love the red shoes puppydavies very cute - i just tried on a pair of ART shoes[sandals] which were lush but £60 but it is my birthday today and there is lucky birthday money burning a hole in my pocket !!!

lucykate · 10/07/2008 11:32

pd, lol at jam pot lady , yes thats me! i work slightly different to the others here as i worked as a designer for a big uk based needlecraft manufacturer (i left when we relocated to the midlands from the north west), and have done work for them since on a freelance basis. i already have contacts in the publishing industry too. i sell on etsy, and am hoping to find some local shops to me that will take the odd piece, but selling the things i make is not my main source of income, i'm more of an ideas person and am using the blog as a promotion thing atm, hence all the tutorials, i'm using blog readers as guinea pigs for some project ideas for a book.

meridian · 10/07/2008 12:12

happy birthday Vintage!!! .. hope you have a lovely birthday...

I should be doing something productive now.. but we went to take measurements at the new house we are buying and DS was a total mare.. then got back to find that I missed delivery of my silver findings and cant go up into town to get them as have put DS to bed for a nap becuse he is being such a crabby little sod...

going to go make some coffee and do a bit of sketching to calm down...

puppydavies · 10/07/2008 12:32

happy birthday vv

ah cunning plan lk, it certainly seems tutorials and free patterns are where it's at to get you known (95% of my traffic comes from my crochet patterns). i also see the logic in designing something (a pattern or a book or what have you) that you can sell many times over rather than persuading people your skill and time crafting something are worth paying for.

ah well i may be moving into the publishing world in a very small way, maybe i can make some useful contacts it is all about who you know isn't it, i've been so tempted to try for a degree course NOT so i can ponce about at art school for years (well, not entirely ) but in the hope of making some useful contacts. but i just can't justify it financially (cos i'm such a high roller we couldn't possibly do without my enormous salary pmsl).

happy birthday vv

some of the tutorials i have read make me want to go fabric shopping NOW! and i can't even sew

here

lucykate, do you know what the error is? Could you create a page on the internet with that address and automatically redirect it to the correct one?

lucykate · 10/07/2008 16:14

i think my web address and someone else's in the same article have been transposed, will check tomorrow when it should hopefully arrive.

am off to the cinema later to see sex & the city with 3 friends, excited!!, am going to pig out on popcorn, sweets and fizzy pop!

oooh Happy BirthdAy VV - hope you had a great day

PD - great shoes - I'm liking some of those other ones on sale on amazon too - sizing is my problem with Fly shoes though - I've had about 4 pairs now by mail order and NONE of them fit

crafting bad - having to do too much blardy physiotherapy, pilates and exercises to help me avoid turning into very old crone before my time - is goddam boring (and a sweaty business too - ugh!)

anyway - love all the blogs and all the creations...rock on laydees!

puppydavies · 10/07/2008 23:57

yippee i finished my quilt! i'm sure i would have found any lurking glass when i put the binding on so i think i'll be fine to give it to dd2. it's been a bugger at times to do and i'm still too close to it to be able to judge if it's any good or if i actually like it, but hey, it's finished i can move on to the next thing now

now this is the fun bit, deciding what to do next. i have knitting on the needles and a hand sewing project on the go, but that's a quilt that i'm expecting to take 6 months or more so i'll leave that until i get the urge. i think it has to be another quilt, but a simple one, yeah i'll get prewashing tomorrow.

ps i'll post a link when i've blogged, it's in the wash at the moment so if it survives in one piece and i have the time i'll take pics tomorrow.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 11/07/2008 10:53

it's great when you finish a project isn't it - i look forward to seeing it

meridian · 11/07/2008 15:28

here is a thread from monday that I ment to share with you... talking with psychomum5 about my lovely childhood on the farm.. here

Tillyboo · 11/07/2008 19:43

Bloody English Summer.

Rain, Rain, Rain and more rain means this ...

The one good thing about wet days is that there is not a lot else to do other than create. Nothing on at the cinema, I don't do Soft Play and there's only so much play dough I can stomach.

While I sew, Boo sits and draws with me, copying my applique's. Such a lovely gentle time together

lucykate · 11/07/2008 21:18

well, i can now reveal all about the magazine, its blogged here the type error isn't too bad, my blog address is above instead of below, it's worse for the other person as their address is at the bottom of the page, oops!

sex & the city was good, i laughed and cried watching it!

Well I am tidying up my crafting space (ie the conservatory) & stashing my beads away for the mo. Summer is so bad so far that sitting in the conservatory is about as near as we can get to outside & we couldn't do that with every available surface full of beads!

I am trying to get myself organised, & maybe EBay some of my excess craft stuff but there just aren't enough hours in the day to sort everything out!

meridian · 12/07/2008 11:38

LK- if there is a typing error on it then I would see if the will do a correction in the next issue... so then you would be in two issues... perhaps we can get organized to get a few of us to e-mail some letters to the magazine about how fab you and your blog are...

lucykate · 12/07/2008 12:15

it's ok, i've already got something lined up for the next issue!

i got a little present today, all the way from new zealand, one of the swappers who i keep in contact with made me a toadstool!, makes up for the fact that i never actually received my swap toadstool, oh the perils of swaps

OP posts:
dizzyday07 · 12/07/2008 13:09

LK - I know how you feel. I'm still waiting for my Doll Swap but I've been promised that its on its way

vInTaGeVioLeT · 12/07/2008 13:22

oh Lucykate that's awful you never got your toadstool well you went to all the trouble of organizing the swap
my swap partner very kindly sent me three - would you like me to send you one of them?
