Which perfectly nice names do you really dislike for no reason you can put your finger on?

I don't mean names that you think are:

'posh' (Fenella)
'chavvy' (Kayden)
'princessey' (Annabelle)
'hypheney' (Ellie-Mae)
'illiterate' (Mykal)
'ubiquitous' (Ruby)
'celeby' (Britney)
and so forth.

I mean names which for absolutely no reason you can put your finger on, you really really dislike. They don't come with associations or baggage, you just don't like it.

The test is, if you can say: "I don't like it because...(it reminds me of a horrible kid in primary school/it's really dated/ I know fifteen of them)" then it doesn't count. There has to be absolutely no justifiable (or unjustifiable) reason for your dislike of it.

For me: Hazel.

I just think it's really a horrid name.

Gosh Shock

haven't read whole thread but have no problems with any of the names I've seen listed

I don't think I hate any names (although there are some I would never give a child today, like Herbert, or Beryl, or some of the made-up modern ones)

I had an aunty Mabel and loved her very much but I'd never saddle a lovely baby girl with the name - I just think Blue Peter dog now.

The name Emily is nice but Amelie is just wrong. I don't know how to pronounce it.

ConnorTraceptive · 03/04/2011 20:52

I hate most names which begin with H (boys and girls). Which is unfortunate, as my own name begins with H. I hate it.
