It always has
Knives, forks, spoons..... always

AI therefore BU to be irritated beyond belief that when DH unloads the sodding dishwasher that he cannot get it right? He always puts them in random places in our cutlery tray, but never knives, forks, spoons

I suspect he does it like this so that I stop asking him to do it, but we have been together for 15 years!

Knives, forks, spoons or AIBU?!!

I'm trying to remember if you're ONE OF US, ONE OF US (KNIVES, FORKS, SPOONS) or ONE OF THEM (weirdy cutlerywrongs)

MiladyDeWinter · 05/02/2010 20:13

I was wondering, RBOTP, how you feel about mismatched cutlery sharing the one tray.

We have had several sets over the years as people do, but we seem to have ended up with three distinct types according to preference.

DD likes the recently-bought plastic handled KFS. DH favours the silver we got for our wedding, but I can't quite bring myself to get rid of the last remaining wooden-handled KFS which I grew up using in the 70's. They are strangely comforting and haven't killed me (yet) even though I suspect that they were a wedding gift to my parents therefore circa 1961

WhoIsAsking · 05/02/2010 20:28

MDW

I realise that this question is not directed at me... but I must tell you that I can only spread my butter with the butter knife ("bone" which has perished somewhat in the dishwasher and is therefore NOT BONE but some kind of bakelite/plastic hybrid) which does not correlate in any way with the rest of our cutlery.

The type of cutlery IMHO is not important. It's the order which counts.

KFS

JohnnyTwoHats · 05/02/2010 20:38

KFS.

BarkisIsWilling · 05/02/2010 20:46

Where do you put your takeaway menus?

RockbirdandHerSpork · 05/02/2010 20:48

Bloody hell, who let her out of her cell?

SFK

I had a lovely look in my cutlery drawer yesterday evening, just out of curiosity, to see what there is in the long bit down the right-hand-side...

i've got 2 bottle openers (of the old fashioned kind, one is a BASS one), 3 whisks of various size (inc a tiny teeny one for whisking hot chocolate), sharp knives, 3 fish slices, serving spoons, butter knives, cheese knives, wooden spoons, spatualas, leggy cork screw, 2 sets of measuring spoons, scissors, a curly straw,

and i have very few matching SFKs...

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/02/2010 14:26

aaaaarrrrgggghhhh

BarkisIsWilling · 07/02/2010 14:37

I don't put mine on the fridge. They share a drawer with the clothespegs, batteries and useful bits of string.

The fridge door is for school/library info and souvenir magnets. Obviously.

WhoIsAsking · 07/02/2010 18:29

BarkisIsWilling - I utterly love your name.

KNIVES
FORKS
SPOONS

Takeaway menu's live in a special box with a fairy on the lid.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/02/2010 20:03

found this to help rockbird

here

If we had unification of cutlery maybe, just maybe life would be easier. If we only had splayds we got open the drawer and lob them in.

Until then
Knives, Forks, Spoons
Knives, Forks, Spoons
Knives, Forks, Spoons
Knives, Forks, Spoons
Knives, Forks, Spoons
Knives, Forks, Spoons

OP posts:
RockbirdandHerSpork · 08/02/2010 15:43

I think we're getting hybrid offspring of the hybrids What happens when a spife and a knork get jiggy?

Jackstini · 08/02/2010 16:15

Our cutlery tray has little pictures of utensils carved on it (which does actually meant it is usually put back correctly)
Anyway, after checking, it is ordered.......
'knives, forks, spoons'!
So you must be correct RBOTP

RockbirdandHerSpork · 08/02/2010 16:26

Nooooooooooooooo, don't tell her that for goodness sakes! She's already lording it around with this KFS nonsense.

Turn your tray upside down and all will be well

BelleDameSansMerci · 08/02/2010 16:30

Knives, forks, spoons and teaspoons in the little horizontal bit underneath...

How can it be any other way?

RockbirdandHerSpork · 08/02/2010 16:31

Very easily and has been in the Rockbird household for many a year. I don't know how you lot cope.

KnottyLocks · 08/02/2010 17:26

Am getting me one of these. Because I'm worth it.

KnottyLocks · 08/02/2010 17:27
