AIBU Books Game Part Six

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 19:16

Now, we're on thread number six!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to think I'm seeing a ghost?

Polly, are you quite sure gluing JT to the PC was a good idea? Because it sounds as though he's using it to further his plans for worldwide rodent domination!

Treacle, is the object of your affection a mousy governess?

Pogle, did you have an unfortunate encounter with a cake? Commiserations to DD and all other fragile DCs, btw.

MCP all!

...You wouldn't think anyone could be shocked by Swan Lake, but if my family get to hear of it they'll haul me back to Cambridge somehow...

Dashing in and out, wish I had more time to ponder some of these clues.

I definitely had my sights set on someone more dashing when I was younger - or even more royal ...

steamedtreaclesponge · 24/02/2010 17:41

Are you in a fairy tale, CJ?

MCP everyone else!

...No, she's not mousy - rather the opposite, in fact! She seems to have a new man on the scene now who I don't really approve of, I hope I haven't left it too late...

Pogleswood · 24/02/2010 17:48

Well, what a lot of interesting options open to me... None of the above(though the cave sound extremely tempting,Treacle!)

..asking me to make decisions - as if life wasn't difficult enough already...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 24/02/2010 17:58

All sounding very exciting, perhaps just a couple more clues?

...well, I did it. Stole the stuff and no-one saw me. Let's hope that's the end of that...

steamedtreaclesponge · 24/02/2010 18:08

Elephants, were you perhaps stealing from your neighbour's garden? If so, I think you might find yourself in trouble before long...

MCP everyone else!

...I'm not sure what to make of her new man, tthere aren't many like him round here...

pollywollydoodle · 24/02/2010 18:46

moomin, i knew i knew it,...you're harriet aren't you

CJCregg · 24/02/2010 23:35

c-ratties, perhaps?

Who is Harriet?

No, I'm not in a fairy tale. But I always had dreams of a fairy tale wedding (and so did my mother!)

MoominMymbleandMy · 25/02/2010 03:13

Well done, Polly! Some celebratory pirouettes are called for and have a tiny tutu for JT! It was A Company of Swans, CJ, another by Eva Ibbotson.

Are you pinching lettuces for your wife, Elephants? If so, it's most U and will lead to tears.

Not even the glimmer of a guess on anyone else's. MCP!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 25/02/2010 10:46

treacle, is her new man an alien? I have no idea what anyone is talking about, just a wild, random question ...

Pogleswood · 25/02/2010 10:58

Still stuck here - MCP!

...first it was questions about laundry..

steamedtreaclesponge · 25/02/2010 12:05

MCP everyone!

....not an alien, CJ, but there's definitely something a bit different about him. Mind you, I've got rather a deep, dark secret myself that I'm trying to keep hidden...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 25/02/2010 14:50

Oooh, an Eva Ibbotson that I haven't read yet. Sounds great.

And Treacle and Moomin - congratulations! I knew my luck would run out in the end, witches just don't take kindly to people stealing their veg it seems

Pogleswood · 25/02/2010 19:34

MCP,MCP... (is it wise to give JT a tutu??)

..then it was a question about jam...couldn't she see I was lying in the field having a weep??...

pollywollydoodle · 25/02/2010 20:28

i got one...yee-ha!

what was yours elephant?

mcp

MoominMymbleandMy · 25/02/2010 22:19

Ah, Pogle, this is what comes of having long lost relations to stay. You might have expected she'd turn the farm upside down with her fancy, city-fied ways!

Polly, it's just dawned on me that you read something with a happy ending! JT, for all his unsavoury habits, must be a benign influence. How could you have the heart to put him in synthetic knickers?

Treacle, CJ, NIMCP!

AWBU to look for a radio signal?

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 26/02/2010 00:34

...anyone may do anything they please,as long as I am left alone with my sorrow...

Night all!

llandb · 26/02/2010 01:30

to all of ye

Will I find out who JT is and what it is with you lot and rodents, if I go back and read the thread? Or do I have to plead for someone to take pity and explain?

Can't think of any books.... much catching up to do - and no idea about any of yours!

steamedtreaclesponge · 26/02/2010 08:28

MCP CJ!

Moomin, are you stranded on an island?

Elephants - wot, no prize for guessing correctly?

...Mind you, the girl I'm after isn't exactly normal herself - it must be hard to have relationships when you know what everyone thinks about you...

steamedtreaclesponge · 26/02/2010 08:31

Oh, and welcome back llandb!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 26/02/2010 10:54

Oh well done Pogle - that was a brilliant one. One of my favourite books and I could only think of Eeyore

So sorry, two portions of delicious rapunzel salad (lettuce not girl) dressed with miraculous healing tears, coming right up for Treacle and Moomin.

JT is a "love" rat llandb, now with sex-inhibiting polyester trousers Can't really explain more than that!

More clues everyone, pretty sure I am ignorant but carry on...

Pogleswood · 26/02/2010 11:19

Thanks,Elephants - I find Cold Comfort very quotable - "I am a used gourd, and a rind" was popular in Pogleswood for a while!

Welcome back, llandb! I'd just try to ignore the whole rodent thing,if I were you....and try not to think about the polyester trousers...

MCP! I've now got Treacle's and CJ's clues muddled again - perhaps you could post in different colours or something??

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 26/02/2010 11:26

Yeah, my family favour: "Do you want to break your mother's heart?" "Yeeeeeees"

And what you keep by the side of the sink is the "clettering stick".

Erm, don't suppose you've fallen for an amphibian, CJ? [desperate]

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 26/02/2010 11:47

AIBU to want my famly to trust me?

Pogleswood · 26/02/2010 11:52

So Treacle,if this girl isn't mousy,is she perhaps a bit of a fast piece?

Must go and do chores - back later!
