Well I am actually making something today - doing a few more scrabble tiles - still practising really. I also want to make a ring - not sure if I'll get that done too today, although DS is quite happy at the mo playing Lego Star Wars!

Oh Lk, just read that thread, is he having a growth spurt? Ds was always like that just before he got got taller, no consolation I know. Fwiw, ds was rather challenging at that age, he's absolutely lovely now but, everytime we went to Sainsburys, he would kick off big time, brings me out in hives just thinking about it and that was years ago.

well we never made it to play witht he knights.... weather too horrible so we diverted to birmingham bull ring... for krispy kreme donuts instead... and I have only had 1 donut, and a bite from DS' ... though DS and DH are conspiring to get a chinese takeaway for dinner... apparently its very important to DS.

Whizzz · 05/08/2008 20:39

meri - like the vests it's a great idea.
The button thief one looks really good but to be really honest, I think the cute owl is overshadowed by the stripes - just my opinion though.

dior, i like those ndebele bracelets, well to look at anyway, not sure if they would suit me really.

got to make a ruby wedding anniversary card for in-laws soon, may steal/copy some ideas from your if that's ok? (is that ok in craft etiquette????)
i need to think of things that are ruby-coloured tho, any tips?
thought of ruby-red satin/shiny card as a base and i have a heart punch thingie, plus a silver '40', will have to play when i get home this weekend.

meridian · 05/08/2008 20:50

cant do applique.. I don't even really know what it is anyway... I can sew on a button thats about it... thank you though... I will iron it to fix it and sew the buttons on and thats one more bit to put in the parcel...

oh spoilt myself in Selfridges today.. I bought some cinnamon jelly bellys and some lovely little notepads from paperchase.. simple plain ones with recycled covers.. that I'm going to doodle on... small things make me happy...

do you think I could bribe anyone to teach me to sew... though I would probably sew my fingers together anyway if I got near a machine...

justkeepswimming · 05/08/2008 20:52

meri - i would love to sew too!
even looked at a sewing machine on the shops the other day
and i was soooo taken by some ribbon displays, want to have all the colours hung up, need an office, and some hooks...don't really need to DO anything with them, lol.

meridian · 05/08/2008 20:55

jks-- I would love to be able to sew.. I think it might be a bit beyond me though I'm not very good at that type of thing.... you know straight lines and such..

meridian · 05/08/2008 20:58

right going to go annoy DH to turn off the how do they do it? boy show and put something proper on.. like lastnights Dexter(sky+'d it) . that we didn't watch as we went to see the batman.

justkeepswimming · 05/08/2008 20:59

maybe you can get a swing equivalent of a knitting machine? that basically does it for you?
i might be tempted by that...as long as it means i can buy ribbons....

justkeepswimming · 05/08/2008 20:59

oooh, combine ribbons with cards....you may be onto something....
maybe a ruby-red satin ribbon.
have to be careful not to make it too girly for the bloke.
yours are good for that.
