ok, I am a very basic knitter. I cant read patterns and can do a basic row, but want to knit a square of edgar (as Im sure lots of others do) so it was suggested on the other thread here that a thread was started for the less confident where we can collate advice and help without feeling a bit dim and where the more advanced can help us out a bit!

Ooh, London's only a couple of hours on the train! I popped up last weekend to see a mate and have grub in Chinatown (probably didn't pick the best Saturday night to go LOL)

Beautiful pics I look forward to seeing them in real life Grin

Hello, just wanted to check- the deadline is this weekend coming, isn't it? I have had a work deadline that has left virtually no knitting time but I have done one square and hope to get several more done before I need to post them.

Have only skimmed through the thread- I thought I saw a reference to a Ravelry group but I can't find it on Ravelry. Has anyone got details?

LadyWellian · 03/04/2011 23:12

Thanks Purplepidjin. Maybe we should set up some MN knitting/crochet groups!

purplepidjin · 04/04/2011 08:36

Fishcake, there is an informal deadline of this Friday but i will save you a space, don't worry Smile

LadyW, that's a brilliant idea. We could take over a Starbucks once a month, steal all the highchairs, drink one coffee throughout the 4 hours, then stop at Greggs for lunch and to feed the kids on sausage rolls and Fruit Shoots!

All whilst armed with needles and hooks Grin

Wow! That looks amazing! I see my squares!

tinierclanger · 04/04/2011 13:30

Oh it looks beautiful! I posted mine today- they're going to look a bit dull in among that lot but I suppose the boring ones set off the glam ones.

purplepidjin · 04/04/2011 13:31

tinier, viewed alone they all look a bit odd. It's only impressive when viewed en masse...

BTF, feel free to find me on fb and I'll tag you Grin

purplepidjin · 04/04/2011 13:32

Actually that goes for any one who can follow the trail and figure out my real identity its not terribly hard good job I'm upfront about stuff lol

KnittingRocks · 04/04/2011 14:21

Loving the idea of an MN Stitch 'n' Bitch group!

KnittingRocks · 04/04/2011 14:23

The squares are gorgeous so far Smile.

wooldonor · 04/04/2011 15:02

Hello lovely knitting ladies.

I arranged for some wool to be sent to an address in Devon and want to make sure its arrived - are any of you the knitter ? It was some blue Debbie Bliss wool.

To preserve anonimity a PM would be fine.

You are all doing amazing work, keep it up

zisforzebra · 04/04/2011 22:14

Mine is done but I've only done one is that okay or shall I do a couple more before deadline?

purplepidjin · 05/04/2011 10:58

zis, whatever you would like to contribute is ace. One of the ones I like the best is pale green and lilac stripes, plain knitted, unblocked and just turned up in the envelope with no ID... It looks stunning! It's a total one of a kind, and looks really nice among the rest. I bet whoever made it is feeling Blush because "Mine's not as good as everyone else's, because they've all done clever techniques" when

THAT'S NOT WHAT IT'S ABOUT Grin

JemimaMop · 05/04/2011 14:14

Ooh I can see one of my squares in that pic, how exciting! Grin

purplepidjin · 05/04/2011 15:25

Tag it!!!

silkenladder · 05/04/2011 17:16

Wow, those squares are beautiful.

I'm working on square no. 4, but I haven't blocked any yet. If I wash them, how long will they take to dry? (Some are quite undersized, so def need blocking.)

I can't imagine I will get them in the post before Friday, so they won't arrive before the middle of the week as coming from Germany. Hope that's ok (and will pm, er, someone when I've sent them).

purplepidjin · 05/04/2011 17:31

Silken, I will save a space for your 4. I'd imagine overnight near a radiator would be fine? Some of them mine are unblocked and are absolutely fine. I've quickly learned how to adjust for different numbers of rows etc Smile so can cope with probably half an inch either way

JemimaMop · 05/04/2011 18:13

Have liked and tagged Grin

purplepidjin · 05/04/2011 18:25

yay! are you my 100th liker?

JemimaMop · 05/04/2011 18:49

No I was #99 :(

purplepidjin · 05/04/2011 19:18

I'll do it again for 120, I think. It's fun and an awesome charity!

Liking, or looking at the rest of my page, is not obligatory, btw. It's just convenient because i'm a lazy bint

JemimaMop · 05/04/2011 21:08

Actually it gave me a bit of a push to think about knitting for charity, I've been meaning to do something for years.

purplepidjin · 05/04/2011 22:12

Excellent, we have yet more amazing things coming from this Grin

MinnieBar · 06/04/2011 07:46

Purple my one Blush is coming, please save me a space if possible! After buying yet another pair of needles it now seems I'm coming up for 5.5" but hopefully blocking will sort that. I'm a football widow tonight so I'll get it done then.
