To ask where you would fly for a long weekend?

Saturday to Monday so truly a flying visit. Flying from the southwest.

Go onto skyscanner. Put in your local airport, your travel dates and in the destination box search "everywhere".

It will come up with all the possible flights, find one which has good departure times and it will help narrow down your search to a couple of destinations that seem interesting and within budget. Then pick whatever one appeals. You can't really go wrong with most city breaks, everywhere should have enough museums/tourist sights/food to keep you entertained for a few days.

I've personally never done such a quick trip, but have a look at 'Travel Man' on youtube. They've mainly gone European cities.

What do you want to see/do? Beach, museums, history, food? When are you thinking of going?

This is a strong contender but the flight times make it quite awkward unless I go from London!

Prague, Krakow, Barcelona.

Budapest is a lovely city with lots to do for a short break

Nowhere tbh! We are in a climate crisis! Flying somewhere for such a short time is ridiculous. Plenty of lovely places you can get to without flying!

I adore Budapest, it’s a nice place to just be and also sightseeing!

I should add - I’ve just come back from Milan and I’m off to Rome in November so ideally not Italy!

Really? 🙄 We have just had the hottest and driest summer on record. Huge natural disaster in Nepal with probably thousands dead. Both direct consequences of global warming! But fuck it you want a nice weekend away! There literally are no words!!!

Commercial air travel has virtually no impact on climate change. Go lecture the major corporations.

Valencia?

Krakow last year in late Sept for my 50th, was gorgeous, and still pretty warm. It's a relatively short flight, and the airport is near the city. Really super affordable, and excellent restaurants, etc.
Other option might be Riga or Tallin. Again, a short flight, and both are a short tram/bus ride from airport to city. Riga in particular had excellent restaurants - some of the best quality for the price, I have ever had. (If you decide to go, I can give you some recommendations!) Both have pretty small Old Towns, which make a weekend trip a good idea, because you're not spending a long time traipsing around.
