AIBU to think parents should lose benefits /homes for persistently antisocial children?

This has been suggested, im not sure if it will happen , but i think this is a great idea, if the parents think they will lose their council house and benefits , they may attempt to to control their feral offspring .

My friend is in a local harriers group that starts at a local sports centre in the rough part of town, they are now having to stop their favourite route because of gangs of young teens who intimidate them , run along side them and are abusive, one delightful boy said “ lift your legs higher you c**t ,

How have we come to this ?
Do you think it will make any difference ?

I would remove child benefit from them too , maybe this will force them to parent if they risk losing money or their home

Obviously not all the parents are bad, but virtually all the awful kids round here riding motor bikes with hoods, abusing people are from the council estates near by

Im absolutely sick of it, and sick of decent people being targeted by them

I think if you get done for antisocial behaviour then you get one warning. After that, you’re automatically taken out of school / taken off benefits and conscripted into national service until you’re 25.

As for the parents..probably a lost cause by now so let’s focus on the children. Doesn’t matter what your socio economic background is.

None , but it’s not just antisocial school children there are antisocial 18 year olds out of work. The army would sort them out.

Its a fighting force not a social service and has plenty of issues already caused by recruiting very disadvantaged young people which this will simply make worse

The courses are offered, but most don't take them, and we can't stop people getting pregnant or remove the baby at birth (well, I know they used to with unmarried mums, but they wouldn't now).
Even when existing parents are referred on to parenting courses by SS, a lot of them just do it as a tick box exercise, not taking it seriously.
And there are some good parents who do their best, but if the kid falls in with a bad crowd at school/on the estate, it can be really difficult to fight that. Some really try, but the kid sneaks out.

National Service - you mean the Army? Do they want people like that? Feral and uneducated.

A lot of people receive benefits in some form or another, even child benefit.

Uneducated suggestion for them to sign up to the army.

That being said, employment is a great idea. The difference between me and my friends growing up was that I was employed from before I even got my NI number (paper round) and they were out at the ripe age of 14,15,16 smoking weed, sniffing cocaine and taking MDMA, believe it or not. I use the word friends loosely, I spoke to them because the spoke to me. I knew my path and I chose it well.

The army is not a dumping ground, and conscription is unethical, you can’t force people to do a job that involves risking their life, that has to something they are willing to do and sign up for.

I am sorry for your son and i loathe racism ,it disgusts me that people behave like this.
I am thankful to live in an area that is quite peaceful compared to Middlesbrough.
I accept no excuse for the appalling behaviour that we constantly hear about in the media, i don't know what the answer is -probably harsher punishments , but i think you are very unfair to put the blame on social housing tenants and their kids.

No it isn’t a great idea. They won’t be an only child. They’ll have to be housed in homeless accommodation. It’ll encourage further crime if there is no money for food.
I would like to see parents held criminally responsible for their teenage terrorists, but again it’s not always black or white.

• that's isn't fully true : babies CAN be removed at birth, but the risk of harm has to be very high.
