DuelingFanjo · 08/11/2009 01:27

my sister recons this works. I want a baby and have tried for 2 years. If I really focus on wanting one, think about it, write it down... will I get one?

I suspect not

mrscrocoduck · 08/11/2009 08:06

YANBU, YAB idiotic.

And, incidentally, giving women a bad name.

MitchyInge · 08/11/2009 08:29

what? how am I giving women a bad name? this is not a thread about getting husband's permission to do/buy something, or about girlie inability to put a shelf up or park/drive a vehicle

symbols? really? I already have things scrawled on my hand most days 'drop off packed lunch' usually

maybe I should read a book about it, but my simple approach is working very well - I won 580p in the euromillions draw on Friday

I think abra1d has it right, resetting the subconscious and all that - I often come across diaries from a few years ago in which I outline various ambitions and goals and it's thrilling very pleasing to tick most of them off

what is symbol for tiger? a paw print?

might wait and see how I get on without the symbol for a little while - still want to know how I give women a bad name though

You are managing, with dramatic ease, to propagate the idea that women's heads are filled with irrational crap. Well done.

mrscrocoduck · 08/11/2009 09:32

Maybe you OUGHT to get your husband's help to steer you through what must seem to you to be a confusing world.

you are quite unkind, do you mean to be?

it may be a confusing world but am managing ok without a husband, thanks

mrscrocoduck · 08/11/2009 09:41

Shame that you see someone unwilling to indulge infantile desires for magic as being unkind. Time to grow up and affect the change you want yourself.

MitchyInge · 08/11/2009 09:45

I'd hate to grow up if it meant the end of magic, or taking myself too seriously.

There is real wonder in the world if you open your eyes to it.

Cosmic ordering? You think that the 'universe' is a big holding warehouse full of your subconscious desires?

Infantile.

MitchyInge · 08/11/2009 10:07

well, infantile or not it seems to be working very well - there probably is some sort of rational explanation for it all, although I think the amount of work I have at the moment is nothing short of miraculous given that we are supposed to be in a recession and am not in a particularly recession-proof industry

OP posts:
Surfermum · 08/11/2009 10:12

That's exactly it though mrscrocoduck - making the changes you want in your life yourself. For me it's less about ordering material things and more about how I view life, and feel about myself and others.

You may see it as infantile, I don't. That's fine - I'd have probably thought the same a few years ago. And I know plenty of men who are into it as well.

MegSophandEmma · 08/11/2009 10:15

When I was little I "ordered" a letter from Joseph Mazzello (the lad out of Jurrasic Park). For months I had been writing letters to Amblin Studios, Steven Speilberg and any other address I could get hold of, asking for him to get intouch. December '93 one night before I went to bed I asked for a letter the next day from this boy and low and behold, I came home from school that afternoon and there sat on the unit was a letter, with a signed photo waiting for me. Whoo hooo.. Anyway a few months later In March 1994 I did the same thing. My brother came in my room to wake me up, we heard the post drop through the letterbox. I asked my brother to go and get my letter. Which he did (bossy older sister) and up he came with another letter from Jo Mazzello.

Tried it loads since being an adult and it doesn't work very well any more. I have made a vision board, split into four areas of my life. Within each section I have made a collage all I want to happen in those areas of my life. Nothing much has happened yet. So maybe it is a loada ol tosh. We'll see.

MegSophandEmma · 08/11/2009 10:18

Bloody nora. That post is shocking, to say i'm currently on an English Degree. Ahh Bollocks to it, my head is sore.
