AIBU Books Game Part Seven

CJCregg · 27/05/2010 17:52

Hi all, here we are again ...

As always, everyone welcome to pile in with AIBU book synopses, as long as you bring ice cream or something equally tempting for when we're stuck.

To continue mine - I'm in charge but it's terribly difficult to keep control. I don't know how long I can keep their respect. I didn't ask to be in charge ...

...He's my boss's husband. Well, I call her my boss, but she's more family than I have at home...

Pogleswood · 03/09/2010 13:10

Hmm,so would you like to replace him in her life,Elephants?

.....entrapment - obviously he prefers me,which is what I told her...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 03/09/2010 13:56

...Not really, I'm a girl after all, but he's not good enough for her, and I blame him for all the dodgy men hanging around the house...

NI on Pogle's...sounds slightly familiar but...no.

Pogleswood · 03/09/2010 17:44

Dodgy men? Are you in service? MCP!

...ah,there seems to have been a case of mistaken identity.Thank goodness,I was so happy to have become engaged...

I think I'll keep Twilight for when I've nothing else to read then,Moomin!

CJCregg · 04/09/2010 10:38

Morning all!

No idea on anyone's . But just wanted to say that I too bought Twilight (a foolish friend said I would 'love it') and couldn't get past chapter three. Ghastly twaddle.

Am tearing my hair out because in the new house (thankfully only rented) there is no configuration of furniture placement that allows me to have my tottering piles. They may have to

go into storage.

But before they do, WIBU to try to help?

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 04/09/2010 11:48

Hooray, CJ! .

I still have boxes in the dining room, the garage, DS' official room and the smallest room . As we will be moving again in a few months (eeek!) I'm torn between ignoring them or going through them and clearing out the junk .

And well done, llandb, have some bread and milk, and blackberries.

MCP on everyone's!

AIBU to say I'd send the money?

Pogleswood · 04/09/2010 19:01

Wotcha,CJ!

Takeaway,just what I need...is there beer??

When we were moving the estate agent looked round our cluttered and bookcase lined house and said "What you need to do is put all this into storage..." Luckily DH and I were equally appalled by the thought of an unspecified time with all our books somewhere else, and as it turned out,it would have been for 18 months - it is just as well we ignored him!

You're moving again, Moomin??

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 04/09/2010 23:16

Getting a distinctly 19th century vibe from Pogle's...just seeing bonnets though, no clear details

Pogleswood · 05/09/2010 11:30

Well, your vibes are spot on about the century,Elephants, but the bonnets must have crept in from somewhere else! Hats, yes, bonnets - no!

...I spoke too soon - it seems that we have both been decieved, and that neither of us is engaged after all Sad...

MCP,Moomin and CJ - do you actually have the money,Moomin?

llandb · 05/09/2010 18:20
MoominMymbleandMy · 06/09/2010 12:12

Afternoon, all!

Still completely clueless here

And yes, we will be moving again, once our own house has finished eating money (which it does very well). I'm hoping fervently that will be the last time for a long time.

...Well, I've got the first instalment and I'm sure it won't be that hard to find the rest of the money...

MCP!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 06/09/2010 12:27

Ooh Moomin, that sounds... Have you signed up for some kind of piecework, or book/mag series? can't remember your exact identity unless you have a sister who will grow up to live on a hen farm?

MoominMymbleandMy · 06/09/2010 17:09

Aha, Elephants, do I detect another Betty MacDonald fan? Not that my AIBU is a Betty MacDonald, but it's always lovely to run into someone else who's heard of her.Smile

Umm, any chance of some more clues on the dodgy boss, the snooty aristocrat and the helpful person? Pretty please?

...I've sent off the first £10. I'm sure I'll be able to find another £10 next month. Won't I?...

Pogleswood · 06/09/2010 19:41

I know who you are,Moomin!
Getting the money may be harder than you think, and involve Street Art,robbing the Post Office, and corrupting a small child - be very careful!

I've done mine before, and someone got it instantly - this was obviously a better approach to take!

....there may be a Happy Ending -our fiances are prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice - they plan to be christened this afternoon...(!)

CJCregg · 06/09/2010 20:34

Pogle, I suspect you of being someone who likes something sensational to read on the train!

I have to help, it's looking quite dangerous. I'm only doing what anyone would ...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 07/09/2010 07:09

Almost,CJ - that's her! (that is she??)

I have a profile with social possibilities, and a hundred and thirty thousand pounds in the funds...

MCP!

CJCregg · 08/09/2010 18:23

Oh, I knew it was one or the other but I knew I'd get the wrong one!

Well, I did everything I could but I had to give up in the end. Really sad that someone had to die ... but he just wouldn't give up.

(I have a horrible feeling I've done this one before Grin. My excuse is the tottering piles being in boxes so not enough reference points - feeble, I know)

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 10/09/2010 12:45

Afternoon, all!

Utterly baffled here . What was your one, Pogle?

MCP or just plain help!

Pogleswood · 10/09/2010 13:25

Afternoon!
I was Cecily Cardew from The Importance of Being Earnest,Moomin.

TBH,I'm surprised you have to ask about your son-in-law...are there circumstances under which this would be not U?? (I'm sure you'll tell us!

Thanks for the book!

Is "someone had to die" another way of saying "I had to kill him" CJ?

MCP

MoominMymbleandMy · 10/09/2010 14:18

Ah, thank you, Pogle!

...Well, I was feeling a bit down. I'd just discovered my husband was having an affair with his secretary...

MC pretty P, CJ!

CJCregg · 10/09/2010 19:06

MOOMIN! Are you entangled in an uncomfortable flower arrangement?! Is your DH rather too fond of your daughter, as well as his secretary?

It wasn't my fault the other man died. We were all trying to help, but we gradually realised it wasn't any good. He refused to give up, though ...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 10/09/2010 19:21

I am visualising you at sea,CJ...
(or maybe it's just that I'm at sea Grin)

Am also having problems now due to visions of Moomin entangled in a flower arrangement...

MoominMymbleandMy · 10/09/2010 22:52

Grin I am indeed, CJ, and very prickly it is too! Have some barbed wire, I'm sure it will come in useful.

So was that ultra-rapid identification from the book, the other night's TV, or sneakily getting a glimpse of that very, very 'norty' programme everyone talked about in the 1970s when they thought we weren't listening? Wink

I'm at sea too, CJ, take pity on us or we won't share the treacle tart.

AIBU to worry about the boy?

CJCregg · 10/09/2010 23:11

Woop, woop! I knew it was that, but I couldn't believe you would do it, Moomin!

Severely helped by watching it the other night, and never read the book, but ashamed to say that I actually watched quite a lot of it the first time round Shock. I was far too young, obviously, but Andrea Newman was an old flame/friend of my stepfather's and used to come round for dinner sometimes, so it was watched and discussed a lot. (My mum said the other day 'God, she was a boring cow!').

Phew, very relieved at having got one after a very dry spell Grin.

I'm not at sea. In a country field, having an innocent picnic ... Grin

What's wrong with the boy? Is he sickly?
