to think that cosmic ordering

. . . works amazingly well?

MitchyInge · 05/11/2009 16:54

oh that's the one I saw, the secret

I didn't pay though, in fact I got paid to watch it in a way (was house-sitting)

as I watched it I suspended all my critical faculties (not that am exactly cursed with much in that department) and thought 'wow, this is what I do all the time' but it sort of gave me the shove to start asking for things I didn't think were possible without enormous effort - like lots of extra £££

For many women positive thinking and denial are one and the same.

My friend has wasted years of her life on relationships that were clearly going nowhere but becuase she has a 'positive thinking' mantra she never let herself see it for what it was until reality finally forced itself on the situation.

Any attempt to broach issues regarding the possible non-idealness of her partners in convo with her would be 'yes but I'm looking on the positive side, I'm trying to be positive, I believe in positive thinking' etc etc.

ie, hands over ears and LA LA LA.

fraggletits · 05/11/2009 16:58

mitchy my friend said it really worked for her too, so I'm not doubting it - DH was saying 'scam scam scam' when she was telling us about it, and if I didn't have to pay the £20 I'd probably watch it.

She's also come into unexpected money since getting into all - really spooky!

MitchyInge · 05/11/2009 16:59

I know what you mean

that is not my idea of positive thinking though, I like the sort of positive thinking that leads to positive action and a positive outcome

before you can do any of that you have to admit how bad things are, not just try and will them away magically

But the opposite of that morris is, I suppose negative thinking. And that at times can be corrosive and pointless. Some things in life can't be changed, and some indeed, don't need changing. I am prone to depression and when I am really down everything seems as bleak as possible. When it isn't. There is a place for saying 'this is what I am, this is where I am, embrace it'.

seaglass · 06/11/2009 12:01

So, can I wish to be thin with no effort made on my part? - or do you think that would backfire and I'd end up with worms?

mychildrenarebarmy · 06/11/2009 12:46

Well I haven't spent any money to find out about it. I got a book out of the library after my cousin told me about her interest in it.

MitchyInge · 06/11/2009 13:42

I cosmically ordered a Wonderful Day today because I felt like death a bit grot this morning, so far so good, the universe even provided time to pop home and tidy up laze around on here for a minute!

I use the parking angel to find me spaces, and the shopping angel to help me find outfits or presents for people.

I cosmically ordered a car. I was driving a BMW which is huge and real gas guzzler, and I asked for a small, economical car which would be cheaper for tax etc. Two or 3 weeks later FIL changed his car and GAVE me his little Micra.

I seem to be able to order all sorts of things and then find them in charity shops. Last year I fell in love with an Animal jacket which was £60. I cosmically ordered one much cheaper thinking I'd find one in a charity shop - but then found one on Ebay and got it for £15.

Miggsie · 06/11/2009 13:55

Have you not heard that it is better to give than to receive?

thumbwitch · 06/11/2009 13:57

I tried it one New Year - it worked pretty well and I ended up with DH! As well as several clients I hadn't seen for months, even years, returning to the fold.

Didn't get the Audi TT though, although that could easily be my own fault as I had some kind of competition card come through the post to win one and I didn't phone the number (I didn't believe strongly enough that it would work!)

MitchyInge · 06/11/2009 13:57

have got a bigger pot to give out of now miggsie

What DOES (very often)work for me is writing down what I want in a special notebook in my best fountain pen. I write my affirmations in the present tense, each sentence ten times over at least.

There's no hocus-pocus or woo. It just resets my subconscious so I work towards my goals with less anxiety and time-wasting. Usually they're mundane: this much money, this kind of life with the family.

Making a ritual of it gives me a kind of permission to take myself seriously rather than just concentrating on the family and cleaning this house.

thumbwitch · 06/11/2009 13:59

I also love the parking fairy - she is brill!
My osteopath thought I was nuts for thinking it worked but even he came round to the idea when I managed to get parked outside the clinic most weeks (parking there is very difficult)

Morloth · 06/11/2009 14:00

Cosmic ordering may work, but I have an Amazon Prime account and they guarantee next day delivery.

BertieBotts · 06/11/2009 14:04

I used to do this when I was about 10 - I cosmically ordered the school hamster to come home with me for the holiday and I was the first one picked at random. We tamed it - it wouldn't let anyone handle it before then I can't remember what else but I found it worked for lots of things. Then got a bit scared when I was thinking to myself one night how worried I was that our cat caught so many birds and mice and I was worried there would be none left and they were really cute so could she stop catching quite so many please? A few months later she was hit by a car I was gutted and believed it was my fault for ages.

Then my mum started doing the cosmic ordering years later and I sometimes do it and it does work but I'm cautious about my wording now! They say you shouldn't think "I want X" because the universe will keep you wanting it. You should just think "I order X"/"X is coming to me" and then accept that it will come to you and not keep thinking about ordering it again - you wouldn't order a sofa and then phone DFS every day saying "My sofa that I ordered, it is coming soon, yes?" even though you might be excited about it coming.

Surfermum · 06/11/2009 14:14

I think you need a balance of giving and receiving. We are only talking about the receiving part here so it possibly comes across as being greedy or wanting something for nothing. But to balance it out I "give" to lots of others in many ways.

MitchyInge · 06/11/2009 14:18

that is the best thing about cosmic ordering though, the feeling of abundance that lets you say 'would you like all these new rugs that don't fit my horse properly?' and save someone hundreds of £££ and feel happy that they've gone to a good home and just know that when/if you need something the universe will provide

MY TIGER IS NOT HERE YET

OP posts:
OrmIrian · 06/11/2009 17:05

ha! Does that mean it doesn't work then mitchy? Or perhaps you'll find a cheap tigerskin run in a junk shop tomorrow

InMyLittleHead · 06/11/2009 17:20

I cosmically order Alan Rickman

[waits]

MitchyInge · 06/11/2009 17:21
