Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

What about Octavio? October was the original eigth month so you could get away with this?

Did you know Shiloh was a boys name? That could have went well if it wasn't for the Jolie-Pitts!

onadietcokebreak · 07/10/2010 22:18

My Best Friend is having a Melody.

Sorry but I dont like Sonnet. Skimmed throught thread but what happened to the Sorrell suggestion?

Please do not call a girl Eden. All the Edens I know (which is quite a few are boys)
Please no to Blaise too.

Do they have to all have nature themes?

arizonagirl · 07/10/2010 22:19

Thanks girls. I feel really guilty - everyone is being so wonderful and lovely - I almost feel tempted to take one of the above names just to seem a bit more grateful. Probably not a good idea though - but please know that I do look at all your lists carefully (but nothing sticks - I am SORRY!).

Rowan feels a bit too normal and a backward step but I totally agree that it fits in well. MummyLovesSadie - some nice names but not the easiest to spell, and nothing leaps out. But thank you so much for taking the time to reply and good luck with your little one.

Lola0109 - you have been fab!! Octavio sounds a bit ott to me and yes, Shilo is ok. Actually, we liked Cruz but can't have it because of the Beckhams plus it would sound ridiculous with Ocean Grin

Yes, Rowan is a nice name - and a nice tree, particularly beautiful this time of the year. Don't get the problem with the archbishop, seriously - there's always going to be someone somewhere with the same name as your child, even if it's very uncommon, and it's not like he's a mad axe murderer or something...

As for Beauden, I thought the name was some sort of a Mumsnet joke at first - along the lines of 'What do you call a middle class Jayden?' or something.

The baby is probably a girl anyway Grin

chalat · 07/10/2010 22:33

Haven't been on here in ages but there is something about this thread that makes it riveting reading!!

Just want to say, arizonagirl - your approach to this is fab and we are all hanging on every post and development as you are so goodhumoured about the comments and suggestions, lol!
FWIW - Rowan isn't 'too normal' in our area - I can only think of one, and it suits him well. Works for a girl or a boy, and just kind of 'fits' with the siblings' names. Actually it sounds really lovely to my ears Smile
I will continue to watch this space - and wish you all the best for your delivery, may it all go smoothly for you despite the concerns you referred to.

lowrib · 07/10/2010 22:36

Ooh I like Ridley Smile

DinahRod · 07/10/2010 22:41

Lucian - Light
Caspian
Kes

lowrib · 07/10/2010 22:56

Zizanie - French for wild rice
Orris - a kind of Iris, its root is used in Western herbal medicine

lowrib · 07/10/2010 23:04

Orris is also tree in Hebrew apparently, or can also be Orrin

Derry - oak tree in Welsh
Alder- From the Alder Tree in Old English. NN - Al
Linden -From the Linden Tree in English. NN - Lin or Denny

Got these ones from this site

lola0109 · 07/10/2010 23:05

Grin at Ocean Cruz

I'm actually having fun trying to think of names. DP won't allow me anymore DC's Sad and I've 2 dd's so having fun with boys names.

FWIW if I had boys they'd be Lauchlan and Killian. Lovely names!!??

lowrib · 07/10/2010 23:07

Oleander

  • An ever green tree in Greek. Nicknames - Ollie, Lee, Ander, Andy
Notyetamummy · 07/10/2010 23:16

Wow, it took a long time to read all of that.

I just wanted to say that I really like Schuyler. I went to school with someone with that name. The teacher was told how to pronounce it at the very beginning so for then on, there weren't any spelling/pronunciation problems. There were more problems for my friend Aoife.

I also love the nn Sky for a boy - much more than for a girl.

Schuyler Jem Alexander

I also like Sonnet Melody Rose

I really think you should go with Logan, Autumn, Ocean & Schuyler (or Sonnet).

lowrib · 07/10/2010 23:24

Arno - of Old German origin and means "eagle wolf."

lowrib · 07/10/2010 23:28

Raven - if he's got a dark complexion

greentig3r · 07/10/2010 23:38

Soren? Never heard that before, but I like it.

lowrib · 07/10/2010 23:50

Soren Lorenson is Lola's imaginary friend in Charlie and Lola. (No reason not to use it, C&L is really good kid's TV Smile)

lowrib · 07/10/2010 23:52

Soren Lorenson

thumbwitch · 08/10/2010 00:24

Orson - bear-related and according to thinkbabynames, can have Sonny as a nn! Win-win.

Still don't like Skyler in either spelling. And can't get past the similarity to Sylar in Heroes

Also thought about Jet - tis a semi-precious stone so naturey - but maybe too "rockstar" for you?

arizonagirl · 08/10/2010 01:38

Hi there,

Agree Soren is nice but prefer Skyler. Not keen on the other suggestions (sorry) Sad.

Agree Schuyler looks nicer but would be a complete pain to spell (just had to look at the top of this page to check myself).

So if baby is born tonight, still think we are looking at Sonnet or Skyler. Blaise in the back of my mind as I go off to bed. Like Linden too by the way but a bit too like Logan.

Night night, thanks everyone - you have been FAB!!

thumbwitch · 08/10/2010 01:51

Awwwww - you don't like Orson?? :(

Wink
crabb · 08/10/2010 01:51

Huon is the name of a river and a pine tree from Tasmania - used (not commonly) as a boy's name in Australia. A lovely strong name I think.

JustKeepSwimming · 08/10/2010 08:38

I like Linden too but agree Arizona with Logan it's a bit much.

A name from an earlier list (sorry forgotten who) that jumped out at me was Brin, I quite like that one, unusual but spellable.

Logan, Ocean, Autumn & Brin ?

Also would you consider just Sky, instead of Skyler? I really like Sky on its own. :)

chalat · 08/10/2010 09:47

Brin - meaning 'hill' in Welsh, is spelt Bryn; Derry as suggested meaning 'oak tree' in Welsh is Deri.
Not particularly struck on either and Rowan would be my first choice for a boy or girl, but...... have you already thought of Willow for a boy?

persephoneplum · 08/10/2010 09:57

Autumn and Winter? I could see one or the other despite them not really being my style, but as siblings? That's just cruel.

Whatever to Sonnet, fine... just not two seasons PLEASE! Think of the children!

russiandolly · 08/10/2010 12:17

What about:

Orlando
Carter
Miller
Harper
Cassiel
Asa
Barnaby

Also, you have 6 weeks to register a name so perhaps try a couple out once baby arrives and see what you like best?
