To say all pro-Palestinians should watch Fauda on Netflix?

Now it is a drama about how the Israeli security services deal with the conflict but it is apparently pretty accurate and is amazingly well produced and acted.

Season 5, which covers Oct 7th has just come out after a long delay.

I've had to take a break after episode 7 because it's so distressing but it still doesn't even come close to what happened that day.

I think it's gives a clearer idea as to the truth of what has been going on and it does try to give a perspective from both sides.

I think every pro-Palestinian should watch it.

And I raise you this: I daren't share any images from this site but they can be found clicking the link. Warning: I hope you haven't eaten recently.

Hamas Massacre | October 7th Proof

On October 7, 2023, thousands of Hamas terrorists breached Israel’s security fence. Over 1,400 men, women, and children were brutally murdered in the ensuing attack. More than 250 men, women, children, and elderly people were violently kidnapped and ta...

“it doesn’t mean horrible things can’t happen”

”horrible things” HAVE happened

they have literally filmed themselves committing war crime after war crime in Gaza

but you and @FuadaFan seem so happy to defend them because you’ve watched a tv series

Its nothing to do with a TV series. I've seen actual footage and images of October 7th. And not just publicly available stuff. Graphic. Even before that, I have Israeli friends. Do I think they're perfect? No, but they're not nearly as bad as wildly exaggerated and lurid media accounts would have you think.

And I've found people who claim there are "millions of videos" have problems actually producing even three of them. There's a huge amount of misinformation out there: don;t be part of it.

“Israeli soldiers have posted videos on Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube showcasing their activities in Gaza, using their own names, often with details of when and where the incidents depicted have taken place.

[pictures of soldiers included and the respective video evidence]

…..Legal experts said these videos provide an unprecedented level of real-time documentation. Unlike past conflicts in which war crimes were investigated after the fact, here, the perpetrators are providing contemporaneous evidence of their own actions.”

Yeah, so I checked the link- and this is a nothingburger. Its a load of random out of context images mostly involving explosions or buildings being destroyed. No indication of where or what else is happening. And some selfies. You can find similar images in any conflict zone. Not one of them depicts war crimes or even anything close.

It proves nothing, and even the "legal" experts say vague things like "civilians may be in danger".

Even if it were true (its not) but let's say for argument's sake it is- no solider is going to be that stupid as to film themselves and post it on social media. How do we even know these are IDF soldiers and not say... Palestinians in stolen uniforms? Is happened before.

> Some have already taken cases to the International Criminal Court (ICC). In October, Dutch lawyer Harun Reda filed a complaint to the ICC against 1,000 Israeli soldiers accusing them of war crimes in Gaza.

His "case" got basically laughed out of court. In fact every single one of the court cases has failed so far. Lack of evidence or just... not credible.

> Video after video captures soldiers gleefully detonating homes, schools and places of worship – acts that violate both the Geneva Conventions and The Hague Regulations.

Its only a war crime if there's people in the building. And since its known Hamas embed themselves in civilian infrastructure it is "military necessity".

But this one is my personal favourite:

> An Israeli soldier detonates a mine-clearing line charge in a village in the Juhor ad-Dik area, northern Gaza.

Yes... that's not a war crime. Why were there Anti Personel mines in a village in the first place?

> Chaim Malespin, an American expatriate and founder and director of pro-settlement group, the Aliyah Return Center, dedicates an explosion to fallen soldiers and "for Purim" (a Jewish holiday).

Yeah. Also not illegal. No different to a soldier writing "for Saddam" on a missile.

And they're all like this. Blurry images of explosions, random. No context.

So has the official meaning of "genocide" been changed to "random explosions and being mean to detainees"? Cos that's all this is: again no context to explosion images at all. Mostly talking heads: and barely one of those people was actually a "legal expert".

Stripping prisoners- bad but also done across the board to ensure they're not armed or have concealed explosives. Not genocide. And lots of uncorroborated anonymous bs.

Again. A nothingburger.

Legally, it is a war crime even if there are no people in the building.

International Law / War Crimes: In the context of international humanitarian law, "wanton destruction" refers to the large-scale demolition of civilian homes, towns, or infrastructure without military necessity. This applies regardless of whether the structures are occupied or completely abandoned.

"Without military necessity" is the cincher here. Its well known Hamas embed themselves in civilian infrastructure. So it may well have been military necessity in these cases.

You really have got every line from the Israeli Playbook 😂

Also pays to note: Al Jazarra is funded by Qatar, which also funds terrorism. An former Al Jazerra "contibutor" was also found to be hiding two hostages in his house. He was a Hamas member too. Says a lot about thier reliability.

Yes, it may have been military necessity but equally, it may not have been. That will be the subject of any case that goes to trial.

In the interim, please note that buildings destroyed do not have to be occupied to constitute a war crime.

Earlier on, there was a post about not spreading misinformation - excellent advice.

Cop on. This is a genocide.

The only people who the UN were actually convinced had committed Crimes Against Humanity on balance of evidence.... were Hamas. This was for "conflict related sexual violence".

"Both my Special Representative and the Commission of Inquiry found that the 7 October attacks were led and coordinated by Hamas, joined by other Palestinian armed groups, including the military arms of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Popular Resistance Committees and the Palestinian Mujahideen Movement, as well as civilians from Gaza. My Special Representative concluded that the complexity and modus operandi of the attacks demonstrated a significant level of planning, coordination and detailed prior knowledge of the targets selected (see S/2024/217). In May 2024, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court submitted applications for warrants for the arrest of three political and military commanders of Hamas, citing reasonable grounds to believe that they bear criminal responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity, including rape and other forms of sexual violence, committed on the territory of Israel and the State of Palestine from at least 7 October 2023."

Did he actually go to any of those places? You're still relying on the "appeal to authority" fallacy. A person can have all the qualifications in the world, but if they haven't acually witnessed the events they're referring to they don't have any basis to comment on them.

As the other person says, if a civilian building is being used for military purposes it becomes a legitimate target. Various groups will fire from civilian buildings to try and get away with killing soldiers, and the army will destroy said buildings. Its not a war crime in such instances.

They're not being "wiped out". Not even close. Less than 3% of the population of Gaza have died in 3 years and many of those were natural deaths.

To put this into perspective: Saudi Arabia killed ten times more people in Yemen then the total of all casualties in Gaza. Sudan, its twenty times more and nobody calls either of those "genocide".

And then there's 10/7: 1200 people killed in one day- most of them civilians. The third worst terrorist attack in history, and not just that but the worst killing of Jews since the Holocaust. And no condemnation from most of the world.

Israel doesn't speak for all Jews, sure, but its home to half the Jewish population on earth. By deeming mass murder of Israelis as acceptable or vilifying all of them we're setting a dangerous precedent.

Edited

No-one on this thread deems the mass murder of Israelis as acceptable or has said anything to suggest they believe this.

Nobody on this thread is vilifying all Israelis. Criticising what the state of Israel is doing is bot vilifying all Israelis.

Btw @Bones101‘s post is not an appeal to authority. It is sharing their own experience. I would have thought the difference is fairly obvious.
