Both me and her partner have birthday just 3 days apart from halloween he has on oktober and i have on novemeber. To say it out, i always host my bday parties on halloween or same week halloween is because the pubs and nightclubs always throws fun halloween events and i LOVE halloween most friends know i make my birthday parties every weekend halloween is’ close to as my birthday party. I haven’t made any pre party event at my house yet but all me and my partner’s group friend knows about my upcoming halloween birthday party because they all besides from this friend and her partner came to my boyfriends birthday party this september.

And my friend is throwing him a suprise birthday party and told me in message to keep that day off, i cant totally blame her bcs she didnt know yet by my upcoming birthday party on 31 october aswell.. it seems as she consider me and my boyfriend to be closer friends with him than we really are in reality.. we barely see them after they had their kiddo of 2 years, and im her friend. so i feel like we have fallen out a bit of the friendship, after i told her that i also was making my birthday party on October 31 she got kinda mad because she tought i was just saying it right now as it wasn’t planned in my head 4 months ago.. i did tell her sorry bout it but she didn’t responded, but i wasn’t gonna cancel my own bday party for her partners suprise party either, since i wanna have my people to celebrate with me..

english not my first language so plz be nice :)

I really don’t understand the problem. Op likes to celebrate her birthday on Halloween, fine no problem, she’s already mentioned it to some friends but crucially not the surprise party friends. Surprise party friends have invited op to aforementioned party which is on the same day, the only cross over guests are these people and the other invitees do not cross over. Op two choices - either continue with you plans and skip the party knowing the friends won’t make yours or change the date of your birthday bash. It really isn’t a big deal.

you don’t own a date op, they shouldn’t have to organise his birthday around what you usually do, what comes across in your posts is just that, they should have guessed you would have a birthday bash that day.

How old are you 15?
Why are you getting so offended by it all. You have a party every year...your friend is throwing ONE surprise party for her partner..She probably won't be doing again.
You need to think about what a great surprise it will be for him...and not how it upsets your annual party

It’s her friend’s partner’s birthday at the end of October isn’t it? Not the OP’s partner

my boyfriends birthday party this september.

You need to grow up.

My daughter and her cousin have birthdays one day apart. Obviously they both pick the same closest weekend to their birthdays and it is usually the same day! We drop off his gift the day before and celebrate our daughter’s birthday. It’s just the way it is. No one has said anything to us about missing it because of course to us, hers trumps his! So I think you have done nothing wrong at all. Just give her time and hopefully she will start talking to you again.

I think people are confused because your title implies that you’re having a party on 30th Oct (because you said “Eve”) and she’s hosting a party on 31st Oct.

If you already have plans for 31st Oct, it’s fine to decline her invite.

I’m not sure why you’re posting. It doesn’t sound like you share the same friend group.

geoger · Today 09:48

Most people celebrate either on their birthday or the weekend after.
You friend does the party on the 31st you have yours the Saturday after.
Tbh I dont really understand your love of Halloween and the need to celebrate only on that day

my boyfriends birthday party this september.

Yes I know her boyfriend’s party was in September. But has she said his birthday isn’t in September? The end of October party she’s discussing in her OP is her friend’s boyfriend’s party.

@Eatally
No its on 31 october both if it was another day it be different😆

Your thread title suggests the parties are on different days. That’s what’s confusing people.

CrazyCatLady2026 · Today 10:14

Just tell her your busy that date. Stop being a drama queen.

RockinCara · Today 10:27

If you don’t have the same groups of friends then I don’t see why it’s a problem? There’s only your friend that wouldn’t be able to come to yours and only you that would be missing from his. And if you throw a party every year it’s hardly much of a loss for them to miss one.
