Hi all, here we are again ...

As always, everyone welcome to pile in with AIBU book synopses, as long as you bring ice cream or something equally tempting for when we're stuck.

To continue mine - I'm in charge but it's terribly difficult to keep control. I don't know how long I can keep their respect. I didn't ask to be in charge ...

I'm going to have to give those a go, Pogle! They sounds like my sort of thing, they does.

I've never read the Tulip Touch, but I was a big fan of Anne Fine when I was younger - Slummy Mummy and Me and Bill's New Dress are the ones that stand out in my mind, along with Goggle-Eyes.

...No, we're very close to home, but we just can't get there! All these schoolchildren are stuck too...

Pogleswood · 28/08/2010 11:16

Hi,all - and specifically Treacle,cos it's tomorrow you go,yes?
So if you are here over the weekend, have a fantastic time - pity you can't send us a postcard!I for one would love to hear about it when you get back, too,if we're still here...

And to return to the business in hand, are you on a broken down train?!?

MoominMymbleandMy · 28/08/2010 14:45

Oh, goodness, yes, Happy Intrepid Adventuring, Treacle!Smile

We'll miss you and will be awaiting the tale of all your adventures (and the lamb's) very impatiently. Best of luck.

In the meantime, are you entangled?

...I don't understand it. It's Tuesday, September 11, 2001 again but the planes haven't crashed. Which you'd think would be wonderful, only it means someone's been messing about with time...

steamedtreaclesponge · 28/08/2010 15:21

Goodbye, everyone! I shall try and pop in from an internet cafe in Mongolia or somewhere and surprise you all Grin

And mine was Mary Kate and the School Bus, since I won't be around to give you any more clues...

See you all in December!

llandb · 28/08/2010 18:27

'Ello all! (waves goodbye to Treacle and gives lamb scratch behind ear)

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 28/08/2010 21:41

Best of luck treacle, hope you have some amazing adventures and come back safe with a baby yak for us all to play with.

CJCregg · 29/08/2010 20:58

Popping in very quickly to say BYE! to Treacle. Have an amazing time - we will miss you xx

Afternoon, all!

...So it's up to us to save the future. Not that we have much choice. I'm sure Liam doesn't want to go back to the Titanic...

Pogleswood · 31/08/2010 21:17

Chocolate Broooownies! Yay!

MoominMymbleandMy · 01/09/2010 02:06

Yep, very recent, Pogle. Natch, it is my duty to know what DD is reading these days. Wink

...And I shouldn't imagine Maddy wants to go back to the plane a split-second before it blows up...

MCP, unless you are referring to the revoltingly drippy heroine of the truly awful money-spinning novel I wickedly made a protesting DD buy the other day on the ground that it was less shameful for her to be seen with it at the till, than it would be for me .

Pogleswood · 01/09/2010 07:54

Of course you must know what DD is reading,Moomin!

...irritated as I am by her sudden appearance and patronising behaviour, not to mention the accusations,I couldn't honestly describe her as revoltingly drippy...

(making DD buy books you are ashamed to be seen with? tut, tut! I expect you use DD's library card for similiar reasons....no,hang on - that's me! Grin)

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 01/09/2010 09:37

I haven't got any ideas on anyone's. Room on the raft?

MoominMymbleandMy · 01/09/2010 14:43

Oh poor, poor Elephants!

Did this snooty, patronising person interrupt your bulb planting, Pogle?

DD grumbled but I think she was afraid I might kiss her in public if she didn't take it up to the till for me.Grin And it was indeed very, very awful, so much so it ended up being quite funny.

...And I don't want to go back to 2026 and die in a fire...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 01/09/2010 15:15

AIBU to wish he wasn't around?

MoominMymbleandMy · 01/09/2010 15:38

"Groffles", now that's a word I've not come across before. I think we might have to adopt it.Grin

Or might the snooty person be a bit aggrieved because her nevvy's quite keen on you instead of her DD, Pogle?

Depends on the "he", Elephants. MCP!

...Poor old Foster looks as though he's going to keel over anyway, whether we restore the future or not...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 01/09/2010 16:05

Glad you like it, Moomin. It happens a lot round here.

Google magic suggests that YANBU to be fed up with the time loop, but since you're all that's standing between humanity and historical chaos, it'd be much appreciated if you carried on!

MoominMymbleandMy · 01/09/2010 20:55

Oh well, as I say, it's either stick with being one of the Time Riders reliving the same two days indefinitely or die a horrible death, so I expect we'll carry on saving mankind for a while.

Not sure there are any worthwhile prizes here, unless you fancy a repulsive subhuman cannibal from an alternative future? It might be trainable.

MCP!

Pogleswood · 01/09/2010 21:44

No to both ,Moomin (though she is aristocratic - tendency to stereotype the aristocracy happily derailed by thoughts of Rose's viscountess....)
What was your shameful book then?? 'fess up!

I think it depend what fate you were wishing on him if he wasn't around,Elephants

Is the truth likely to upset them,Moomin?

...She has been quite snobbish about my social standing, rude about the country, and difficult about tea...

llandb · 02/09/2010 09:59
MoominMymbleandMy · 02/09/2010 16:01

Afternoon, all!

Pogleswood · 02/09/2010 17:06

Plenty of room for upset there - murdered, drowned, eaten by wolves...? They do know he is dead,do they?
I've never quite got round to reading Twilight etc - should I bother?

....and she had the nerve to accuse me of entrapment!...

MCP!

llandb · 02/09/2010 18:24
llandb · 02/09/2010 18:39
MoominMymbleandMy · 02/09/2010 23:11

Pogle, I read Twilight etc because The Red House sold them for next to nothing and I wanted to know what the fuss was about. The first one is paced well and very good at recreating the atmosphere of adolescent obsession, but the heroine is wetter than a haddock's bathing suit. The series then gets progressively worse.

Still clueless here. MCP!

...He was murdered and eaten!...

llandb · 03/09/2010 00:45

Moomin! Was it that rascally Mr McGregor wot dunnit?
