New Year & a New thread - post what you hope to start/finish this week!

I have bought lots of fabby gemstones & I want to try & make some different types of jewellery, different ways of stringing etc.

DH also bought me some rainbow fluorite & I want to make myself a necklace & bracelet, although am still pondering what style I fancy!

(& my bog is sadly neglected, I must try harder!)

previously known as maximummummy but people normally got it wrong and called me maxi mummy

vInTaGeVioLeT · 27/01/2008 19:39

no i like it better like this
how bored am i?!!!

Whizzz · 27/01/2008 19:49

ooo GM aren't they lovely ! I love the rings I bet the maker must have very tough (or very damaged) fingers !!
I was talking to a lady at a bead fair that had a knitted wire & crystal bracelet on display - it was so delicate & she said it took an absolute age to make.

I have thought at having a go at chainmaille BUT I promised myself not to have half a go at things otherwise I end up with too many half done things (or completed things, done badly )

er I made cake today. Supernatural is on in a little while and must go watch it. did I mention my best friend got to meet Jensen Ackels (Dean) from Supernatural last week? she had been working as a PA on an indie film in LA and after the wrap party when to a club and met him. >

I've started knitting a scarf! The wool is a bit of a nightmare as its got bobbly bits in it but it's good fun. When I get a bit more done. I'll post a pic

Woo-Hoo ... have just blogged my first 'Huggly' doorstop with extra long ears..

He's residing here

Would really appreciate a thumbs up or down before I extend the range.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 27/01/2008 22:54

that's sweet! but as they are so heavy would you only be able to do them locally or would you supply them ready to fill?

Tillyboo · 27/01/2008 23:40

VV - I'm looking into using wheat (& lavender) as I think they'll still be sturdy enough but not as heavy as rice. But there is still the postage to consider.

The other option is as you say, to supply them empty but with a velcro opening so people can fill them themselves. Blimey, they'd have to be super neat on the inside too ....

I have been offered a chance to showcase some of my things at a local country interiors showroom so maybe I'll get some local 'filled' orders from that ..... just need to make a few more.

Gingermonkey · 28/01/2008 09:15

TB - it costs about a fiver to send 2kg by normal royal mail, which isn't as hugely expensive as you'd think, is it?

Gingermonkey · 28/01/2008 09:31

Greebos has started a new swap thread here. Go and sign up!!!!!

meridian · 28/01/2008 14:21

made this prehnite bracelet today but really I need to go do the house work as the place is a site from babysitting frizbe's girls and keeping everyone happy all day yesterday... so much for getting some painting done...

tilly- the door stop bunny is very cute, you should do some superhero bunnies ones... I have only seen a few diffrent doorstop animals in shops, one was a green velvet dog ( reminded me of the green caterpiller dog in the House2 movie and an elephant one that was cute but I didn't like the fabric used...

Ive got some felt beaded hearts hanging up at home in a similar vein.

I like the Easter eggs - did you use big/thick cutz with the felt, or did it work with thin dies? Ive managed to cut foam with thin cutz, but havent tried felt.

Whizzz · 28/01/2008 16:25

Aaaaaaaargh in sympathy Whizzz - I undid my sock yesterday cos I found two dropped stitches in it, and the tension was all over the place. Which meant that it kept sliding off the needles, which is probably why I dropped the stitches!

Dior - thats good news, I shall try that.

Ive got a new toy - my Crop A Dile came today, and I cant believe how easily it sets eyelets. I normally bend them by being too enthusiastic with the hammer!

meridian i love that bracelet - it's a lovely shade of green and that toggle is good too - i always have a job doing up my own braclets.

whizzz how annoying for you - do you think the guilty party will 'fess up?

i bought a ball off knobbly wool today as ds wants a scarf and i've even started knitting it but am now doubting i'll have enough wool for a scarf even for a little one i might have do put in some different coloured stripes!!!
