milknosugar, no problem with linking to others - generally speaking if you wish to put a picture of theirs on your blog then you should ask (or at least credit them clearly), but links is fine and encouraged!

Also, join the Mumsnet Arts and Crafts blog here - it's not hugely up to date just now but it's a good summary of who we all are (mostly - I think puppydavies and whoops aren't on there yet).

HTH!

champs · 19/07/2008 14:42

hiya!! yummie updates on your blogs, commented and drooled

gotta make a couple of cards but my butt is glued to the chair

puppydavies · 19/07/2008 18:04

Dior, love the colours on that, looks like it would give you neck ache after a while with all those tiny beads to thread.

Miaou, very interested in that quilt thing you've got going on there with your dd, wondering if my dd would be up to a bit of sewing yet, would have to get her a thimble, I suppose?

PD, toy loom eh? I can feel a bit of a yen coming on for one of those, for the benefit of the children, you understand

Am off to peek at MNS blog.

Oh and thanks Meri.

justkeepswimming · 19/07/2008 20:30

hi all

meri - yes i like a bit of sparkly jewellery think i could be one of those birds that collect shiny stuff (brain freeze)!
don't wear much these days tho with LOs to pull it apart!
plus don't have the 'events' to go to, so wear a necklace whenever i go anywhere in the evenings
love the colours in that button thief pic

hello milknosugar i'm new here too and not sure i'm really qualified but i love seeing everyone else's stuff! mind you the more blogs i see the more i want to get into other crafts, would need a bigger house i think! agree with puppyd on that!
tempted by jewellery and beads, just think of all those colours you could have, and sizes, and sorting them all out (ok showing my anal tendencies now!).
if i could sew i would be awash in fabrics too!

miaou - the bag is lovely, sure you will sell them no problem! i like the sock monkey but that drawing pin is suspicious....

dior - i think the homemade idea for a present is lovely, rather than yet another box of chocs (err, tho i would never turn one of them down either!) maybe just a cheap box of maltesers to go with the bookmark, they're great to read and eat.....(no i'm not your ds's teacher honest!).
sounds like the bookmark is going to take a long time to make tho, hope teacher appreciates it. can you make/decorate a small gift box for it?
well done on the chairs!

forgotten who it was now but meant to say i loved the t-shirt rabbit, really tempted me to do something till i remembered i can't sew!!

sorry, waffling now, best go!

vInTaGeVioLeT · 19/07/2008 21:10

JKS - sparkley/shiny stuff collecting bird = MAGPIE!!!! {i think i'm one of them too}

lucykate · 19/07/2008 21:26

i so need to catch up with everyones blogs, my unread bloglines list is over 1000 posts. we are having a bit of an ant problem in our kitchen and may have to take drastic action tomorrow involving skirting board coming up, floor coming up, and concrete slab outside also coming up. there are flying ants there too. we had the same problem last summer so i'm refusing to do any decorating in the kitchen (it is still yet to be painted since the plastering was done and new units fitted 18 months ago!), until the ants invasion is sorted otherwise they're just going to keep coming back.

maybe i've used so much ant killer they are now immune to it!

anyway, in case you've not seen, i'm giving away my tutorial toadstool, here

whoopsididitagain · 20/07/2008 13:01

well have done nothing since thurs painting session my poor dress was ruined as my lo knocked my arm in an almighty strop as i was seam ripping and sent it thru the top section of the dress so i now have a big frilly skirt instead. have decided to turn my pants suit into a maxi dress after watching goks fashion
lo looked gorgeous in her sundress everyone ooohed and ahhed have started a cable sweater for lo too its no where near as hard as i though it would be so im very happy.

i have signed up for meri's swap on her blog and have decided to do a mini quilt for the sci fi challenge

am a bit worried about my financial situation at the mo am considering going back to my parents i have til the end of september to decide or heading off my anxiety and trying to find a sympathetic boss and go back part time to hair dressing
or retail

meridian · 20/07/2008 13:29

jg- thank you so much for sending me that little stamp.. I haven't had a chance to e-mail you to say thanks..

I took DS swimming for alomost and hour this morning... and then did a bit of drawing and took a quick snap of one of the drawings as I was quite pleased with it.. here

may get some beading done in a bit as my neighbour asked me to make some earrings for her mum after her mum saw the ones I made for her... may not make me rich or famous but at least somone appreciates a bit of what I do.

jeangenie · 20/07/2008 15:30

you are welcome Meri

she reminded me of your drawings of Louise Brooks and seemed very appropriate say thanks for that vintage swap...she looks vintage to me

mwah!

lucykate · 20/07/2008 15:39

hi miaou, no, i haven't been around much lately, please ignore me while i just swear loudly FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK!

that's better!, well, our kitchen floor is up, and has revealed a much bigger problem that we thought. the central heating pipes are surrounded by wood which is damp and rotten, we have found a huge ants nest living there, full of eggs. sorry, may be tmi for some, believe me, it was not a pretty sight, i have completely lost my appetite (even for chocolate). dh has had to chip away at the concrete, following the pipe as the damp looks like there is a leak, which obviously we need to locate and mend before re-concreting and putting the floor back down.

i made some bitty booties for ds4 yesterday and they dont fit should have measured first i guess, they are a bit smaller than the 6 - 9 months slippers he likes wearing. dont suppose anyone has a 6 month old who wants them?

lucykate · 20/07/2008 16:06

ah ha, i think i've twigged what's going on fabio, it's because of the spamming thats going on isn't it, you're just bumping other threads to push the spam off active convos.

milknosugar · 20/07/2008 16:11

fabios profile is something to read if you are bored

meridian · 20/07/2008 19:39

lk- sorry to hear of your kitchen and ant woes..

no more crafting done today but its been Ripley Music festival and we went up into town to watch 2 of the bands.. just me and DS.. and he got a shout out from the electric violinist... for his dancing bless... he went all shy for about 5 seconds then continued to dance with his lightsabre... and then he went and bought thier CD!.. bless I'm so very proud of him...

lucykate · 20/07/2008 20:56

am feeling pretty low about it all now so have broken out the wine. my kitchen has been ripped apart today. bright side is we dug out 2 ants nests. down side is dh has exposed all the pipe he can for now as he's reached the units, and we're still not sure where the leak is coming from. going to leave it for a day or so to dry out and see if we can spot anything. it's all soaked in ant spray atm, we're still finding a few.

dh really didn't want to lift the floor, but it was me who persuaded him to do it as i wanted to get rid of the ants, but i assumed they were coming in from outside somehow, i never dreamt there were actual nests under the floor. looks like they were living in the rotten wood. i need to just focus on being glad we've done this, its clear the ants were not going to go by themselves. we would have had this happen every summer. i hate ants, i started bashing them one by one with the sledgehammer

whoopsididitagain · 20/07/2008 23:16
