Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

Who said Harvest? I love that for an October baby!

This thread is great - big up all the unusual name-pickers Grin

NKinDXB · 04/10/2010 17:19

Was hoping to pick something slightly more unusual for ours (due Dec) but DH not playing!

How about Cairn for a boy? (Was thinking on a 'Stone' theme. There's a US newsreader called Stone Phillips and I always liked that but DH reckoned a kid would just be called 'Stoned' or 'Stoner'.)

There's a Fisher in DS's class and I like that too.

Best of luck with everything!

BelligerentGhoul · 04/10/2010 17:45

Please not Snowden. I like Sirius better than Cypress! Jem still the best though, if you refuse to have Rowan.

Sorry but I really dislike Cairn.

FellatioNelson · 04/10/2010 19:50

Ooh, I agree - I love Jem. When I read TKAM I fantasised for years that I'd have a child called Jem. It good for a boy or a girl, too.

And Scout was the other one!

arizonagirl · 04/10/2010 20:49

Hi everyone. Sorry I have been quiet today - not much to report really. Think I have pretty much dismissed Cypress due to the funeral connotations. Shame because I do like the name but it just kind of hangs over me. Not sure if we have made any progress.

Just been through all your wonderful posts and the ones left to reconsider are:

Indigo
Jem
Cyrus.
Cyprus (dh's suggestion but not keen).
Arizona

Oh, I thought there were more than that. Do like Sirius but dh thinks it sounds too much like 'serious'. Also like Cedar but dh thinks he would be called 'Seedy'.

Off to look at that wonderful link above on trees etc. Will let you know the next part of the story. Just hope it isn't me telling you that 'baby' has been born Shock

LetThereBeRock · 04/10/2010 20:56

Definitely ot Indigo.I thought you'd gone off that.

Jem and Cyrus are lovely.

Arizona is terrible. It makes me think of a porn star.

FellatioNelson · 04/10/2010 20:57

Agree about Redwood - shortened to Red. That's cool.

Horton · 04/10/2010 21:06

Cyrus is a great name.

Horton · 04/10/2010 21:09

Although Cyrus Beau Alexander means he'd have the initials CBA which in my book stands for Can't Be Arsed.

EightiesChick · 04/10/2010 21:29

Arizona sounds like a classic girls' name with its 'a' ending.

SirBoobAlot · 04/10/2010 21:31

Cyrus is good - though pretty much anything would be better than Winter with Autumn!

arizonagirl · 04/10/2010 21:34

Hmmm...Red would be ridiculous with our surname. Dh has totally vetoed Cyrus (which I like). Feels it would be like calling him 'Beckham'. Dh also dislikes Jem - says he would have to spell his name for the rest of his life. And you girls rule out Indigo (I tend to agree) and Arizona.

Guess it's back to me looking for inspiration. Will keep you posted about any new thoughts and check back for some of your wonderful, objective advice. Why on earth didn't I find out the gender - this could all be for absolutely nothing!!

BelligerentGhoul · 04/10/2010 21:34

No to Arizona. Bad for a boy or a girl imho but worse for a boy!

Shoshe · 04/10/2010 21:51

What about

Sage
Dune
Reef
Heath
Forrest
Thyme
Barley
Mace
Reed
Blu
Teak

DownyEmerald · 04/10/2010 21:55

ok, so in theory I like the idea of naming someone with the name of a mountain.

But Snowdon is a lousy name for a mountain IMHO. Tho' not many have names that sound ok for people when you actually look at them.

Tryfan
Glyder (short y - glidder)
Idris - that's great, and a wonderful mountain
Llewelyn
Helvellyn
Makalu

AngryPixie · 04/10/2010 21:58

Not Snowdon, he would be in teenage hell with 'mount Snowdon' gags.

savoycabbage · 04/10/2010 22:04

We have an Ocean at our school. He is one of the beautiful cool kids. And we have a McCloud.

I like your names and the fact that you don't want to call your baby Joshua.

ROLF at the idea of the Mount Snowdon jokes AngryPixie.

I really like Jem.

DownyEmerald · 04/10/2010 22:16

Realised why Jem rang a bell - Chalet School books.

I love it - be called Jam tho'.

Horton · 04/10/2010 22:26

Idris is fab!

gapbear · 04/10/2010 22:28

I like Jem a lot.

And surprisingly, I really like Sonnet, although I consider myself to be a middle of the road sort of person.

BonzoDooDah · 04/10/2010 23:01

Idris !!! Idris is SUCH a cool name ... I LONGED to be brave enough to name DS Idris.
There is a mountain Cader Idris in Wales but it was also the dragon (very very sweet one) in Ivor the Engine Oh DO DO pick Idris. Ocean, Melody, Autum and Idris ... see it even goes beautifully.

thumbwitch · 04/10/2010 23:11

Love Idris - great name.
Have you considered Cloud? That's nice name too, although McCloud is pretty cool.

Quattrocento · 04/10/2010 23:14

ROFL at expat

It's not drug induced, it's real

But still, y'know, amusing

Aitch · 04/10/2010 23:59

he would have to spell JEM his entire life???!! ye gods.
