To say all pro-Palestinians should watch Fauda on Netflix?

Now it is a drama about how the Israeli security services deal with the conflict but it is apparently pretty accurate and is amazingly well produced and acted.

Season 5, which covers Oct 7th has just come out after a long delay.

I've had to take a break after episode 7 because it's so distressing but it still doesn't even come close to what happened that day.

I think it's gives a clearer idea as to the truth of what has been going on and it does try to give a perspective from both sides.

I think every pro-Palestinian should watch it.

If you and @FuadaFan want some first hand accounts from soldiers then go and read from Breaking the Silence - on their website or Instagram account - there’s a lot for you to read on there.

Um, about that. A lot of the accounts in Breaking the Silence were found to be inconsistent or inaccurate.

Are you under the impression that people who are horrified by what is happening in Gaza and the West Bank don’t realise that the 7th October massacre was also utterly horrifying?

I hate this adversarial mindset.

Personally I’ve never seen a Pro-Palestinian really give a shit about October 7th, they only ever follow it up with competitive stats about Gaza, or parrot some antisemitic conspiracy theory about the “Zionists” (we know they mean Jews) doing it to themselves (which is the exact same tactic the Nazi used FYI).

Almost every pro-Pal I’ve ever met or read comments from will bang on about how they’re not antisemitic, but it takes VERY little surface scratching to uncover some antisemitic stereotype being used.

I also think they’re mutually exclusive issues. If you support Palestine being free, in real terms you support freeing terrorists and terrorist supports(of which there anre an enormous amount in Gaza, look how they celebrated 9/11) into a space where they can cause extreme harm to the ONE Jewish state in the world, the very one they have professed they will annihilate. And if you think they then won’t come for the West then I’m afraid I can only conclude you were in fact born yesterday

Therattt · Yesterday 21:12

Yes. A free Palestine would need to come with a robust programme of de- radicalisation of the population there. The vocal pro- Palestinians I come across seem to have this hazy view of an oppressed people who just want peace when that couldn't be further from the actuality. Their every 2nd word is "genocide" when there is no way any sort of genocide has taken place. Hamas have achieved their aims. It was well funded but I really didn't think so many people would fall for their propaganda. I actually still find it astonishing. Like 1930s Germany. Goebbels would be proud.

I honestly wonder if many of them even care remotely about Palestinians either to be honest. It seems to be mostly performative or an excuse for obsessive Jew hate.

Indeed.

Theres so much pain and suffering in the world and yet they only seem to be on the side of the groups that want to annihilate Jews. They pretend saying “Death to zionsists” (nothing wrong with being a Zionist, I’m one, simply the belief that Jewish people ah w the right to their own state - you know like the 55 Muslim countries and 15 Christian countries do) isn’t the same as saying “death to Jews”.

The hypocrisy is embarrassing. It’s like they’ve never heard of war before.

Funniest part is how the Palestinians are allegedly "indigenous brown" people being oppressed by evil white Israelis.

Um,... some of those Palestinian kids are whiter than the soldiers. I mean have you seen Ahed Tamani? Blond hair, blue eyes, pasty complexion..

I've also seen pro-Palestinians hysterical over the deaths of children in Gaza but at the same time insist Palestinians should not leave Gaza because it would be 'ethnic cleansing' and it's their land.

Right, better for kids to be killed in a 'genocide' by an army of 'baby killers' where terrorists hide among them and use them as human shields in a high density urban warzone, than for them to be able to flee to safety like refugees in every other war!

Has there ever been another war where non hostile countries refused to let refugees in and the international community refused to put pressure on?

6 Arab countries won't take Palestinians BTW. Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Libya basically banned them entry. They nearly started a full-scale war in Jordan in the 1970s.

I think it's unreasonable to assume people who hold a different perspective must be less educated on the topic.

My own perspective is that the events of Sept 7th were horrifying, but cannot justify genocide.

I sincerely doubt a tv show will change that perspective. I think I'm fairly well informed, but even if I was to discover that Sept 7th was even more horrific than I already think it was, I can't imagine how any reasonable person would then say genocide is justified or acceptable.

Agree. There's is literally nothing you can show me that would justify the purposeful systematic starving and murdering babies, children women and innocent civilian men by a government. It is genocide and collective punishment and exactly like October 7th it is heinous and wrong and has been going on for decades. Bibi knew 7th was coming and happily threw his people under the bus to give him the excuse to justify his war crimes

Well done for being the very person the user was talking about! So you want Gazans to live under the thumb of the brutal theocratic dictatorship that is Hamas which grooms their children to be terrorists from the cradle and uses them as human shields?

I know.

Do you think pro-Pals know that?

Why didn't Egypt do you think seeing as most Gazans originate from there?

Plenty of room in the Sinai.

I think every pro-Palestinian I’ve known at some point peddles antisemitic tropes, even if they don’t realise it. The whole Doe-eyed “Oh I’m only criticising the Israeli government” I’m afraid stopped washing with me a LONG time ago. The silence on the IRGC and many, many countries doing much much worse to much much larger non-terrorist populations makes me think it’s not an Israel problem they have, it’s a Jew problem.

That was last years propaganda.

The last page or so of posts has been enlightening. The absolute distain expressed for any posters on the thread who have criticised Israel, the insinuation of every criticism stemming from antisemitism, the “every pro-Pal says w, x and y and obviously believes z” comments when no-one on the thread has said anything like or suggested they believe anything like.

But do carry on. You obviously feel you are doing your cause good by posting like this. God alone knows why.

The Palestinians do not want to leave their home.

This is simply historical fact. Palestinians were expelled from Jordan in the 1970s. Black September. Then expelled from Kuwait in the 1990s. In 2003, several Arab countries closed their doors to Palestinian refugees.
