What’s With Cillian Murphy? AIBU?

So last night, I was watching TV.

Family piled on the sofa. Kids… dogs… we were laughing and chatting and generally enjoying the craic. Also in the room, just out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Cillian Murphy. He was steadily working through a pile of ironing which had accumulated in the hot weather cause it was too hot to tackle right? He was smiling. Joining in the banter. He joined us on the sofa and then ordered a Deliveroo. Which was proper nice of him cause I was feeling a bit peckish.

AIBU to have wanted this scenario to have played out before my dog woke me? She likes to get up onto the bed round about 7am. Would have been nice to have seen what Cillian ordered 😐

Yes you’re unreasonable. Get up and go walk the dog.
No. It was lovely of Cillian to wade through your ironing pile and order snacks but did he pay?

What?

Nousernameideaaga · 19/08/2026 20:53

Firstly wtf are you talking about?

Secondly, it doesn’t matter , carry on………

Also how can I get him to do my ironing?

Tableforjoan · 19/08/2026 20:54

How very rude of your dog.

However I heard he is not very good at ironing.

dibleydob · 19/08/2026 20:54

When he was ironing was he doing that face he does when he gets bored in interviews?

Nousernameideaaga · 19/08/2026 20:55

Did he tell you “no fucking fighting” about him doing the ironing?

mamaduckbone · 19/08/2026 20:55

At least waking up means you can complete the Cillian in your living room scenario in whatever way you choose, with your most desired Deliveroo and whatever might come after…

dudsville · 19/08/2026 20:56

Fabulous dream op, the dog didn't mean to ruin it!

WonderingWanda · 19/08/2026 20:56

I think I would've been quite disappointed if the thing he was doing in my dream was the ironing!

Nousernameideaaga · 19/08/2026 20:59

I feel like I’ve found my people on mumsnet now ☺️

thistimelastweek · 19/08/2026 21:00

That's one amazing fantasy.
A gorgeous bloke doing your ironing.
Does it get better?
George Clooney cleaning the lav?

AMATurk · 19/08/2026 21:02

I don't think Cillian would do that. He would be sat on the edge of your sofa (not wanting to commit to the permanence of taking the full seat) and looking at you all like he would rather be ANYWHERE else in the world.

Thats my impression from his interviews anyway.

I met him once.

Nooooo , don’t ruin it with extras.

Cillian on his own would do nicely ☺️

ETA would also accept Tommy Shelby

AHH, I woke up in the middle of a delicious dream about my imaginary boyfriend OP. It's too cruel.

Well I’m a Virgo. A man doing chores even if he’s not a movie star, floats my boat. Cillian, so happy in his work, was glorious to see. And to be clear, no money changed hands… he was 100% up for it.

Hey, I'm not talking coincidental cleaning.
Obviously they'd come on different days of the week

Cillian Murphy is a notoriously bad ironer. It's well known in Hollywood but all the stories get hushed up.

MyArtfulGreySloth · 19/08/2026 21:10

He’s gorgeous but seems a bit of a knob unfortunately.

Yeah , talented humble loyal family man. The dick.

😬

MyManinCaracas · 19/08/2026 20:52

What?

Which part needs clarification? Cillian. In a Tommy Shelby style shirt, sleeves rolled up, sorting out my laundry basket. His creases needed work but honestly, I was chuffed to see the back of it all.

It’s my crazy lady dream and I’m not obliged to go into why he was there, doing that.

George doesn’t do the ironing.

No he doesn't, he seems like he can't be arsed with all the fame trappings of acting.

In Birmingham, he got off the train with Charlotte Riley (Tom Hardys wife, who is absolutely lovely) a few hours before a premier event at Cineworld. I was walking behind them but didn't intrude.

But spoke to them both (and Tom Hardy) that evening at the event.

BeachHairForLife · 19/08/2026 21:29

I don't know how I found this but I'm so happy I did. What did you order from Deliveroo?

Well done for not intruding. He’s the only celebrity that I don’t think I would be able to act normal around. I would probably vomit out of sheer excitement

MyFairLady22 · 19/08/2026 21:39

George Clooney and I have had a thing going for years. Used to drive my ExH round the bend. George would just show up when he felt like it, hang out. Always mooching if I’d cooked steak pie (a particular favourite of his). Ex was pissed that he’d just invite himself. My friends were all like “you DO realise who that IS?!”
“Yeah, I know. We’ve known each other years. Never anything between us. Just friends”. After he met Amal, he didn’t get up to Wigan much. She didn’t like it. Very insecure, she was, for such a highly educated woman. I mean, she was nowt to look at, in the flesh.
