What’s With Cillian Murphy? AIBU?

So last night, I was watching TV.

Family piled on the sofa. Kids… dogs… we were laughing and chatting and generally enjoying the craic. Also in the room, just out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Cillian Murphy. He was steadily working through a pile of ironing which had accumulated in the hot weather cause it was too hot to tackle right? He was smiling. Joining in the banter. He joined us on the sofa and then ordered a Deliveroo. Which was proper nice of him cause I was feeling a bit peckish.

AIBU to have wanted this scenario to have played out before my dog woke me? She likes to get up onto the bed round about 7am. Would have been nice to have seen what Cillian ordered 😐

Yes you’re unreasonable. Get up and go walk the dog.
No. It was lovely of Cillian to wade through your ironing pile and order snacks but did he pay?

Well in that case I think OP would find it hard to waste your time any more effectively than you are doing your own.

I commented because I actually wondered if it was a wind-up.
What I choose to do with my time is up to me.

Well then, the joke’s on you @Markisagreatname Unlike most normal people who don’t lead the kind of stimulating lifestyle you profess to enjoy, the bog standard folk who’ve enjoyed a bit of harmless chit chat are OK with this sort of nonsense. It’s not earth shattering stuff but it WAS my dream and I chose to share.

You’ve wasted your own time. Could’ve been doing… (feel free to fill in the gap).

I’m not the one spouting vitriol at random strangers online. I didn’t get my comment deleted.

Am I not allowed a difference of opinion?

Nousernameideaaga · 20/08/2026 21:42

So he heard this thread that started about him has gone a bit off topic.

It’s not a good idea to get on the wrong side of Tommy Shelby

I daresay, has Mrs Amal Clooney entered the chat? 🤔
Don't worry, I'm sure your hubby will make you a nice freshly brewed coffee in the morning! ☕️

Or god forbid, it is Yvonne McGuinness? 😆
In that case, I know your fella would say "no fucking fighting!"

I had a Cilian Murphy dream once. He showed me his vintage knitting collection, which had some lovely 1940s Fair Isle in it.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 20/08/2026 21:53

You've reminded me of when DS was little. Obe morning he woke up and immediately started sobbing. When I asked him what was wrong, he said he wanted to go back to Candyland.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 20/08/2026 21:55

I once comforted a bereft Kenneth Branagh after he and Emma Thompson split. He was wearing a dark blue cashmere overcoat and a black polo neck.I gave him lots of sterling advice as we walked up to school to pick my kids up. All the other mums were dead jealous. Then I found out about HBC when i woke up. Wasted all that good advice.
I wouldn't care if it was Ray Winstone(who im sure is a lovely bloke) if he wants to pitch in on the ironing, hes welcome any day.

To be fair, this does sound like something he would do

SemiRetiredLoveGoddeess · 20/08/2026 22:05

I find that their is something deeply disturbing and rightening about Cillian Murphy.

If he turned up in my dream l would think l was having a nightmare.

MyFairLady22 · 20/08/2026 22:06

@Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride That’s hilarious! Ken, he looks good in a polo neck. To be fair, most men do.

Dogs do do this!!!

climbintheback · 20/08/2026 22:07

Did he have any clothes on? He was naked in a film the other day but he was shooting monsters definitely not ironing!

Morepositivemum · 20/08/2026 22:08

Ps I also find Cillian Murphy terrifying, always did!

@SemiRetiredLoveGoddeess To be sure, he’s not everyone’s dreamboat. You can substitute Cillian for whomever floats your boat. Me and George Clooney? I remember being horribly disappointed when he told me he wasn’t a real trauma consultant after I showed him my verucca. He isn’t even medically qualified.

When I saw your thread title, I thought whatever he has done, leave him well alone,
As my Cillian can do no wrong!!! 🫠.

MyFairLady22 · 20/08/2026 22:19

@climbintheback Fully clothed. There were kids present.

Thing is, the gorgeous celebrity men who regularly show up in my dreams are WHO they are but are always doing ordinary things. I’m never on a red carpet or out to dinner at a glamorous restaurant. I’m not sure why not 🤔

I may need help?

That’s a rhetorical question and definitely not an invitation to @Markisagreatname to throw mud 😂

Castolaya · 20/08/2026 22:21

Love Cillian but his parlour strikes me as vegan. I wouldn’t be letting him order my Indian but I’d happily throw him a Peshwari Naan.

Hilarious post. And what a dream...so beautifully random.
