This has been suggested, im not sure if it will happen , but i think this is a great idea, if the parents think they will lose their council house and benefits , they may attempt to to control their feral offspring .

My friend is in a local harriers group that starts at a local sports centre in the rough part of town, they are now having to stop their favourite route because of gangs of young teens who intimidate them , run along side them and are abusive, one delightful boy said “ lift your legs higher you c**t ,

How have we come to this ?
Do you think it will make any difference ?

I would remove child benefit from them too , maybe this will force them to parent if they risk losing money or their home

Obviously not all the parents are bad, but virtually all the awful kids round here riding motor bikes with hoods, abusing people are from the council estates near by

Im absolutely sick of it, and sick of decent people being targeted by them

What rules /sanctions would wise mumsnetters suggest ?

Can only assume this is sarcastic.

Here’s hoping!

OneLilacHedgehog · 02/09/2026 13:12

Let's see. Cut off benefits for kids who are already out of control in public spaces and let them sleep rough.
Yeah can't see any issue with this at all. I mean there is no way they would gang together to commit more crime would they?

I tell you what.

It will make them behave a whole lot better than arranging a game of ping pong in a community centre for them!

Anyway, what hyperbole...starve my arse. Will they not be able to afford a loaf of bread a day.

You are guilty of soft slope head thinking which is why we are ruled by anti social behaviour in many areas.

Punishment is meant to punish and when it doesn't, then it's not punishment is it?

Tell me you’re never had to struggle for anything without telling me.

I guess mummy and daddy wiped your ass for too long which is why you’re so ignorant and entitled.

Not everyone had the bank of mummy and daddy to give them a leg up in life.

Take away the devices and give stickers, lol.

I wish children here were taught in the primary school that they have not only rights, but also responsibilities. That respect for other people, your friends, teachers, family etc. is very important to live in a cohesive society. Something that they teach i.e. in continental Europe. We have gone too much here into individual happiness and making yourself happy - the ultimate goal in your life. Which translates great into the ultra-consumerist society (to make yourself happy with 'things') and ultimately loneliness (because we cast away everybody whom we disagree with).

They are taught this, there’s a whole section of the national curriculum devoted to it and it’s checked by Ofsted.

Wtafdidido · 02/09/2026 14:41

You think there aren’t kids from ‘nice middle class and wealthy ‘ families that aren’t trouble making feral little shits? They just have parents that can get them out of any consequences. Once a child becomes bigger and stronger than there parent and say has a single parent who has removed them from a fb setting but their abusive fathers behaviour has already been modelled what should a parent like this do? It’s not all clear cut. It’s not all or just kids from council house or benefit backgrounds. They are just the easy ones to vilify as usual on mumsnet.

My body my choice! Oh unless you’re poor…

I've never said "my body, my choice" on MN so...

No but you did suggest state sanctioned sterilisation....

So every kid that’s goes bad comes from a council house and parents on benefits!!!!!

I live in a council house and am on pip and esa due to disabilities that I won’t go into. My son is polite and well behaved.

so how do it punish the other parents or it it just kids from council houses?

most of the trouble at my lads school come from over privileged kids who think they have it made. So what do we do with them, or do they get a pass.

I imagine a corresponding forfeit would apply: a fine calculated to hurt.

Error404FucksNotFound · 02/09/2026 18:05

A fine calculated to hurt is not equivalent to being kicked out of your home.

Fiftyandme · 02/09/2026 06:42

How do you think grinding poverty is going to help the situation?

And what about households not on benefits whose children behave badly? Or do you just hate people who claim benefits?

Edited

This. 100%. It would only make things much, much worse.

All the people who think that antisocial families shouldn't lose their homes can have those families housed next door to them to see how they like it. If they don't like this, they have no argument as they can't expect anyone else to put up with it if they aren't prepared to.

Where do you think they will live? They won't cease to exist so they will end up next door to someone anyway - possibly in a tent on the street outside your house.

OonaStubbs · 02/09/2026 18:56

If they in a tent they can be moved on by the police. They aren't living next door to someone and making their life a misery in the long term.

And also, seeing antisocial families out on the street would set an example to other anti-social people to sort themselves out before they are in the same position.

are you genuinely suggesting that children should live in tents on the streets??

If their families are anti-social, yes. What is the alternative? To keep rehousing them, have them cause misery for their neighbours, and then evict them and rehouse them again and again? At what point do we say enough is enough?

ChorizoDog · 02/09/2026 19:04

Based on your assumption that antisocial children are from council estates, then you’d just be making the poor, poorer.

How would you suggest we punish the parents of antisocial children, that own their own homes or not claiming benefits?

You're despicable.

Wishing a child to be homeless.

Absurd. You are as absurd as the poster who thought depictions of gang raped young people while guards watched and smirked / young people who gruesomely kill themselves or get severely brutalised by staff and other inmates (as depicted in the referenced film Scum) was a good way to run borstals and that we should bring them back just like that for antisocial behaviour.

I don't think it's a hysterical "think of the children" to be shocked at the thought some people would see innocent babies in tents on the streets (in winter too?) because someone else in their family was antisocial.

Or you're not for real...

My older brother became involved in drugs and went off the rails at a young age, you really think me and the rest of my family should of been homeless because of what he did ?

RoyalImpatience · 02/09/2026 19:34

I could give you a list , a novel of the kind of deprivation these families
/ Teens have faced. They have no respect for adults probably coz adults let them down as children and they had hard gritty scary childhoods.

However the threat of stopping benefits may help along with parenting courses and therapy and in many cases education ie learning to read.

XenoBitch · 02/09/2026 19:41

Being broke and homeless as a suitable punishment? Is this how some people think now?
What happens to the parents who are not in social housing or on benefits?

Meh. The feral yobs around here live in £1m houses.

Don’t be so bloody ridiculous!

Well, maybe giving some peer pressure onto your brother and showing him that his behaviour is affecting you might help him recognise that he needs to change.

It’s not always someone else’s fault/problem to deal with.

You might have missed insinuations that gang rape/beatings of youths in strict institutions is also accepted by some posters as collateral punishment too. Or nutritional starvation with just a loaf of bread a day. Or babies in tents on the street if their older siblings misbehave.

Horrible and ridiculous in equal measure.

How is this going to solve the problem? Families on the street? Children would be removed and put into the care system which, for many, doesn’t live up to its name. Adults with no home, no address, can't wash, can't sleep...not going to be able to work. Crime will result. The rich will end up in gated communities to keep safe.

Better to invest in families, providing support, education, information, practical advice. Improve schools, listen to teachers about what is required.

Your way only brings us all down.
