Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

Glad your appointment went well Arizona, when is the baby actually due?

Fimbo · 07/10/2010 14:15

Oh and I thrown in

Ridley

Ralph (with the l)

lowrib · 07/10/2010 14:27

I love Eden too.

Skyler's good also. I don't think the NN thing (Ocean and Sky) is nearly as much of a problem as Autumn and Winter would have been. Personally I would have been put off the Autumn / Winter thing as there's no way of interpreting the names other than the seasons.

But Skyler is a name in its own right. He can choose to be Skyler or Sky.

mathanxiety · 07/10/2010 14:33

Sunny is sweet for a girl (I don't like Sonny for a boy; it's the equivalent in my mind of Colleen for a girl).

I like Soleil for a girl too, and maybe Sol for a boy? Either short for Solomon or on its own.

Avocadoes · 07/10/2010 14:42

I know one female and one male Skyler. The male hates his name. Hates it with a passion. He is a pretty troubled fellow though. A big fantasy gamer/goth type with body odor issues. This may explain why I really don't like the name Skyler for a boy.

What abour Larkin, Buzzard, Robin or Raven?

Avocadoes · 07/10/2010 14:43

Or Caspian (like the Caspian Sea)?

DanceInTheDark · 07/10/2010 15:31

Ooooh now Eden Melody Rose i like

Really not liking Sonnet and Melody together. Its like 2 descriptive words together.

How are we saying Skyler? sky - lur? Not keen for a boy.

Like Sonny Alexander Beau.

lowrib · 07/10/2010 15:33

I was suggesting Eden as a boys name Grin
I know a young man called Eden and I think it's a great name.

JustKeepSwimming · 07/10/2010 16:38

I've not said much as I'm not a fan of Skyler but didn't want to put you off :)

Like to put all the DC names together:
Logan, Ocean, Winter & Skyler - it just doesn't seem to 'go'

Logan, Ocean, Winter & Sonnet :)

So I'm no help really!

Avocadoes · 07/10/2010 16:55

I agree with JustKeep. The childrens' names don't work together when Skyler is added. I think its because the first two end in an "un" sound and the next two in "er". It seems too matched, too much pair like you are making pairs.

I actually like Logan, Ocean and Autumn a lot more than I like Skyler. Those names have chutzpah. Skyler has no chutzpah. Sorry Arizona, its just my opinion but I feel it strongly!

mathanxiety · 07/10/2010 17:04

Aidan means 'little fire'...

DanceInTheDark · 07/10/2010 17:25

oh Eden for a boy....hadn't thought of that....that works!

vess · 07/10/2010 17:48

So we're looking for a name with two syllables, ending in -n, with a nature theme to match the other kids' names?

Aidan is nice, but maybe too conventional for the OP?
Eden - isn't that a girl's name?
Rowan fits (so what if some other people have that name?), Aspen too.
Someone suggested Elwin - love that!

Not a fan of Skyler personally.

arizonagirl · 07/10/2010 18:30

Thanks girls. Will write later.

We don't have a Winter. Dc's names are:

Logan, Autumn and Ocean - so not pairing.

I kind of agree about the Skyler sounding different but lots of people said it sounded too contrived having four names ending in an 'n' sound (although Autumn is more of an 'm' sound). My immediate thoughts are:

Aidan - nice but no nature connotations
Eden - dh vetoed it but I like it a lot
Rowan - Archbishop of Canterbury images
Elwin - not keen.
Aspen - Love the name but ass sound - not good!

So still on Skyler (nn Sky). Or Beauden?? Smile. Any more thoughts on Blaise??

JustKeepSwimming · 07/10/2010 18:39

Sorry Arizona, that was me :(

Logan, Ocean, Autumn & Skyler - actually does sound better now!

FellatioNelson · 07/10/2010 18:48

Oh. I don't know...

I'm just not feeling Skyler. Sorry OP. You can't have it. Grin

JustKeepSwimming · 07/10/2010 19:15

Me neither FN, but am hopeless at suggestions.

lowrib · 07/10/2010 19:35

Orion

Avocadoes · 07/10/2010 20:15

Blaise has chutzpah.

And I like Aspen.

You weren't tempted by Raven then? Or Larkin?

What about Elk? Or Bear?

arizonagirl · 07/10/2010 20:16

Sounds too much like onion and if you write 'orion' in cursive it really looks like onion.

Only know because I love that name and we seriously thought about it. Soooo... you are on my exact wave length. As is the suggestion of Blaise Grin. Keep going girls, dh isn't feeling it too!! Although I think it is the best so far and can see us having a little Sky in the house.

Jenski · 07/10/2010 20:57

Hi Arizonagirl

Don't let this lot put you off Indigo.

I have a girl called Indigo Poppy. We usually call her Indy. She definitely could not be anything else Smile

lola0109 · 07/10/2010 21:27

I actually have a feeling that we're going to go through all this and in 2 weeks or so there will be a thread "so Beauden Jem Alexander has arrived..."

I don't mind Skyler at all, but I love Sonnet and can't see how Skyler is any less feminine than Sonnet.

I still love Boden, (but I could live with you spelling it Beauden) :)

What about Pearce? I suggest it as there is a Pearce Ferry in Arizona?? I don't know much about Arizona but I know you were trying to find some inspiration from there.

arizonagirl · 07/10/2010 21:32

Hmmm... like Blaise. Jenski, I do like Indigo but don't think it would be right for a boy.

Ho hum, seem to have come to a stand still now - probably because there are no more names left out there after all this searching.

Do kind of agree that Skyler isn't quite as pow wow as the other names we have...but I do like it the best. Perhaps it's a girl....

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 07/10/2010 21:51

Rowan (for a boy or a girl) works brilliantly with your other names. Really it does. Balances the whole sib set IYSWIM

Logan, Autumn, Ocean and Rowan

The Archbishop of Canterbury images would fade very quickly faced with a newborn Wink

Rowan Melody
Rowan Alexander

I do like Skyler, more for a girl than a boy, but still. But, that and Sonnet don't seem to sit right with you other Dc's names. I loved Zephyr and Jem too, but TBH they don't sit any better. Ditto Blaise. It's than N thing you mentioned earlier.

MummyLovesSadie · 07/10/2010 21:57

Right I've been following this thread with lots of Grin's & thought I'd stick my two penneth in before I give birth (now 2 days past hospital's edd):

Brin - hill
Cela - a rock
Cephas - rock/stone
Farley - fern meadow
Hedley - heather meadow
Orrell - ore hill
Parcifal - pierced valley
Ridley - reed meadow
Wiley - water meadow

I know it's not really a nature name but I love Ambrose which means immortal.
