heh i'm looking forward to your cunning plans for next month lk (while trying to read the tiny print on the picture so i don't have to shell out for the mag! )

i overcame crap-swap-angst by thinking about how chuffed my swappee must have been (it was a ring-style swap, not a paired one) cos i put together a kick-ass package. and now i come to think of it the karma does come back around, cos i won a blog draw (when i'd never won a thing in my life) for a quilt (which i'm reclining on as i type, it covers the hole in the sofa ) which has to be the best blog giveaway i've ever seen.

i finally blogged my quilt (is it just me doesn't see a project as finally finished until it's blogged?) today and now i'm off for an early night.

meridian · 13/07/2008 07:41

pd- I have left a comment! beautiful quilt, I'm sure it will be much loved as its fantastic.. so whats your next project then?

I really want to have a go at spoonflower... not that I know how to sew or anything I just fancy drawing my own sqiggles and turning them into fabric...
i have been accepted to spoonflower but havent drawn anything up yet becuse I don't know what size the scanned image and the file parameters have to be... I don't really know anything about designing fabric I jsut really want to have a go...

I think my little owl would make some fab fabric

puppydavies · 13/07/2008 09:33

spoonflower rocks, as long as you're prepared to accept the limitations of beta testing (some colour shifting and people have been having issues with grain being off). the file can be any size, they just tile it to fill the fabric, or you can set up a file that's the full size of the area you want to print (e.g. 36" x 42" for a full yard), but that can get tricky with maximum file sizes. if you go to the spoonflower blog they link to a tutorial on creating tiling patterns - you use the offset filter in photoshop, but i've also seen it demonstrated with drawing on a piece of paper, so you could even hand draw the whole thing and just scan it in. hang on i'll see if i can find you a link.

do have a go, it's so magical to have your own fabric

pd - that quilt is amazing!

jeangenie · 13/07/2008 23:19

blogged my latest knitted creation...whereby I snatched victory from the jaws of defeat...I think...it was very close...

Gingermonkey · 14/07/2008 10:54

pd - your quilt is beautiful, what great work!!!

puppydavies · 14/07/2008 11:10

i was heartbroken for you when i saw the pics on flickr genie - very nicely worked around. are there cables or something on the back? do they still work inside out? (i've never knitted a cable so i've no idea how reversible they might be).

thanks for the lovely comments everyone

i'm already half way through another quilt - well is exaggeration as top is done but that just involved 3 long seams - but now i'm waiting for the bits i ordered to finish it off. will try to finish of damned wool wrap in mean time - it's a tiny little thing but i've been stop-start with it for what feels like forever now.

meridian · 14/07/2008 14:21

pd- thanks for that. I have bookmarked the link... I will read all about it in a bit and get drawing... I;'m not sure what I will draw but something...

I have made some earrings and blogged them so please have a look and tell me what you thing..

TBH I could do with a bit of cheering up today... perhaps i'm just tired but I feel quite down and defeated today... maybe its the tons of housework I need to get done...

earrings

oh and have extended my giveaway till friday so if you haven't left a comment please do..

thanks

ok and to make a long post longer my goals for this week

design address stickers/labels
design spoonflower fabric (ha)
e-mail the gallery lady (I emailed a woman somone got me into contact with about my art work and she wants to see it in person at her gallery... eek... i sent her my blog addy so she should have seen my things from there.. but now i'm so doutful of myself and my artwork/illustrations/doodles...

jeangenie · 14/07/2008 14:43

meri - have commented and have also decided I want to arm wrestle you into doing a detox with me in late August/September...I'll need support and your comment about feeling crap and needing caffeine drew me to you like a bloodhound as that's how I feel most of the time and detoxing can really help...

anyone else want to sign up? (note that I just assume poor Meri will go along with my half baked caper - feel free to say no, obviously!)

pd - there aren't cables on that shrug - otherwise I would never have been able to do what I did (cables are one thing that aren't great when reversed) - the cables on the blog are on another cardi which is taking ages and which I interrupted to knit the little burnt offering!

I just had yummy sushi for lunch and am having a ciup of birt and tang detox tea (which is vile) with honey (which makes it quite pleasant) now and imagining I will be a stone lighter when I get home and look 5 years younger...a girl can have her fantasies...

I went shopping at lunchtime and came over all giddy and bought lots of clothes quite unsuitable for a middle aged mother of two...more the kind of things I would have worn in my art school days...they think at work that I may be going into a mid-life crisis and be buying a red ferrarri next...

Oh, my gocco arrived - yay hay - of course I only have enough bulbs to do two prints so I'll be stricken with terror at the prospect of wasting them and never use it now!!!

meridian · 14/07/2008 14:47

jg- if I detox with you can I come to your house and fondle play with your gocco? I'll order more bulbs and everything..

jeangenie · 14/07/2008 15:06

yep, of course you can...just don't bring any cakes ....argh...I can't believe I just said that....BRING CAKE...we'll have a day off!!! No no no - that's not the spirit is it?

actually- I was thinking that if anyone wants to try out the gocco I could organise something where you all come to mine and play... it would be fun but i'd need to have some test runs first and then order plenty of bulbs and extra screens and inks so everyone could do a design...

anyways, Meri I just emailed you...I'm in a rush as usual but I need something for my sister...I like this

meridian · 14/07/2008 15:53

jg- that sounds even more fun than the ally pally thing... or it could just be that i'm obsessed with all things gocco...

i could bring cookies instead of cake..

lucykate · 14/07/2008 21:14

just a quick pop by to get this back on my threads i'm on list. haven't done any sewing for what seems like ages now, dh been working all weekend so i've been looking after the dc's all weekend. i've only got this weds & thurs now on my own before the holidays start, and on weds it's dd's sports day, so that's that day gone, dh wants to take me out for lunch for my birthday but not sure we'll have time now, might just get take away tea instead, the kids love that!

Hello all - have just blogged my bag winner here - much excitement!

LK we are in the throes of school holidays here - it's quite hard to get anything done! Added to which ds1 decided he would start potty training today (ARGH) - yes I want him to do it, but there is just no good time, is there?

I need to do some concentrated blog-hopping but must get some sewing done whilst the little darlings are in bed

Morning, morning.

Lovely quilt btw.

Am feeling absolutely deflated the last couple of days, think I may be brewing a migraine (oh the joy). So apologies to Miaou for still not emailing, I will get sorted asap.

Miaou · 15/07/2008 11:37

Oh well done whoops, it will be nice to see some photos

sorry did I bully you about the dress? It will be worth it in the end if it looks right you know. And if you can do it once, you can do it with other dresses too ... think of it as a worthwhile exercise!

No worries ranting, whenever you are ready. I'm potty training ds1 at the moment (ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHH - sorry for shouting) so we aren't going anywhere

meridian · 15/07/2008 19:57

ranting- hope you feel better soon...

miaou-- good luck with the potty training.. when I potty trained DS it turned into the straw that broke the camels back.. or the last straw that dropped me down into depression.. I was headed that way anyway for a long time but DS was a total little sod... he would hide behind chairs or go in his playhouse to have a poo... we had to take it down for a couple of months... but he was good with wees and was dry at night from 14 months or so...
