To say all pro-Palestinians should watch Fauda on Netflix?

Now it is a drama about how the Israeli security services deal with the conflict but it is apparently pretty accurate and is amazingly well produced and acted.

Season 5, which covers Oct 7th has just come out after a long delay.

I've had to take a break after episode 7 because it's so distressing but it still doesn't even come close to what happened that day.

I think it's gives a clearer idea as to the truth of what has been going on and it does try to give a perspective from both sides.

I think every pro-Palestinian should watch it.

The UN also believes Israel is committing genocide so it’s slight odd that you would invoke their views.

I’m sure everyone on this thread agrees that war crimes were committed by Hamas on October 7 but then most of us also believe the UN is telling the truth about Israel’s actions.

Are you considering the UN a credible organisation or not? Or only when they don’t condemn Israel’s actions?

https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2024/11/un-special-committee-finds-israels-warfare-methods-gaza-consistent-genocide

The UN is not a single entity with a uniform "belief."

The ICJ (the only UN body with the legal authority to officially declare that a state has violated the 1948 Genocide Convention) is currently hearing a formal case brought by South Africa accusing Israel of genocide.

It has so far issued orders requiring Israel to take all necessary measures to prevent acts of genocide and ensure humanitarian access. It has not yet ruled on whether genocide has actually taken place.

The actual support for the genocide claim comes from the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel, which consists of three members.

People like OP are the reason why this conflict will never end. They cant see that two things can be true at the same time. Hamas can be horrific violent terrorists while Israel can also be committing war crimes and killing kids

There are people like this on both sides of the conflict.

I do not support one side or the other, both are committing atrocities both are doing awful things and neither has the moral high ground.

Hamas is a terrorist organisation, October 7th was truly awful and a dark day for humanity, what those people did is unthinkable to most and disgusting. It deserved a response.

However I do not feel that the response it deserved was the killing of 75,000 people including over 20,000 children.

I fully support Israel in their right to self defence, self defence does not mean murdering children.

This is how you prolong a conflict.

If your child was murdered in an israeli air strike, your whole life was in rubble what would you do? A hell of a lot of people would decide fuck it lets get revenge and kill some israelis.

If you were a child and your parents were both killed would you grow up hating israel? of course you would.

We need to break the cycle of violence from both sides, show restraint and create generations who do not hate each other for murdering family.

Its a nice idea on paper, but there is evidence aplenty that Palestinian children are groomed to become "martyrs" from the cradle. They are not radicalised by circumstances, but by very deliberate indoctrination. One may say the adults are the real problem.

A further point needs to be raised: children dying in a conflict doesn't automatically mean they are being deliberately targeted. Sometimes accidental collateral damage happens. Its tragic, but its reality.

Ha why would I want to watch blatant propaganda? No thank you. It is rather odd timing, in all honesty.

How do you know it’s ‘blatant propaganda’ if you haven’t watched it?

Its "anything I don't agree with is propaganda". Confirmation bias.

Did he actually go to any of those places? You're still relying on the "appeal to authority" fallacy. A person can have all the qualifications in the world, but if they haven't acually witnessed the events they're referring to they don't have any basis to comment on them.

Yet here you are commenting about events you haven’t witnessed. As are we all. We all look at evidence which is presented and by various methods decide what we believe to be credible and what not.

Or for some people, reject or pretend to reject anything which doesn’t suit our position.

People discussing an issue on an online forum is not the same as someone speaking with authority.

REMEMBERthemALL · 14/09/2026 09:06

You missed something in your list.

There is no justification for terrorist attacks on festival goers or families living in Kibbutz or people at all.

There is no justification for taking hostages and holding them cruelty slowly releasing as they see fit.

But these same people would argue October 7th was entirely justified in the name of "resistance". Isn't that interesting?

inamarina · 14/09/2026 09:23

EnglishLady02 · 14/09/2026 08:53

Any scholar or activist can say anything, it doesn't make them credible. They rely on the title of "scholar" to carry weight.

. Which is why I am wary of the so called "genocide scholars" and emphasise only the ICC are actually qualified to determine on this mater.

I think people sometimes forget that scholars are also people with their own biases.

Much is dependent on context: did this special committee actually visit Gaza and gather evidence or is everything they said based on third hand accounts?

See that other UN report actually had credible evidence. Does this one?

Its notable: this man is starving. He's not Gazan. He's an Israeli hostage called Evtayar David.

I’m unclear what you’re saying here. Are you suggesting the UN has stated that Israel is committing genocide based on zero evidence?

EnglishLady02 · 14/09/2026 09:30

pandarific · 09/09/2026 15:51

a) There is no justification for genocide.

b) There is no justification for collective punishment.

c) There is no justification for apartheid. How can a country exist where one population has all their human rights upheld and another, no rights at all?

When Zionists talk about Palestinians somehow deserving what's happened to them for being "Hamas supporters" I always wonder whether they imagine like, surveys taking place or sth.

Also, LGBT+ activists don't give a shite whether the people they're standing up for approve of them or not, not the point - the point is to stand up for universal human rights, and to fight for people being oppressed. See: LGBT+ at the Miner's strikes in the 80s.

Edited

Actually, surveys have been conducted, and it concluded around 95% of Palestinians support Hamas. Although more recent ones suggest a decline in support.

Palestinian supporters love to use buzzwords like "Aparthied" and "collective punishment" but fail to understand the West Bank and Gaza are semi-autonomous regions whose policies are determined by their respective governments. The PA and Hamas respectively - yes Hamas are officially the governing party in Gaza.

These parties both have laws which exclude or discriminate against certain groups, notably Jews and non-Muslims, criminalise homosexuality, and legalise things like child marriage. In other words, the people who are depriving Palestinians of human rights are, by and large, other Palestinians.

He provided no evidence. Literally just said "I have seen X" without any proof. I always try to provide credible evidence to back up my position. Therein lies the difference.

and the other organisations?

I was talking about that particular one because it gets mentioned a lot on the Israel-Gaza threads, despite being previously debunked.

Its not about my approval: its the allegation Israel "created" Hamas by funding Qatar. I am highlighting your absurd double standard here. By your logic, the USA was responsible for 9/11 because the CIA trained Al-Qaeda fighters in the 1980s.

I believe countries which support terrorist organisations are partially responsible for the actions of those organisations.

Is that a controversial view?

Nothing in this article mentions any threats to revoke citizenship.

My post was about IDF soldiers, so I’m
not sure why you are talking about explosions (well, I am sure, it’s a technique you have used numerous times on this thread).

I haven't claimed they areall fake".

Yes, you specifically said that videos of videos of IDF soldiers posted by themselves are all fake

no solider is going to be that stupid as to film themselves and post it on social media

EnglishLady02 · 14/09/2026 09:06

Clarify what you mean by "the state". The government? FIne. The government and the IDF. They have conscription: every Israeli citizen over 18 is required to serve. So you are vilifying every adult Israeli.

Are you really trying to suggest that it’s unacceptable to criticise the IDF?

Or that because people are conscripted into the IDF, soldiers are not responsible for their own actions whilst in the IDF and we can’t criticise these actions?

Did you know almost everything they say in the film is based on uncorroborated anonymous accounts?

“On Sunday Israel’s culture minister, Miki Zohar, accused the directors on X of being willing to “harm their homeland in order to receive applause from antisemites around the world”.
“I will act immediately to revoke the Israeli citizenship of these despicable creators for treason against the state,” Zohar wrote on X.
Other Israeli ministers also took aim at the directors, who won an Oscar in 2025 for their film No Other Land about Israeli settler violence in the occupied West Bank.”

www.theguardian.com/film/2026/sep/14/gaza-documentary-makers-naza-israel-citizenship-ntwnfb

re corroboration:
Because the 24 separate insiders describe the exact same protocols, software, and administrative allowances for civilian death their testimonies corroborate one another regarding the institutional nature of the targeting.
(Please note this is based on reviews of the film online- I have yet to watch it myself.)

@EnglishLady02

Dutch lawyer Harun Reda filed a complaint to the ICC against 1,000 Israeli soldiers accusing them of war crimes in Gaza. His "case" got basically laughed out of court. In fact every single one of the court cases has failed so far. Lack of evidence or just... not credible.

Actually Dutch lawyer Harun Reda’s 482page filing not including the dossier of evidence was not “laughed out of court”

The status is as follows:
The submission is a communication under Article 15 of the Rome Statute. It is under evaluation or preliminary review by the ICC Office of the Prosecutor. The ICC has not formally opened a specific case, indicted individuals, or reached a decision based on this filing.

Just want to make you aware that the wheels of justice in the ICC and ICJ move very slowly.

The ICC move quickly if they have credible evidence. They moved to issue arrest warrants against Hamas operatives within a year on the basis of "reasonable grounds". Reza works for what is essentially a pressure group and his "evidence" is far short of the standard required in a court.
