I go back and forth on what I believe regarding benefits. Because if someone has cancer, they need taxpayer money to survive.

But one thing I do believe is that non citizens aren't entitled to tax payer money and definitely we need to stop the boats.

Agree. The first thing any recent Tory government has done is to home in on disability benefits and try to reduce them with no care whatsoever for the people who rely on them. They’ve fudged figures and blurred lines between out of work and disability benefits to gain support from the public. And then people wonder why disabled people don’t vote Tory. Although the dogs’ dinner Starmer’s government made of the proposed ill though through cuts wasn’t exactly a vote winner.

I am a non citizen and a taxpayer. So much for the British value of fairness. Having a contribution based benefits system would help. You pay in, you get out, as long as you are legally resident.

How is this different from people who earn over £100k but who stash loads into their pensions so that they are still eligible for free childcare? Is it OK when the high earners do it but not when someone on less than £40k does it?
