I think I like old fashioned names - anyone care to share what their grandmothers/great-grandmothers were called.

My GM was Elsie and DH's was Lily (which is my DD's middle name).

We don't know either my Dad's mum's name (she died when he was little) or DH's paternal GM's name (his dad was adopted).

Hilda Florence and Frances . If we had had a girl she would have either been Florence or had Florence as a second name . Ds2 has Francis as a middle name.

Grandfathers were Ronald Douglas and Joseph.

My grandmas were called Emily and Lily. Emily was an incredible woman. I was very close to her and she used to talk to me about all sorts. She taught me that as a woman no one should tell me I cant do something and I should always have a go. She used to talk about the roles women played in the war and was very proud of her daughter for being in the land army. If I had had a girl I would have called her Emily. She also taught me to play cards, knit, crochet, make dumplings and buns! I loved her and miss her to this day and she has been gone 25 years. I could go on forever. Sorry.
