For those who are/want to be involved in making a yarn blanket for EdgarAleNPie this is your crochet thread! I'll post patterns and advice, and hopefully so will other crocheters! Here's a basic Granny square:

1/ Ch2, 4tc in 2nd ch from hook. Slst to join.

2/ Ch2, 3tc ch1 in each st around, join w slst (12 sts)

3/ Ch2 turn, 3tc ch1 3tc in gaps (this makes a corner). Join w slst.

This gives you the square shape. As you increase, the number of gaps to crochet in between corners will increase. Keep increasing until it measures 6" or 15cm - think that's usually another 2 rows? Smile

I've done two, and would quite like to do a third. I'm hawking for a yarn swap so I can do a multicoloured one. Anyone want some lovely lilac in return for a contrasting colour?

frazzledblob · 01/04/2011 21:24

Spawn - your square is lovely :)

I have 3 shades of green and some red/pink if thats any use?

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 02/04/2011 10:12

I got my wool by a lovely donor today, a beautiful ball of Debbie 256.
Will start tonight - any ideas how many squares you get out of one ball?

nickelbabyhatcher · 02/04/2011 10:14

Spawn - i've sent you a PM about yarn swap. :)

EllenJane1 · 02/04/2011 19:39

purplepidjin, I've just found the note I meant to put in with my squares to let you know who they were from and to say thank-you to you for all the sewing! Dur! So, thank-you for all the sewing.

purplepidjin · 04/04/2011 10:20

No probs, EJ!

I don't want to sound needy, but I still haven't received my envelope - should I just send my square?
Although I don't know where to send it...

nickelbabyhatcher · 05/04/2011 10:31

Spawn - I sent your yarn yesterday afternoon, first class, so you should receive it today of tomorrow.

purplepidjin · 05/04/2011 10:46

nickel PM Pixie, she's co-ordinating that side of things, and may not see your post here...

I don't want to look like i'm nagging her... Blush

purplepidjin · 05/04/2011 12:39

That's what she volunteered for! And, it's the only way you'll get your answer!

I'm not your mother, and I won't PM her for you...

Grin meanie!

nickelbabyhatcher · 05/04/2011 12:46

I've pm'ed her - she thinks it must have been lost in the post. :(

ohboob · 12/04/2011 11:02

My square has now gone off so hopefully it will arrive in a couple of days. I can't wait to see photos of the finished quilt.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 13/04/2011 16:01

I was just wondering if there is a date we need to have our squares finished by?

I think mine are going to end up boring and plain because I only have one ball in one colour.. :/

frazzledblob · 13/04/2011 16:32

ivy what colour are you using? I am sure they will all be lovely :)

There are some great patterns out there that use the different stitches to create texture and would make one colour more interesting?

example here

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 14/04/2011 10:55

it's a really nice greyish blue.
thanks for that pattern, great idea!
