Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

Quattro - wrong thread, perchance? Wink

NKinDXB · 05/10/2010 03:56

I'm liking Idris.

YunoYurbubson · 05/10/2010 05:14

Basil?

skippingturtle · 05/10/2010 09:07

Idris Elba. Yum.

autodidact · 05/10/2010 09:17

Yum yum yum indeed to Idris Elba.:)

Bagpusstree · 05/10/2010 09:44

Yes yes! Idris Elba. Fabulous name. Although I think I prefer Elba as a first name. Its going to be a girl you know!

Aitch · 05/10/2010 10:14

idris is a beautiful name, definitely.

arizonagirl · 05/10/2010 10:47

sorry girls, Idris isn't a goer (connections). Thank you for the suggestions though. Think we have narrowed it down to:

Cedar
Sirius (dh not sure - like 'serious')
Skyler (a new idea which we quite like).

Middle names would be a choice from Alexander, Beau, Winter and Jem.

Dismissed Cypresse - love the name, don't love the connotations.

Might be homing in...??? Good news is - there is no baby yet - thank goodness!!

THANK YOU!!

FellatioNelson · 05/10/2010 11:28

I like the sound of Idris, but I can't get past the Ivor the Engine connotaions and I just think old old welsh men in flat caps!

Dewi is another nice Welsh name. Pronounced Deh-wee, (like very) not Dew-y. (like Louis)

Malachy?

Flynn?

Inigo?

Jethro?

Amos?

Ambrose?

River? (ok, might not work with Ocean - back to the Autmn/Winter problem again!!)

Hudson?

Jeremiah?

Fitz?

Sapphire? (that's uber-cool for a boy, could be Saff for short)

jem1980 · 05/10/2010 11:38

Just came across Harper
Also:
Burnett

Like Skyler from your latest list :)

FellatioNelson · 05/10/2010 11:43

Ooh yes Harper is nice. Skyler should correctly be spelt Schuyler I believe.

GetOrfMoiLand · 05/10/2010 11:50

Schuyler is on my fantasy baby boy's name.

Along with Inigo. And my surname is Jones. Ha! What a wanker I am etc.

Shame will not have another baby. I have lists and lists of mad as frogs baby names in my head which will never see the light of day.

Bagpusstree · 05/10/2010 11:58

I must get a life and stay away from this thread for at least an hour. However, Skyler me likes. A lot. Can't comment on the correct spelling as I aint that educated cultured and would pronounce it "Sku-ler"
I think the second name should be shorter, so Skyler Beau or Skyler Jem.
Skyler Winter or Alexander are both too er er for my liking.

arizonagirl · 05/10/2010 12:32

Love River - would not be a great idea with Ocean.

Like Sapphire but too feminine.

Still liking Skyler - would go with this spelling even if it isn't the traditional way.

Bagpusstree - thanks for all your help. Your last comment made me smile. I can't pass my study without checking on you wonderful people - but I guess I have more of an excuse. Getting the odd twinge so am in a race against time.

Thought of the hour is Juniper versus Skyler.

Really wishing I had had a scan - but wouldn't have in reality - this is too much fun Smile

OP posts:
Pasiphae · 05/10/2010 12:46

Juniper for a boy?
I like it so much more for a girl.
On a boy, it's lifeless.

Skyler is nice.
some more ideas in case of:
Solal, Ciel, Elzear, Tiago, Ilyes, Tybalt, Larken/Lark, Astor, Sorley, Leif/Leiv, Orion, Ridge, Reed, Vernal, Dunlin, Hawk...

JustKeepSwimming · 05/10/2010 13:29

Hate to put you off any name now but Sirius does make me think Harry Potter :)

I think I like:

Cedar Jem Alexander

or

Skyler Beau Jem

You need to get some pieces of paper with each name on and play around with them a bit.

FellatioNelson · 05/10/2010 13:35

How about Silas? or Simeon? Gideon?

FellatioNelson · 05/10/2010 13:36

Raphael? Xavier?

Hullygully · 05/10/2010 13:41

Pamplemousse Extravaganza

islandbaby · 05/10/2010 15:46

I really like Silas (Sylas). Or Silavanus (sylvanus). They're very earthy, foresty names.

I also like Titus, if it didn't sound so much like tight-arse.

BonzoDooDah · 05/10/2010 19:51

Oh quick just have a girl Grin

Shame about Idris - was the coolest name.

Skyler is an odd one (I mean I've never heard of it - he'll have to repeat it and spell it all the time) but nn Sky is lovely.

arizonagirl · 05/10/2010 21:20

Thanks for your advice girls. BonzoDooDah - are you in the UK with me? I haven't really heard of it over here but in America it is quite widely used - so much so I was worried it was going to be a bit too popular.

Still liking Skyler (Sky) today though and it is tonight's number one. So if baby is born tonight, he/she will be Sonnet Melody Rose or Skyler ? ?

Thanks for your help again everyone. I was so stressed but you have all made it great fun choosing our little one's name.

Think we're there but hey, tomorrow is another day and someone might come up with a beauty. I spent ages last night trawling through the places/flowers/nature of Arizona as it is such a special place to us. Didn't get anywhere though. Don't like the obvious name Canyon.

OP posts:
DownyEmerald · 05/10/2010 21:24

Chuffed (no pun intended) at how well Idris was received. Shame I'm not planning another - would go well with dd.

But Skyler is a girl's name isn't it - that film with Minnie Driver and the mathematician?
And Sky is definitely a girl's name.

Bagpusstree · 05/10/2010 21:35

When are you due Arizona? It was Sunday for me....Waiting, waiting, waiting........

arizonagirl · 05/10/2010 21:43

DownyEmerald - it is a boys' and girls' name with different spellings: - Skylar for a girl, and Skyler for a boy.

Idris is a lovely name - I have a very close friend Called Idris. Waiting for the slating about Skyler but all quiet - even quattrocento hasn't had anything to say Wink.

Bagpusstree - didn't realise you were waiting too. I take it you are all organised and sorted your names out long ago. I am due on the 28th so a while to go - but wouldn't be surprised if he/she came early. Good luck with everything - hey, Sunday......hmmmm Wink.
