Weekly Challenge Thread (New one, can't find old one ????)

I don't know what's going on but this is the third post I've tried. If this fails I'm going to give up.

Anyway, I can't seem to find the old thread for some reason, my laptop is doing funny things so maybe it's at my end?

Anyway, I cannot see what you all have achieved so far this week but here is my blog with what I have done or you can have a peep in my profile but the pictures are quite diddy

TillyBoo, good luck with the craft fair.
Am so jealous of you all getting to do them.
I'm going to get my name down for our local one for easter and then one at the begining of June.

Can I just ask, the prices for the stall are £35 and thats a 6ft table for the full day. Does that seem reasonable?

LK, Thanks for that bit of advice. I adopted my mums sewing machine a few weeks ago so I can have a whizz on it. Although I am rubbish at setting them up!
I was thinking of having a crack at making one of those Steiner Dolls that are on Soos's blog.
The tutorial looks very good so I shouldnt be able to mess it up!

Anyone made any Christmas bunting yet? I'll race you.

i think gingermonkey needs reporting to the rspca (or should that be the rspcm?!!) for cruelty to monkeys, have you seen this??

Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 03/12/2007 12:43

LOL
I love it

Gingermonkey · 03/12/2007 15:43

oooooooooh, that monkeemaker is constantly taunting me with her cruelty to poor 007, I've warned her before that I'll go down to Bristol and rescue him, I've got her address now after buying some christmas cards from her [GM puts on balaclava black cat suit and prepares to rescue that poor monkee]

Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 03/12/2007 15:52

Ok I think I may have done something really bad.

I've bought some felt and am making a steiner doll.
I am very very happy

Felt is now my new best friend.

GreebosWhiskers · 03/12/2007 16:01

Love the fleece bauble Soupy & the monkey in the cupboard is fab

GingerMonkey sorry the fair was such a wash-out. Was that at one of the posh schools? IMO the reason rich people are rich is they don't like to part with the cash
btw the Boosh are supposed to be touring again soon (we went to see them in Edinburgh last year & they were amazing - I was only just pg with ds at the time & honestly thought at one point that I'd wet myself and Noel Fielding ran past my seat close enough to grab swoon). Keep an eye on the web site if you're interested in going as I suspect they'll sell out fast.

GreebosWhiskers · 03/12/2007 16:06

Can I please just ask people to leave a suggestion for an Etsy name on my thread or my blog?

I've changed my mind (surprise surprise) & the name doesn't necessarily have to have anything to do with crochet - I just want something funky.

Many thanks to everyone who has made a suggestion so far

Gingermonkey · 03/12/2007 16:19

GW - so true about rich people. DD goes to a posh school, but we are poor (because school fees are sooooooooooooooooo blooming expensive and I can't stop buying fabric )

Hoorah for the Boosh tour - did you see it the other night, I was laughing so much by the future sailors song, there are actual RL people like that in London, whenever we go down to visit (much trendier) friends I am by some of the things people wear. Did you ever watch Nathan Barley? That is DH's fave ever programme. His best ever present was the DVD, he would watch it all day every day if he could.

Tillyboo · 03/12/2007 23:17

Yey ! Just finished my big order of bunnies. I have a whole warren sat on my dining room table. 3 have already escaped to their new homes to make more baby bunnies.

I'll post some pics tomorrow. I've cut out another 2 neddies and another big bunny and little bunny to make up for the fair on Saturday so guess what I'll be doing tomorrow whilst dd is at pre-school.

Roll on Monday - we are off to Longleat centre parcs and not a sewing machine in sight !

I'm off to bed with Philip Pullman now [grin[

Tillyboo · 03/12/2007 23:18

Oh arse ... that should be

GreebosWhiskers · 04/12/2007 09:24

Well done Tilly - aren't you all bunnied out now?
Can't wait to see the pics

GingerMonkey I thought the 4-way crimp the other night was fantastic! We made the mistake of giving dd1 & dd2 the first series on dvd & they know all the songs off by heart & are prone to bursting out with them whenever the fancy takes them I did start to let dd2 watch the stage show dvd the other week - have you seen it? I switched it off when I remembered the bit about stump-f*cking

Gingermonkey · 04/12/2007 10:24

Well done TB!!!!!!!! Bet you can't wait for monday!
GW the 4 way krimp was just amazing, I'm getting the stage show DVD for DH for chrimbo. He was muttering last night about losing his precious Nathan Barley dvd too, so I need to see if I can find it and if not get him another one.(Ds has a habit of putting things in the bin that shouldn't go there) He'll just sit and watch Boosh and Nathan Barley all christmas laughing to himself. Did you see them on Jonathan Ross? Julian always looks so afraid, bless him. (do you think we are the only 2 Boosh freaks on A&C? )

GreebosWhiskers · 04/12/2007 10:54

It looks like we are GM I saw them on Jonathan Ross t'other night & I have to confess I'm developing a bit of a soft spot for Julian The stage show was fab - they even had the moon! And they could get away with all the swearing etc that they hadn't been allowed to do on the beeb so I was very glad we didn't take the dds after all. I haven't heard of Nathan Barley - will see if dh has.

Tillyboo · 04/12/2007 12:14

I've only seen bits of Boosh but have a feeling it'd be my sort of humour. What do you suggest I get DVD wise ? Probably for hubbies stocking.

We like Man Stroke Woman, Titty Bang Bang, Black Book - that sort of humour. Ooh plus the Magna Farta (Viz Profanisaurus) .... so would that qualify us to like The mighty Boosh ??

I seem to remember one of the pair is really shy and withdrawn in real life unless it was all a gag for the interview. He genuinely looked very uncomfortable in an interview situation whereas the dark haired one (sorry don't know names) is quite animated.Blimey !!!!

OP posts:
lucykate · 04/12/2007 12:24

we watched the mighty boosh for the first time on sunday, hardly watch tv in the evenings but dh had just got back from eire and was tired, saw the 4 way crimp

have just blogged my first tutorial, had to make an hat last night!

lucykate · 04/12/2007 12:25

that was meant to say an elf hat

Tillyboo · 05/12/2007 12:17

FINISHED ... my bunnies at last, hurray

I'm off for a lie down now.

OP posts:
Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 05/12/2007 12:41

Loving the elf hat LK!
Its brilliant.

Well done on bunny completion too Tilly

DD was very pleased with her little doll and I did ds a weirdy alien/owl/bunny yesterday which he seems to like

Today I'm making a bigger doll for dd but being a little more adventurous with it.

Amazing what you do when your overdue lol.

Gingermonkey · 05/12/2007 13:45

well done tb, and nbg - you're still here???!!!
LK I only just remembered DS needed an elf costume for fri, so have just fashioned him a half arsed one out of an old t-shirt of grandad's I happened to have in the utility room (let's hope grandad didn't want it back!)some felt, and an old t-shirt of his (thank you for the hat tutorial!!!) and now I can breathe. I think he'll look more (snow white and the) seven dwarves than elf - but it's done now, and at least I didn't resort to buying a scratchy one from woolies or somewhere .
This week I have been finishing off the decorations for the holiday ornament swap on freshly blended and posting them off to the other side of the world, I am almost done with the llama that I have been on with for what seems like forever, and have done 2 horses to go to Oz (australia, not the wizard of...) for the daughters of 2 friends. And I made another owl garland with merry christmas on for my best friend. What else? I have finished a couple of cushions, I will put pics on my blog at some point - when Monkee Maker and me stop battling over that poor 007 monkee!!!

Next week my list is as follows:
:: make a wheat bag for best friend's daughter for christmas
:: 2 x lavender mice sets for best friend's mum

and write and send my christmas cards!!!!

Dingle · 05/12/2007 20:20

Oh I am soooo of all your crafting!!! I have DD off of school bless her and I am getting nothing done but an odd row of knitting every now and then.

Whizzz · 05/12/2007 20:37

Well I have got myself into gear. I have made an ocean japser bracelet & necklace for a MNetter (I winced when I had to wrap up the necklace 'cos I wanted to keep it ). I took some stuff into work & sold 2 necklaces and 5 pairs of earrings today!
I've being playing with the gemstones I bought & have made a blue goldstone bracelet (midnight blue with teeny sparkly bits) and a haematite bracelet & have more scrummy stones to play with tomorrow .

jeangenie · 05/12/2007 23:11

I made my first bag, with a little appliqued treeon - was fun. I had optimistically hoped to do about 6 of them as DD1 is having a craft and movie afternoon with some schoolfriends on saturday and I thought they'd be nice for the kids to take their crafty creations home in, but time has escaped me and I still just have one! Have posted it on my blog
I've also got on ravellry and found someone on there who was trying to offload the very yarn I need to do some more loopy teacosies, I am picking that up tomorrow and will be starting the teacosies shortly after..

so, for next week:
teacosy
rice heat bag for my sister
some more playing around with fabric
a dress for my doll - does anyone on here make doll's clothes? I don't really know where to start

whizz - have you posted pictures of your latest creations yet? they sound gorgeous

GreebosWhiskers · 06/12/2007 09:22

GingerMonkey are you around? You might want to take a look at my blog.

The bag is gorgeous jeangenie - I'd love to be able to sew but the needle just doesn't do what I want it to which is why most of my stuff is crochet together.

Have you posted your new stuff yet Whizzz? Can you post another link to your blog please?

Gingermonkey · 06/12/2007 10:48
