Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

I love Sonnet, I think you could have it for a boy and Sonny for nn is fab IMO! I think its the Melody Rose that makes it feminine. I think it's a gorgeous name for either sex.

I had a thought today when making up some halloween invites, what if he/she is a few days late? You could have a halloween inspired name for that eventuality?

Your dad likes Ryan? A work colleagues son is called Rayan? I quite like it.

FellatioNelson · 06/10/2010 22:45

I know a man called Schuyler (note: spelt the proper way Grin) and he is absolutely not downmarket - quite the opposite. I agree though - it's all in the spelling.

arizonagirl · 06/10/2010 22:52

Hey, no slating girls - life just gets better.

Skyrg - yes, we did notice the smurf link but quite liked it (would make a great pet nickname).

Lola0109 - you have got me wondering now. We see it as a really feminine name but I don't know if that is just because we have always associated Sonnet with a girl. Food for thought. We were saying earlier we hope it is a girl simply because we love the name and will never get the chance to use it (definitely no fifth!).

FellatioNelson - yes, I know that is the correct spelling but he would have a nightmare having to spell it out all the time. Surely? And everyone would call him Shoeler? Don't you think?

Still - some positive feedback. Just need to decide on Sonnet or Skyler (hey, F.Nelson - you just had me typing Schuyler - you've got in my mind now).

Were you thinking of Indigo before then?

I have an Indigo.

Never come across any others...

Skyrg · 06/10/2010 22:56

Please don't call a boy Sonnet! Really!
I see it as a really feminine name.

Have you considered:
Sonny (on its own)
Blake
Blaine
Chase
Brock
Drake
Jace
Sora

Sorry to keep suggesting things, I expect you've considered them all... I just don't want you to call a boy Sonnet!

lola0109 · 06/10/2010 22:56

I just googled Arizona Trees (should really be doing these bloody invites) and there was a leyland cypress tree and a royal empress

Any good?

arizonagirl · 06/10/2010 23:09

Hi Jenski, yes, love the name Indigo but all these flippin' mumsnetters put me off. Is your Indigo a boy or girl?

Ok, ok Skyrg - I take your point. Slightly changed my mind after your comment - any others out there with an opinion? Think you are right though Skyrg.

Lola0109 - ah, sweet. Invites? Am I invited? Hey, Leyland is a cool name.

I am going to have to print this damn thread out and stick it in dc's keepsake box Grin

AM :) that so many of you like my suggestion of Zephyr and :( that Arizona doesn't - I too thought a nn of Zeff would be pretty cool (didn't even cross my mind that it was anything like Zebedee because it, um, isn't. Grin)

Can't think of any more suitable names, although I do like Blaise/Blaize/Blaze. Not keen on Breeze (and would also think "girl", nn Bree)

What about Alder?

arizonagirl · 07/10/2010 00:21

Sad sorry, thumbwitch. Don't worry, it's me! Afterall, if I had a good taste in names this thread wouldn't be so darn long!!!!

lola1019 - if I have nightmares about Margaret Thatcher tonight, you have some explaining to do.

Tonight's update:

Sonnet Melody Rose

Skyler Alexander Beau
Skyler Alexander Jem
Skyler Beau Alexander
Skyler Jem Alexander

Sonnet Alexander Jem (probably not though).

Mind you, I was just imagining a conversation between Ocean and Skyler....ho hum. Same scenario as Winter and Autumn if nn is used!

And on that night, sleep well Smile

Well whatever you chose in the end you will have a great name story for your son/daughter!

russiandolly · 07/10/2010 04:45

I've been following this thread and have to say, it is my favourite of the many I have read and I love your input and lovely responses Arizona.

I'm glad you've mentioned the nn Sonny as I keep thinking it would be a great name in its own right. It goes well with your other DC don't you think?
Best wishes.

BonzoDooDah · 07/10/2010 09:42

morning! Here to add my tuppenceworth again.

I'm not going anywhere with your girl names -you're happy and that's enough - they go well and Smurf is (nice) funny (I have a few friends known by their cool initials e.g. KEG and PAT)

IMO Sonnet sounds like a girl.
Zephyr is still the coolest boys name :-P

Leyland is a no no- it's a kind of white van (white van man!) and not particularly memorable place in Lancashire! And even if not - Leylandii? The most hated tree in England??

arizonagirl · 07/10/2010 09:54

Uh oh - BonzoDooDah - white van man - great. Scrubbed. Thanks Nooka and Russiandolly - yes, Sonny is rather nice.

Haven't moved on at all here (baby still happily kicking me to pieces) and the name remains unchanged. Does that mean we have made a choice? May well be.

Probably a good sign that people have gone quiet on me - do I interpret that as "you have chosen a bearable name that little one would be able to live with so we can now leave you alone? Plus you have got really boring now with no wacky names for us to slate!"

Did discuss Blaise this morning again but for some reason it still conjures up an image of a little lad with a chain around his neck and mum and dad, barechested with tatoos (dad, that is). Now I am going to hear lots of mums telling me about their child named Blaise!!

Starr?

Bagpusstree · 07/10/2010 11:34

I'm still watching, also still waiting.....

I've gone quiet because I like Skyler and Sonnet Melody Rose Grin So, thats me decided for you!

Seeing them typed out though, Skyler Alexander Beau is the combo for me. Sonnet definitely for a girl only.

I found out the gender Arizona, going back to our earlier conversation, and yes, have decided on a name, albeit a little more conventional than yours Wink I think I've been able to release my inner name demon via your dc to be!!

I like Zephyr too FWIW.

russiandolly · 07/10/2010 13:26

Glad you like Sonny, FWIW, I much prefer it to Skyler which I always think of as a girls name (Skylar). I think Sonny "ages" better too...think it would suit from
young boy to old man well.

Anyway, you need to choose what you love.

All the best!

Bagpusstree · 07/10/2010 13:41

Just came back to say that my Bil's new girlfriend has a little boy called Eden.

Can't remember if that ones been mooted before or not, but thought it might be worth throwing into the ring.

PaigeTurner · 07/10/2010 14:10

Ooh Blaze would be great if he were born near bonfire night!
