AIBU Books Game Part Six

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 19:16

Now, we're on thread number six!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to think I'm seeing a ghost?

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 23/04/2010 14:06

Oh dear, you still sound exactly like Aravis to me, Treacle. MCP! (Off to e-mail you now)

Pogle, DH has often said we sound like complete lunatics but he always adds that we're very well-read lunatics, which is something.

...He never liked her. But I've always been kind to him...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 23/04/2010 14:12

[Grin] I quite fancy having "Well read Lunatic" on a T shirt...

steamedtreaclesponge · 23/04/2010 16:33

Yes, I am, Moomin! Sorry, totally missed that

Not having the most intelligent of days today. Am now sinking my woes in a large glass of pink champagne at my desk and trying to pretend to the rest of the office that I'm not slightly tipsy...

I am definitely a well read lunatic. Maybe I should make us all badges.

MCP!

Pogleswood · 23/04/2010 17:00

You are managing to drink pink champagne at work?
Wow,I am impressed(though sympathetic,if you are are drowning your sorrows!) - our tipple at work is cold coffee... (client: ooh, drink your coffee,it'll get cold - me:yes, that's Ok I'm used to it...sigh)

AIBU to love my aunt?

MoominMymbleandMy · 23/04/2010 17:05

Pink champagne in the office! How decadent, Treacle. The classiest I ever got was a coffee with froth on top!

I would love a badge saying "Well read Lunatic".

...It was an accident, anyway. I was trying to protect him. She was so angry with him for shouting a warning...

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 23/04/2010 17:07

On this thread, yes YABVU, Pogle! But no doubt you have your reasons. MCP!

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 23/04/2010 19:50

Sadly the champagne is not a usual thing for us either - or perhaps I should say fortunately, I'm not sure I'd get much done otherwise!

Moomin, yours is sounding very familiar but I need more clues, please!

Still stuck on everyone else's...

AIBU to have two lovers?

CJCregg · 23/04/2010 20:25

Treacle, are they twins?

MoominMymbleandMy · 23/04/2010 20:48

A bit greedy perhaps, Treacle. I'm also wondering if you're in Camomile Lawn territory.

MCP all!

...I thought she would hurt him. I was just trying to pull her away. Why did I ever marry such a sour, spiteful nag...

OP posts:
pollywollydoodle · 23/04/2010 20:52

treacle, are you a prince and he a pauper?

SnowWoman · 24/04/2010 09:28

Sorry everyone, I didn't mean to post an AIBU and run...

May I have a blue t-shirt please? well-read lunatics - i love it, as good as dd1's 'Buffy staked Edward'

anyway my uncle, I wish he would get married, he keeps bringing all these girls to our house for inspection, so to speak.

MoominMymbleandMy · 24/04/2010 10:31

Ooh, quite fancying a Van Helsing staked Edward t-shirt now, if there is such a thing.

Still NIMCP here!

...We were struggling and she bit me hard. So I shoved her away and she fell...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 24/04/2010 13:32

Actually if it wasn't going to out me to any passing mumsnetter I'd like a t-shirt saying 'I Spend Too Much Time On AIBU Books.....'

Moomin, that doesn't sound good - have you killed her then?
Everyone else,NIMCP!

...anyway,I do love her - I think Mum wishes she was a bit more like other people, but I think she's cool...

MoominMymbleandMy · 24/04/2010 14:19

Well, they could certainly narrow you down to a member of a small group of time-wasting bookworms.

Your one is beginning to niggle a bit, Pogle. MCP!

...I'm afraid she is dead. And the boy's disappeared. But I'm sure he won't say anything. We've always been pals...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 24/04/2010 18:10

...she was a teacher, but she doesn't work now.Mum thinks I should call her Auntie but I don't, I just call her by her name. She doesn't call me by my proper name either...

MCP!

steamedtreaclesponge · 25/04/2010 09:50

Morning, all!

And MCP!

...No princes sadly, but none of us are that poor either, since our act's been doing so well...

Poledra · 26/04/2010 00:10

Evening all. Have dragged myself away from the Marlowes to come here and effusively thank Pogle for scanning all this and CJ for emailing it to me. I am so enjoying it.

Mwah mwah!!

Pogle, your AIBU is sounding so familiar but it's hding over the darkest recesses of my mind - MCP!

Pogleswood · 26/04/2010 07:08

Glad you're enjoying it,Pol!

...she's got a boyfriend now, they came to watch me play my violin at school.(She doesn't usually come to things)He's really nice...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 26/04/2010 16:12

are you hiding a massive secret about your identity, treacle?

yours sounds faintly familiar Moomin, bit it might just be too much Foyle's War!

M C P !

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/04/2010 17:55

Budge up in the boat and pass the chocolate please. Completely NIMCP here.

...If I shift her and say she slipped on the basement steps, they'll believe it, won't they? Of course, I've got to get Emmy out of the house before I call anyone...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 26/04/2010 19:00

Evening all!

Act,Treacle? Circus,theatre?
Yours sounds as if it ought to be recognisable,Moomin...
Do you live with your Uncle,Snow?

...but now she's gone all weird and I can't talk to her anymore.Mum says she's seeing a shrink. She says she is the same as she always was but better - but I liked her the way she was before...

CJCregg · 26/04/2010 21:05

lost ... lost ... lost ...

MoominMymbleandMy · 27/04/2010 00:48

Me too, CJ! Good thing we've got a good supply of rations in the boat.

Mine was also a film, by the way, in which no one disparaged the Swiss for inventing cuckoo clocks (always wanted one but when DH went to Switzerland and saw the prices he fell out of the shop and brought us home chocolate and Moomin mugs instead)

...I wonder how she knew about Emmy. The boy knew because he saw us in the tea shop. But he wouldn't have split on his old pal Baines...

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 27/04/2010 09:15

After some judicious googling, Moomin, I suspect he will split on his old pal Baines, despite the zoo and the ginger pop!

...I suppose I am hiding quite a big secret about my identity - mind you, there are a lot of strange characters doing the music halls...

MoominMymbleandMy · 27/04/2010 11:37

Morning, all! Well done, Treacle, I am The Fallen Idol of The Basement Room, depending on which title you prefer. Have some ginger pop and a ticket to the zoo.

Now, might you be a male impersonator with Sapphic tastes?

NIMCP on everyone else's.
