Strange behaviour from DH

DH has always liked horses. His mother and his aunt had a riding stable. At great expense, he keeps two horses and rides every evening and most weekends. The garage is full of tack and muddy boots. On our honeymoon, four years ago, we went to a dude ranch in Wyoming. We have pictures of horses all over the house.

The trouble is that he now wants to bring a bridle and a riding crop into bed.

AIBU to have had quite enough of horses?

You'll have a great time, M. I know you will

Sickofhorses ... you need to have a discussion with your dh .. a point to point discussion.

NorthernLurker · 20/11/2008 23:32

SOH - I apologise - now let me harness all my wits and see if we can straddle the gulf between you. Vent away - think of this thread as a stirrup on the way to a saddle of marital joy.

Gillyan · 20/11/2008 23:32

OMG you poor woman - I cannot stop laughing at someones suggestion of a horse outfit, that would be sooo funny, I think you should refuse to talk to him any more and only neeyyy! I'm only kidding but god that does sound like a lot of horsey stuff to be putting up with so i don't think YABU

Desiderata · 20/11/2008 23:33

Drink some red rum, or coffee with shergar.

Relax. Take it at your own pace.

Desiderata · 20/11/2008 23:34

'Cos this sort of an obsession is all a bit of an old chestnut.

Flynnie · 20/11/2008 23:34

Or the horse whisperer, but he may already have that

Sickofhorses · 20/11/2008 23:35

God don't mention Red Rum. Do you know we have a copy of his signed autobiography? It's one of DH's most treasured possessions.

OP posts:
NorthernLurker · 20/11/2008 23:35

I think Desiderata could be right. Might you be racing to conclusions?

Flynnie · 20/11/2008 23:37

Red rum wrote his own autobiography?
Wow that was one hell of a horse.

wehaveallbeenthere · 20/11/2008 23:38

It sounds like your husband has a healthy love of horses. If it goes too far though (beyond the bridle and whip in the bedroom) to him having his horses stuffed (like Roy Rogers had his horse Trigger) then I would seek professional help.

Sickofhorses · 20/11/2008 23:38

The signature bit is funny. Gigantic hoofprint on the first page. Ridiculous.

OP posts:
Desiderata · 20/11/2008 23:38

I mean, generally speaking, aintree very nice to you at all other times?

giraffescantdancethetango · 20/11/2008 23:39

ouch my sides hurt

wehaveallbeenthere · 20/11/2008 23:41

Does your husband sleep standing up? Does he count with his foot? (hoof) Does he prefer hay over a salad? More importantly...does he put his whole face in a bucket when he is thirsty? lol Sorry, he probably just wants to add something other than photos to the bedroom decor.

Mhamai · 20/11/2008 23:41

Ha! if SOH's dh has his way there will be a lot more than sides hurting. Mark my words.

Mhamai · 20/11/2008 23:43

Try not to be a nag about it all.

Desiderata · 20/11/2008 23:43

I once knew a lady called Ms Beechers who had the same problem with her man. She would brook no argument.

Eventually she took him to court on breach of promise. She told the judge he mustang.

Mhamai · 20/11/2008 23:44

I have Shergar btw.

Mhamai · 20/11/2008 23:44

fnar

Sickofhorses · 20/11/2008 23:44

Wehaveallbeenthere - what a reassuring name. Have you been there too?

No, he doesn't want to be a horse. The problem is that I think he'd like me to be a horse. He wants me to wear the bridle ...

OP posts:
Mhamai · 20/11/2008 23:45

At desi obviously, not at myself, that would be just neigh on bonkers.

wehaveallbeenthere · 20/11/2008 23:45

I wouldn't worry unless he brings in a branding iron and mentions trying something new. Perhaps you could learn to use a lasso?

Flynnie · 20/11/2008 23:46

Tell him wild horses couldn't make you.

Mhamai · 20/11/2008 23:46

Have you thought of signing him up for panto?
You could be a double act?

GrimmaTheNome · 20/11/2008 23:46

Haven't read all the thread so apologies if this has been suggested already... if you are really sick of it, get him dvd of the Godfather for xmas.
