My country has such a system. People who absolutely can't work are supported. The crucial difference is that it's tiered: if you lose your job, you get up to 75% of your last salary for a period linked to how long you were in that job. It avoids the cliff edge into poverty and makes it easier to find a new job. After the grace period is over, you get less (but still more than in the UK).

Important to point out though that the 25% figure represents those in the UK who consider themselves disabled. It does not represent the number of those claiming working age disability benefits - which is just under 11%.

Name an ideal society? Everywhere is struggling with inflation, access to affordable health services, kids with anxiety and distress.
