To say all pro-Palestinians should watch Fauda on Netflix?

FuadaFan · 09/09/2026 14:17

Now it is a drama about how the Israeli security services deal with the conflict but it is apparently pretty accurate and is amazingly well produced and acted.

Season 5, which covers Oct 7th has just come out after a long delay.

I've had to take a break after episode 7 because it's so distressing but it still doesn't even come close to what happened that day.

I think it's gives a clearer idea as to the truth of what has been going on and it does try to give a perspective from both sides.

I think every pro-Palestinian should watch it.

I genuinely don’t understand why people make posts like this.

  1. We’re on a thread about Israel and the Palestinians, so that’s who people are going to be talking about.

  2. The poster you replied to was talking about proportionality. How many people are dying in other conflicts is completely irrelevant to whether Israel’s response is proportional.

  3. The question of whether war crimes are being committed or however you want to describe the decimation of the Palestinian population by Israel is not related to the skin colours or races of the people involved. No-one else has indicated they think it relevant and frankly, it’s odd that you do.

Good post. People who make the kind of argument you’re quoting come across as completely unable to reason. It’s like they’re children.

I also believe Palestine/Israel is such an emotive and divisive subject that some people who are otherwise thoughtful lose their ability to think critically (I mean that on both sides of the debate, of course).

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 10/09/2026 15:06

I’m sorry but I don’t think anything can justify the genocide that is currently taking place.

I totally agree that what happened on 7/10/23 was horrific, and I’m very willing to believe that ordinary Israelis have been living under threat and feel this extremely deeply.

But nothing justifies the terrible slaughter of innocent civilians that is currently going on.

bluebellsofscotland · 10/09/2026 15:11

@FeeFiFoFiddlyFum No-one else has indicated they think it relevant and frankly, it’s odd that you do.
No it's odd that you seem to think that people being massacred in large numbers is irrelevant.
So who made you the spokesperson for the whole thread anyway?

Please explain to me how people in other conflicts in other countries being massacred in large numbers is relevant to whether Israel’s reaction to October 7 is proportionate?

I haven’t said anything which suggests I think I’m the spokesperson for the whole thread. I’ve spent most of the thread arguing with other posters, it’s a very controversial subject and clearly posters on this thread don’t agree with each other.

What I said was no-one else has indicated that they think the colour or race of the protagonists has anything to do with whether Isreal is committing war crimes. That’s not speaking for other people. It’s observing what I’ve read people say on the thread. Can you point out where anyone has said they think skin colour or race is relevant?

‘No Other Land’ Co-Directors on Their New Hot-Button Doc ‘NAZA’ and Interviewing 24 Israeli Soldiers in ‘Total Secrecy’: ‘There Is Still So Much Denial of What Is Happening’ in Gaza

https://variety.com/2026/film/global/no-other-land-directors-new-doc-naza-idf-soldiers-1236855894/

I thought this was pertinent :

Abraham: I think that this piece is likely to make the denial of what took place in Gaza — not only its genocidal nature, but really the specifics of what it looked like from inside the Israeli system — harder. We know there is a lot of denial happening. And to me, that denial is one factor that contributes to the crimes persisting. I mean, just this week, you had an 8-year-old girl, Wafaa Akila, who was killed in Gaza with her father. The same day, Israel bombed a school and killed a first grader. These things have been completely normalized by the international media by the mere fact that Israel has been doing them every single day for so long. And while this is still happening, there is such a big, powerful, often sophisticated, apparatus that is intended to sometimes deny and justify, but often keep things in a place where you can say: “Oh well, maybe there’s a valid reason for this.” This is a difficult thing for me to say because I think that it’s shameful that this denial is happening. I think the truth of the wars and the crimes happening in Gaza should have been clear to people from the first day by listening to Palestinians who have described them time and time again.

But it’s precisely for this reason that we live in a world where countries in Europe, and especially the United States, continue to give Israel unconditional military aid and diplomatic cover. There is still so much denial of much of what is happening that we felt we should probably use our kind of access to this system to give testimonies from inside the Israeli military system. I can’t say that I’m sure it will have an effect. I’m not. But I very much hope it will.

Are these soldiers anonymous? I mean come on, Israel isn't a police State like some countries I could mention, and soldiers have spoken out against the Government in the Knesset so I think it's odd, and suspicious, they'd remain anonymous if they have the courage of their convictions.

Anyho, finished Season 5 of this great show.

The storyline was obviously fictional but taken from real life stories and actual events, and very tame in comparison to what the Palestinians actually did.

Quite spine chilling was the portrayal of these monsters committing the atrocities they did then blending back into normal society and acting like nice, normal people. This is accurate as has happened when the IDF have identified Oct 7th participants in Gaza, and there are likely many who have escaped among the Gazans who have come to the West via Egypt to evade Israel targeting them in Gaza.

Also the liberal European woman who quickly became radicalised!

Excellent stuff and highly recommended.

Hmmm I wonder why you would be so wilfully obtuse and ignore the well documented and evidenced atrocities Hamas AND Palestinian civilians committed on Oct 7th, many filmed by themselves?

Could it because you sympathise with them and what they did? I honestly can't see any other reason why.

As such I feel dirty and disgusting even engaging with such filth but before I go and scrub myself in the shower, do you have evidence of the IDF committing ANYTHING similar to the documented atrocities of Oct 7th?

Is this to do with the 'rape dog' accusations? If they want their propaganda to be believed, they should at least try to make it, err, believable.

How were these 'sexual assaults' verified I wonder?

Do you not see any correlation with civilians being used as human sacrifices by terrorists with a 'martyr' ideology, with a Hamas leader publicly saying the blood of Palestinian children, women and elderly people was needed to “ignite” the revolutionary spirit (Ismail Haniyeh, Oct 2023, Al Jazeera), and civilian death tolls in a war started by those same terrorists?

Tying women to trees and gang raping them, cutting off their breasts while gang raping them, shooting them while gang raping them, inserting nails and poles in women's vaginas, pouring petrol on them and setting them on fire, tying familes together and setting them on fire, decapitation with garden implements, dismembering and mutilating people, gunning down young people fleeing a music festival, executing whole families in their homes and kidnapping and strangling a baby and a 3 year old with their mother, kidnapping other children and the elderly including 80+ year olds, parading the near naked, defiled, dead bodies of young women on the back of pick up trucks and motorbikes for civilians to attack, cheer and spit at.

Nope. I think I can safely say the IDF has never been documented as doing any of that.

The fact you are trying to equate a war, with one side almost totally dependent on propaganda which is why they started a war in the first place, to the pure evil which was perpetrated by Palestinians on Oct 7th says a LOT about your mindset and desperation to excuse it.

I don’t think your exceptionalism argument works.

Do you ever criticise the UK or US governments for actions which you don’t criticise other countries for? For example, (and I’m making assumptions here but insert you own if this doesn’t fit) have you ever complained about the death penalty in the US, or the shootings in the US by the police or the poor treatment of black people? Or failures of welfare provision in these countries? Or poor treatment of women?

All these things happen to a far, far greater extent in other countries. So, whilst it’s to be expected that people will legitimately criticise their own country, if you are British, for example, why do you criticise the US for the death sentence rather than say Korea? Why discuss women’s rights in America and not Chad? Why complain about welfare failures in the US but not in Costa Rica?

Accord to your logic, if you criticise the US (if you’re British) more than you criticise other countries, it’s because of prejudice and racial hatred.

Unless you’re saying your logic doesn’t work for other countries, only Israel, in which case that is exceptionalism.

The official definition of antisemitism specifically states holding Israel to a higher standard than other countries is antisemitic. Make of that what you will.

Ilovecrispytofu · 11/09/2026 06:12

Absolutely no one on this thread has denied or defended what happened on October 7th. Only tried to point that Israel has gone on to kill, maim and imprison a huge number of civilians (including children) who clearly had nothing to do with the attack. OP your ramblings and accusations cannot hide the very clear facts.

Unfortunately, Oct 7th has been somewhat dwarfed by what’s happened to civilians in Gaza since.
Im not saying Oct 7th wasn’t horrendous, just that horrendous lead to even more horrendous.

Fauda is actually very popular in Arab countries - particularly Jordan - and is seen as being very fair to both sides. Please don’t forget that over 1 million Arabs live in Israel and can vote and get an education and live their lives as they want. Try being gay in Gaza. And please don’t believe the propaganda . Even the UN has said the children there are not starving and Hamas admit that the vast majority of people who died in the war were in fact fighters - not civilians. They were offered a two state solution when Clinton was President and rejected. It. Let’s not forget the aim of Hamas . Think about the phrase ‘from the river to the sea’ and what it really means.
