Which perfectly nice names do you really dislike for no reason you can put your finger on?

I don't mean names that you think are:

'posh' (Fenella)
'chavvy' (Kayden)
'princessey' (Annabelle)
'hypheney' (Ellie-Mae)
'illiterate' (Mykal)
'ubiquitous' (Ruby)
'celeby' (Britney)
and so forth.

I mean names which for absolutely no reason you can put your finger on, you really really dislike. They don't come with associations or baggage, you just don't like it.

The test is, if you can say: "I don't like it because...(it reminds me of a horrible kid in primary school/it's really dated/ I know fifteen of them)" then it doesn't count. There has to be absolutely no justifiable (or unjustifiable) reason for your dislike of it.

For me: Hazel.

I just think it's really a horrid name.

Olivia and Lydia.
On the other hand, I love Hazel.

It's just as well we all have different tastes isn't it?

But Lydia and Paige. Chloe too to a lesser extent. I just can't like them. Oh and Poppy.

Matthew
Alice
Christopher

No reason, just can't bring myself to like them!

notanumber · 02/04/2011 19:02

Ooh, yes, Christopher. I hate that name too. I couldn't say why for the life of me, but I think it's awful.

Margaret, it's awful, I hate it. No idea why because there's nothing wrong with it really. In fact, it could be argued that, pronounced correctly, it's quite a pretty name. Still hate it though.

Cheeruploveitmightneverhappen · 02/04/2011 19:11

Tegan, no idea why, just has an ugly sound to my ears.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/04/2011 19:30

Katie. I used to love the name but then I worked with a Katie who was a horrible bitch and that put me off it for ever.
Same with Laura, always thought I would use that for any dds I had but I got put off the name as my friend's sister is called that and she is somewhat high maintenance and neurotic, unlike my friend who is lovely!!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/04/2011 19:31

OH sorry just realised I didn't read the OP properly Blush

though I think my reasons are pretty silly!!
