AIBU Books Game Part Six

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 19:16

Now, we're on thread number six!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to think I'm seeing a ghost?

aah tortoise, forgot that mumsnet was global?

did you have your secrets published when you were 13 and 3/4?

llandb · 04/04/2010 10:22

Hello everyone! Petri-dish-land here. Guess same goes for the rest of you. 'Ceptin' those who are seasonally-busy

Pogleswood · 04/04/2010 15:02

Not you as well,llandb!
Touchwood and all fingers and toes crossed we seem to be germ free at last...
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

llandb · 04/04/2010 23:16

Well, I was feeling left out and wanted to join in the fun

CJCregg · 05/04/2010 11:44

llandb, did you have too many lettuces?

Think I'm about to join the lurgy-ridden ... but before I disappear, AIBU to wish my cousin didn't have to live with us?

llandb · 05/04/2010 12:15

Yes, CJ, and I caught such a terrible cold through loitering naked in Mr McGregor's shed!

Is your cousin bossy?

MCP and chamomile to you.

CJCregg · 05/04/2010 12:49

No, she's far from bossy. But she can be stubborn and rude - very ungrateful, I think, considering what we've done for her.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 06/04/2010 15:06

Ooh, has she recently turned down an advantageous match, CJ?

llandb · 06/04/2010 15:23

Or will she be packed off to an orphanage?

CJCregg · 06/04/2010 21:23

Not an orphanage, but possibly boarding school! She's really pissed my mum off this time ...

Pogleswood · 08/04/2010 09:06

Is she particularly talented,CJ? Are you particularly talented??

Is anything else on the go at the moment?

llandb · 08/04/2010 22:53

But hello all!

CJCregg · 10/04/2010 21:24

Hi all! Thread has gone rather quiet ...

No, not talented, just a sponging relative. Don't think she'll amount to much, though she's got some guts standing up to my mum, I'll give her that. Sooner she's packed off to school the better, frankly.

Pogleswood · 11/04/2010 09:44

Yes,are we all running out of steam?

We've been doing this for nearly a year haven't we - it's amazing there are any books left!

Your cousin sounds familiar but not yet identifiable,CJ...

AIBU to think that people like that should be safe in a nice Old Folks Home, and not wandering the streets?

CJCregg · 11/04/2010 22:43

Ah, but you see I see time spent on AIBU Books as time well spent compared to other fripperies (and other threads!) ... but it is getting harder to think of new ones.

Which is why you do all know this one, it's really easy

Come on, girls - don't give up on us yet ...

Pogleswood · 11/04/2010 23:38

Well,it's certainly been educational...in some ways...

So,either yours is a classic novel which I should recognise but don't because I read trashy fantasy for pleasure, and it is too long since I was forced to read the classics,or it is a repeat of a cousin I didn't get first time round - or possibly both...

...I know the elderly have many interesting stories to tell - but there is a time and place for that sort of thing,surely??...

MoominMymbleandMy · 12/04/2010 04:19

Morning, all!

I'm so sorry I did it again. Started an AIBU and promptly disappeared. But my lurgey-riddens seem to be on the mend and the boring RL jobs are either done or can be safely neglected.

I have no idea what any of you are on about unless CJ's cousin is kicking up about the vulgarity of the Little Wonders, so MCP!

And we must certainly stagger on because we've nearly made it to AIBU Books' first birthday!

...Anyway, so I was explaining why I thought we ought to move house. It isn't haunted and we don't have any children but we do have rather a lot of pets...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 12/04/2010 07:09

Hey,Moomin Good to see you back! Glad things are looking up in Moomin Valley!

...to be accosted on one's way to a social event is really not on...

NIMCP!

CJCregg · 12/04/2010 11:23

Pogle, are these people giving dire warnings? Or throwing temptation in your way?

This dratted cousin is really getting on my nerves. My dad used to stick up for her a bit but now he's dead Mum can start teaching her a lesson.

Hey Moomin! Hope all's well, glad to hear the lurgy is retreating.

MoominMymbleandMy · 12/04/2010 11:53

Ooh, Pogle, might this old buffer be rambling on with a very far-fetched tale about a big bird and a big boat? You are being a bit U because being cornered by long-winded bores is part and parcel of being a wedding guest.

Drat, wrong cousin, CJ (and a waste of good AIBU material too). It's niggling familiar as well, which means I shall never get it.

...So we think it's time we moved out of London and found a big place in the country. But it's so hard to find suitable properties...

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 12/04/2010 12:17

Hmm, is your cousin being packed off to an institution for charity children, CJ? If so, she's a surprisingly tough little thing so I wouldn't rely on an outbreak of disease polishing her off.

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 12/04/2010 17:09

Afternoon, all! Happy Monday!

Moomin, are you doggy people? Maybe you should try house-hunting in Sussex?

Um... I can't even remember if I was in the middle of an AIBU now, will just swim around until I get to grips with what you're all going on about...

Pogleswood · 12/04/2010 19:00

How right you are,Moomin - a lot of deranged waffle about albatrosses and slimy things on the sea - not at all what I had planned for my day!

MoominMymbleandMy · 12/04/2010 19:21

Ah well, at least he isn't pawing the bridesmaids, Pogle. Try offering him any drop to drink to get rid of him!

...And yes, we are doggy people, Treacle, but I'm afraid we've had no luck house hunting in Sussex...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 12/04/2010 20:07

Moomin, how annoying but I think you're right - I thought she was tough after the Red Room incident, but it seems she did survive the epidemic, although I don't think she's coming back anyway, so that's all right I suppose! Blasted hangers-on ...

A bit confused, but are you living in a charming little house on the Outer Circle at the moment?
