Just seen a weather report where everyone is super excited about well above average temps.

Our local area water pressure has recently been turned down as a direct result of the drought.

Anyone else just so done with all this?

My kingdom for a cool night where I can sleep properly again!

20 degrees is neither boiling nor unusual for late summer/early Autumn.

I think I’m going to have to put my bedside fan back out tonight. Jokes man

It is unusually high for my area. It's 23 here this afternoon. Average is about 17 for late September.

That doesn't show 23 as being abnormally high, though. Higher than average, sure, but not unheard of.

Exactly. The bizarre whingeing about the warm-ish pleasant weather we're having is batshit. It's not 35C, it's only been in the low 20s. It's late September, it's not that uncommon to have pleasant weather/an extended summer in the UK this time of year...

And once you get to around 5pm it goes chilly. (And also chilly in the morning...) Honestly, I think some people just like to moan. You just know that the same people will be moaning about how utterly freeeeezing it is when November hits and it drops to 10 degrees Celcius in the day! They will be starting the 'have you put your heating on yet?' threads, and complaining about the cold! 😬

I walked into work this morning very briskly indeed in a t shirt and a Sweatshirt on top. It was 18° and by the time I got to work I was boiling. Doesn’t mean it was boiling. I was boiling though.

Some people are never happy. It’s mild lovely weather. I’m overheat pretty quickly but unless you have any underlying illness you’re not going to die at 20 degrees

This is the best it’s going to be so enjoy it. Due to the human made climate emergency it’s going to continue to be less predictable and generally warmer, wilder and wetter. We were warned. We didn’t listen. We are reaping what we have sown. There will be times when we get the weather we are used to but mostly the trend is towards horrific - water and food shortages, more climate related illness and mortality.

We could still minimise it but we are not acting fast enough. Scientists have been warning us for decades.

MN loves a good moan about the weather.

Every year there are threads moaning it's too cold, that people don't heat their homes enough, that people heat their homes too much, that it's too hot, that it's too humid, that it's too wet, that it's too windy...

I'm not "never happy". I will be enjoying the days when it's between 10 and -6.

Sounds like there’s a real north south divide here. Where I am (East), the night temps are barely any different from day temps.

I do understand the sort ‘be grateful it’s nice’ comments. For me, it’s the fact the above-average heat has been going on without a break since May. I feel like I’m going mad.

There’s also the fact I ‘run hot’ generlly, and now even more so given the change.

It would appear the most people ‘run cold’ hence the fact some are talking about having the heating on when temps fall to low 20s (indeed, a hotel I stayed at for work recently had the heating on full blast when it was 25 deg and I thought I was going to die).

How is any different from people saying they’re only happy when it’s 28 degrees? Do they also have no consideration for those who work outside, or in kitchens, or the elderly who struggle with the heat?

Honestly I’m always hot but it’s mild in London at the moment. I always sleep with a fan on and it’s fine. Do you live in an oven or something?

It’s no different. Extreme weather is a pita. This summer’s heatwave pretty much confined my elderly mom to her home (though I don’t think 28° is as extreme as -6)

In the north west and got my quilted coat back out again…it’s cold at night. Got the electric blanket back on the bed too…. But it was ok not wearing a coat to work.

Yeah, last night was the first properly cold night and it's fresh again this morning but it's warming up again later.

So why pick on the PP who said they enjoy cooler weather?

Just because someone prefers it when it’s cold, doesn’t mean they’re hoping loads of other people suffer!
