To ask where you would fly for a long weekend?

Saturday to Monday so truly a flying visit. Flying from the southwest.

I’m quite fancying something autumnal.

I’d go to Cornwall or something but the prices are so prohibitive that it’s probably easier to go abroad!

Ooooh also, Hamburg is a good option, if you can get flights/a centrally located hotel.

Bratislava, I stopped there on a river cruise and it's a very pretty, relatively small, city.

The Baltic states will be a bit cooler than central/southern Europe. So, if you fancy that kind of weather, I'd go north/coastal. Scandi countries would be lovely too, but pricier.

If you're flying from the SW presumably you will be flying from Newquay, Exeter or Bristol and your destination will depend on what flights are available at the times/dates you want to travel.

Good call. We did a long weekend in Bratislava one March. Very pleasant little city; a bit like a mini/less busy Prague.

Yes scandi countries are expensive but stunning.

Id fly from London if the deal was good enough!

My best pick would be Malaga.

We went in the summer and it’s a beautiful city. The old town has a small enough footprint that its completely walkable. It’s a short hop from the airport. Enough to occupy you if you so choose but you could just wander round the beautiful streets and eat and drink. Beach as well if that’s your thing. Found it very cheap to eat and drink as well.

I’m keeping my eye on flight prices to see if there’s a chance I could pop back for the weekend to cram in some last minute sunshine and eat my own body weight in tapas.

Same for Alicante, easy quick airport bus, bargainous hotels, gorgeous old town. Flights from Bristol…

We flew for one night to Copenhagen and had a great time. Two nights would be amazing!

But it's ok to drive massive SUVs everywhere? At least with flying it's not just taking one person

We do this lots! I just whack it into sky scanner- last weekend we were in limgoes , next Dublin and next month Malaga- all cheap 2 night trips with great flight times!

If you can fly to Brussels go to Ghent, short trip on the train, an absolutely great small city, so much more authentic than manicured Bruges but very similar in architecture etc. Lovely vibe along the riverfront and so much more besides.

If you plan to go krakow fly to katowice and get the train. Cheaper and horror stories of passport control on friday.
Gdansk is better for warmer weather. You can also visit beach.

I don't know anyone who's given up flying to save the planet. It's one of my greatest pleasures - flying somewhere 2 or 3 times a year - I enjoy it and will not give it up until flying is outlawed!

Florence because I really love it there and had couple of nice holidays. Krakow because I have always wanted to go .

Get the Eurostar to Brussels or Bruges.

It would totally depend on flight times but don’t forget places closer to home like Belfast and Edinburgh
