Nice One Dior. I had a comment on my blog once from someone I'd never heard of. I can only assume she'd got a link from one of you guys (no-one else has heard of me!!)

ranting · 09/07/2008 10:39

Morning,

Miaou, must email you about pattern, if you see me here later, give me a prod.

Have just finished a cotton grocery bag, (tis very fetching) and was mind numbingly soothing to crochet, just what I needed and now I have a bag to shove in my handbag and pull out (Voila!!) when I need to unexpectedly shop.

I feel very organised.

mistypeaks · 09/07/2008 10:56

ranting - that is a brilliant idea!!! I still want to learn to crochet. I don't see it happening soon though!
I've finished the main body of my knitted bag. Doing the strap now - as its only 6 stitches wide it is also mind numbingly soothing to knit. Put down/pick up. So easy. No purling or counting or patterns. Bliss.

Miaou · 09/07/2008 13:36

Ranting, I'm about for the rest of the day now if you want to mail me - or call me if it's easier!

Miaou · 09/07/2008 13:44

OK have blogged again - this time some stuff the kids have been doing here

incywincysam · 09/07/2008 13:56

Have popped over to see if lucykate is around? I posted about Blurb on the CF this morning. Check it out here

Definitely think that LK should do a bloggy tutorial book.

Hope your all having a good day. x
Sam.

justkeepswimming · 09/07/2008 20:05

tilly - i love those fabric baskets, think they would be perfect for storing all sorts of stuff in!

meri - espresso looks F A B
and well done on selling some bracelets - that must be such a cool feeling that someone is prepared to pay for something you have made

have been trying to keep with birthday cards here, nothing v inspiring as i feel so short of time, even now i am deciding between dinner/shower/early bed/more MNing but want to finish a card i started earlier.

righto, dinner first i think.

puppydavies · 09/07/2008 23:13

i've had a horrible day ending with a broken lamp all over my quilt anyone got any tips for getting glass out of fabric? will washing it just make it bed in more? i'm not sure i'll even be able to use it now.

puppydavies · 09/07/2008 23:17

nice shoes meri i also bought shoes today - couldn't help myself, too cheap, but they have been declared gopping by teh mumsnet style jury pah.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 10/07/2008 00:04

what a pisser about the exploding lamp puppydavies - you could try wrapping parcel tape round your hands and patting the glass off or use a "lint" remover roller thingy IYSWIM.
would be interested to hear what shoes got the thumbs down by the mumsnet jury - no dout all mine get the thumbs down {uggs - crocs - converse - birki's}

meridian · 10/07/2008 07:55

jks- thank you I hope you finished your card.

puppyd- sorry to hear about your broken lamp... I'm with VV though in using tape or a lint roller... then give it a wash and it should be ok. I want to see your unworthy shoes... and to be honest I doubt these would get approved either but I liked them they are purple with black swirls, flowers and a tiny little owl.. very me.. I don't do posh well and only margionally do funky... maybe if I was skinny but I doubt even then.. I shall stay round for now... no diet will power.

VV- I love converse.. I would have got some cheap while in the US but the style I liked wasn't in my size..boohoo...

should have some sterling findings delivered today so shall try to have a play with DS annoying me all day.

lucykate · 10/07/2008 10:17

pd, not sure what you can do with broken glass, but i'd take it outside, give it a good shake, and try hoovering it.

incy, i've seen the blurb site before, it was linked to from a blog, can't remember which. i already have book plans

i'm in a magazine, will let you all know more about that tomorrow when my copy arrives as i've not seen the article yet, although unfortunately, i've just been told there is a type error with my web address

OP posts:
puppydavies · 10/07/2008 11:11

oh bummer about the typo lk - hope it's obvious enough that people can work out the right one. do you do a lot of promotion work sending out samples and that kind of thing? (you're the jam pot lady right? do you sell on etsy or have a website/brick and mortar stockists? sorry i still don't quite remember who's who and i don't have time to trawl back through the enormous thread to check!)

i'm still wondering if selling handmade is an option for me so i'm super nosy about people who are actually doing it btw about 3 days after i found out about losing my job someone i used to work with walked in and offered me another! might only be a one-off rather than ongoing but am super grateful i have something else to keep me in fabric for the immediate future

shoes are on thread here

puppydavies · 10/07/2008 11:17

btw thanks for quilt commiseration was very much last straw last night i was in bits i hoovered up what i could see at the time but it was as i was laying binding out so i'm worried some has got into the folds. i think shaking outside is the way to go, and i guess while i'm applying the binding i should find any major bits. but i don't know how i'd feel about giving it to dd2 even after that. is nightmare - when i'm experimenting i don't care about how it looks as it will always be functional at least, but to end up with something i could only hang on the wall after all that work, oh i don't want to think about it
