Strong words but is is how I feel at this point in time. All of them make me feel physically sick. The latest example -

<50% of people are net contributors to the UK budget, which isn't necessarily a problem as in a fair and just society the richest individuals and corporations should be supporting the poorest.

But they don't, so we pay for public services (etc) by borrowing money to make up the difference - in 2024/2025 it was around £150 billion.

Yep. The MP’s were acting on behalf of their constituents and it wasn’t the fact that they wanted to cut the benefits it was the way in which they were proposing doing so. The latest consultation has found PIP to be unfit for purpose and in need of full reform. I think that’s preferable to tinkering around the edges every few years - trying to make it harder for potential chancers also makes it harder for genuinely disabled people to qualify so we just end up going round in circles.

The thing about right to buy, well the thing about any form of selling really, is that if you sell things, you need to make some more. Not just sell them and deny all the test of the target market from being able to buy or rent.

Plus Labour bringing in Tax Credits, so full time workers could go part time, but get topped up to a full time wage by the government. The beginning of the slide into low productivity.

I think the unhappiness is coming from people worried about any changes that will happen. I don’t think that’s surprising but £46bn a year is a lot.
