lol try de caff tea tastes the same i promise and no head ache its the tannine same stuff as red wine apparently

is anyone else got a horrid sore throat snotty nose and thick head at the mo i feel really undr the weather but not achey or tired like you would expect

must say the excema thing is baffling as apart from baby wipes we use only natural stuff on madam as i am a lush addict she seems to find it quite itchy and it is very dry but in her crease behind her kness it does seem quite damp

god knows tbh the only thing i can think is it may be coeliac related as her litttle belly is getting bigger by the day i so hope she isnt though

can i have some ideas re the jewellery shall i stop with the jangly charm bracelets and start doing delicate things im not into the whole semi precious stone thing but have completely most my mojo am even slightly considering selling
have a mumzmall shop called bramley jewellery if anyone is interested at being very brutal

My word - I can't quite catch up!!
Welcome to Milknosugar - love the blog pmsl at the last post (my life is the same and I only have 2 of the little blighters!!)
My scarf is taking forever to bloody knit. I know it will be lovely when it's finished. A girl at work (who I've never previously spoken to) wants to see it when it's finished to 'inspire her'. I was well chuffed. SHe said it looks lovely so far and really wants to see it all finished. (if it ever gets finished grrrr)

puppydavies · 22/07/2008 18:41

isn't it such a motivation when we feel other people are watching us crafting misty. i tend to keep wip stuff close to my chest as i don't like to feel under pressure, but at the same time someone else looking over my shoulder keeps me working much more diligently. that's one of the reasons blogging's so much fun, getting feedback spurs you on.

hope your kitchen's on its way to being fixed up lk. years ago we had a rosemary bush in a pot that had an ants nest in it. i can still remember the moment of sheer horror when we emptied it out of its pot , so i can imagine having that in your home must be horrific. fingers crossed for the damp too, my folks place is a romantic liability where you daren't strip a wall or lift a floorboard for fear of what you may find...

loved the cake stand genie, and your party sounds fab - sounds like you'd better sign up for a pgce pronto whenever i wonder aloud about doing something you enjoy for a job and whether it takes the fun out of it dp jsut gives me a withering look. he plays with computers all day and is happy as a pig in shit

dingle you sound overwhelmed. hope some card making helps you feel a bit more in control and like you're making tangible progress.

i dragged dd1 to see some weavers today, hoping it would get her inspired to work on her little loom but unfortunately i got deep into conversation about sheds and heddles and she got bored stiff. oops. she also pointed out (perceptively) that the loom was really for me even though i call it hers ah well, she had fun winding the shuttle the other day so as long as i get it all warped up and ready in advance (which takes hours apparently) i'm sure she'll humour me and play for a little while at least.

puppydavies · 22/07/2008 18:44

ps have you guys seen folksy yet? i think there's commission free sales while it's in beta, might be of interest to you etsy types.

lucykate · 22/07/2008 20:42

hi you lot, thanks for all the kitchen sympathies, dh has chipped away more floor to uncover the whole pipe. we're still not sure if its a leak or rising damp, so have a builder coming round tomorrow (hopefully), to have a look. in the meantime, we've been to b&q today to look at new flooring and bought paint so while the floor is up, we can at least start decorating the room. we might as well as it's a mess already. that way, once the floor is finished/sorted, we will be further on with finishing off the room.

crafting is becoming a distant memory atm though

oh poo!

Hello All, i've been so busy lately I've been so rubbish at keeping up with everyone.

Puppy - thanks for the Folksy link, looks interesting, I'm getting fed up with Etsy to be honest and have just deleted all my current items with a view to a revamp but I may just move to Dawanda or somewhere else instead.

Anyhow, we've been at Legoland all day today so pooped but I have just blogged a couple of canvases I made yesterday if anyone wants a peep

Gingermonkey · 22/07/2008 21:18

VV - me too!!! I have 2 tea bags left (but luckily some leaf tea courtesy of Dizzyday, phew)

lucykate · 22/07/2008 21:31

tilly, don't be too despondent about etsy, july is notoriously a slow month for sales for gifts/textiles, it was always one of the slowest months sales wise in the industry. my advice is to use this time of year to develop new ideas and designs. start building up stock for october onwards, that is when it gets busy again.

i've noticed paper & string's blog lately, she's busy making christmas items, at coats they always worked on christmas stuff in july to give time to be ready for the biggest sales season of the year.

ahh - but gingermonkey i have a teenager to send out on emergency tea missions - ha ha ha - phew i have 40 pgtips bags to be going along with!!!

jeangenie · 22/07/2008 21:55

we've run out of tea too. yikes. have been on the chai instead. Nice but not quite builders.

Right. Last post from me for a while. Am off to Ireland to pay for things with spuds and bits of old vegetable peel (GM you are a bad bad person you know) in between drinking from morning to night and saying "begorrah" all day, except on Sunday when I'll say me prayers inshtead, begorrah.

Have a lovely summer laydees.

jeangenie · 22/07/2008 21:56

ps the headache is gone, but think 'twas the two nurofen plus rather than the lack of tea tbh

vInTaGeVioLeT · 22/07/2008 22:06

you'll have a great time - so you will

vInTaGeVioLeT · 22/07/2008 22:07

hope you have nice weather and lots of fun xxx

Tillyboo · 22/07/2008 23:00

Thanks LK - You're right, I'm stockpiling but Etsy hasn't been that great for me from the start. But I think it's been more a case of what I have had in my shop if I am honest.

Still, I've got lots of new ideas for designs and I'm in the process of settling on new items that I will be concentrating on.

So, it's an exciting time really

meridian · 23/07/2008 13:22

tilly- don't give up on etsy just yet.. I have heard its a relaly bad time for it as well.. I haven't sold anything for ages.. except something that jg wanted adapting for her sister... I was very greatful for that too as i'm trying to save up to order some mroe bits.. and I have alot of ideas for expansion I guess.. its just difficult to get there and believe in my abilities to do it... off to see the solicitors in a bit about housey stuff so that might make me feel a bit better...

customize a bracelet for a lady at the framing shop.
make earrigns for neighbour's mum
pack and post giveaway prizes
make bracelets for shop
make necklace/pendant for a friends birthday
sort out framing of a print for an order (buzz buzz, happy about it but it is an order from a friend but still an order so thats good)
clear out crafty stuff... as its a big mess
get DH to scan stuff for me (ha ha ha ha)
oh and organize the fairytale swap

Whizzz · 23/07/2008 13:26

well i think i joined this thread at the wrong time, all the bad luck seems to have rubbed off, also got taken over by ants and had to have horrible fillings at dentist but have read through and it looks safe to post again!

am loving the blogging, have added a bit more stuff including the beaded bookmarks the boys made for their teachers, they really are nothing like the amaxing one dior made but they were made by a 9 and a 7 yo with very short attention spans so i still think they did well.

i love the woven bracelet dior, i have a book on bead weaving but the colours they used were all a bit dull and it didnt exactly inspire me. your stuff is altogether different, really lovely

am glad i havent started on etsy yet, if its a bad time that would have really disheartened me, never mind i hate listing stuff anyway so i can just carry on making and christmas will be here before we know it, maybe thats a better time to start

meridian · 24/07/2008 12:12

I havne't done much the last few days.. I made a few bits the other day but have yet to photograph them... DS is currently cleaning his room before he can play in the garden.. I'll go up to check on him in a min.. I need to clean the house today but I have cramps and a rancid headache that refuses to budge... I think its the heavy atmosphere... so I may park my bum in a chair in the garden with my sketch book while DS plays . I couldn't stand to run the hoover over the floor..even though I'm pretty sure the dust bunnies have gone canibal again. Its like Thunder Dome under the sofa..

champs · 24/07/2008 15:14

LK- perhaps we could tag the children and release them to roam with the sheep and cows at Chatworth or somewhere instead? if there is nice weather that is.. at least DS is booked into Nursery for the day tommorow.. I will craft and I will clean... oh and we have a tentitive moving date of the week of the 4th of August... will get a proper date on Friday or Monday as solicitor is waiting on a copy of something from the seller... so very tired now..

Miaou · 24/07/2008 21:29

Hello all, sorry you had such a crappy day meri

I have blogged here

Am feeling v. down this evening - I am making two pairs of curtains (someone is paying me to do it) and it is not going well - first I washed the material (as we agreed before we started) as they are kitchen curtains and therefore will need to be washed from time to time. Well, the material shrank a bit but also some of the dye came out and they now look kind of stonewashed. I sent the lady a picture of what had happened and she's very disappointed (though I don't think she blames me, but I do feel a bit responsible!). Then tonight I have cut them out but not pattern matched correctly, so I am not going to have much in the way of spare fabric when I come to turning the hems . So I have put it away for tonight - I have totally lost confidence. Very fed up.
