What’s With Cillian Murphy? AIBU?

So last night, I was watching TV.

Family piled on the sofa. Kids… dogs… we were laughing and chatting and generally enjoying the craic. Also in the room, just out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Cillian Murphy. He was steadily working through a pile of ironing which had accumulated in the hot weather cause it was too hot to tackle right? He was smiling. Joining in the banter. He joined us on the sofa and then ordered a Deliveroo. Which was proper nice of him cause I was feeling a bit peckish.

AIBU to have wanted this scenario to have played out before my dog woke me? She likes to get up onto the bed round about 7am. Would have been nice to have seen what Cillian ordered 😐

Yes you’re unreasonable. Get up and go walk the dog.
No. It was lovely of Cillian to wade through your ironing pile and order snacks but did he pay?

I had a wonderful dream once involving Tommy Shelby! 😆

Moneyordream · 19/08/2026 21:45

I met him in London on the tube one night in 2011 such a nice guy! Explained we named our son Cillian after him. Was very discreet as knew he didn't like a fuss so didn't ask for a photo. He wrote me a note. Prized possession in our house

AHH, I woke up in the middle of a delicious dream about my imaginary boyfriend OP. It's too cruel.

Imaginary (boy) friends. Surprisingly low maintenance.

I once dreamt that I really really needed my garden shed moved, but DH was at work. So Henry Cavill popped round to lift it and move it for me. Unfortunately, I was woken by the alarm before he finished shifting it.

Disappointing.

I don't know how I found this but I'm so happy I did. What did you order from Deliveroo?

Y’know it’s such a shame because I can’t remember the order but I was struck by his take charge attitude. None of this fannying about, arguing about who wants to share a side. I like to think it was something we could have eaten without the dog drooling all over us.

The dog’s just reminded me that George never brought wine 🙄

😂 the dog looks legit disappointed in George and his shoddy performance as an imaginary boyfriend.

Thank God Cillian showed up, ironing and food sorted.

I want to wake up in the morning and find that, not only has Richard Madden arrived in the night and dealt with the spider in the porch, he has also emptied the dishwasher and started to cook me whatever breakfast Scottish people have.

MyFairLady22 · 19/08/2026 22:09

@Thedisappearingbag I love that! 😂 Henry’s quite a big unit so he’d have managed it no problem. Was he wearing his undies outside his tights? I like to think so … (I may retire to bed soon, taking that image with me, if you don’t mind?)

I’m having a sofabed delivered at the weekend. Lovely to think Henry might be doing a little extra work for John Lewis!

@BeachHairForLife He’d rock up in a kilt, surely? If he doesn’t tell him you’re having a lie in and can he come back tomorrow. In a kilt.

George Clooney and I have had a thing going for years. Used to drive my ExH round the bend. George would just show up when he felt like it, hang out. Always mooching if I’d cooked steak pie (a particular favourite of his). Ex was pissed that he’d just invite himself. My friends were all like “you DO realise who that IS?!”
“Yeah, I know. We’ve known each other years. Never anything between us. Just friends”. After he met Amal, he didn’t get up to Wigan much. She didn’t like it. Very insecure, she was, for such a highly educated woman. I mean, she was nowt to look at, in the flesh.

My husband and I reached out to George and Amal about a possible partner swap weekend.
They never got back to us.

MyFairLady22 · 19/08/2026 22:15

@thistimelastweek … try again. Offer a bottomless pie. It’s George’s favourite. Plenty of gravy 👍

In my head the only thing he owns are kilts, and maybe the little bag thing that goes with the kilt for keeping chocolates in 😂

Which part needs clarification? Cillian. In a Tommy Shelby style shirt, sleeves rolled up, sorting out my laundry basket. His creases needed work but honestly, I was chuffed to see the back of it all.

It’s my crazy lady dream and I’m not obliged to go into why he was there, doing that.

George doesn’t do the ironing.

George would make you coffee out of a Nespresso machine.

John Cena would come round my house and move some furniture round for me then offer to be my Personal Trainer for the challenge.

Nah, we've moved on to Leo Woodall and Meghann Fahy.
Thinking they'll be more polite about RSVP.

He wore a t-shirt and joggers. He had a shed to shift, practicality ruled.

I remember I was impressed with his can-do attitude and his grim determination to get the job done. I had no idea how he knew i needed the shed moved, but I was pleased he turned up.

WishIWasAPanda · 19/08/2026 22:38

YABU for having him in your living room and wasting him on the ironing ;)

It’s not chocolate in there. It’s nuts bolts and an Alan key. In case he has to put a chest of draws together for you.

Tommy Flanagan and I teamed up to rescue a load of children and defeat some drug traffickers. We may have had a little kiss and canoodle halfway through when we got the chance. That man knows what he's doing with his hands. When handling a gun or grenades obviously 😳

I just laughed out loud at this and terrified the cat away with the sudden noise. I hope there are some cat treats in the little bag to tempt him back in as it's raining and I don't want go outside, definitely a Richard job.

They come in actual sets? The only reason I have a set (or just some in a sandwich bag) is because they keep turning up in the box with flat pack furniture

MyFairLady22 · 19/08/2026 22:57

@Thedisappearingbag It’s always great when yer man knows exactly what you want without needing to ask 😉

@thistimelastweek Leo’s a good choice there. He’s young though; he won’t help with the ironing or get his hands down the u-bend.

@Glitchymn1 That boy, is a girl ☺️ She’s been to the groomer today and I think they only had blue bows. She’s all ready for dreams now… gently snoring on the bed beside me. She has a new love interest herself… a rescued sheep called Esme who lives with a relative of mine. They talk endlessly of fleece styles and have the same colourist!

@70isaLimitNotaTarget Oooh that reminds me… there’s an old Nespresso machine knocking about somewhere. Might dust it down in case George shows up. It belonged to my ExH and I’m pretty sure he won’t be wanting it back.

Yup
Sets.
Different sizes for different jobs.
Like spanners.

That’s good to know because I thought they were one size fits all. Like much in life, size matters. I shall start a collection. I used to collect hooks and eyes for my sewing box until I had no room for my multicoloured cotton reels. I think Allen keys might prove more useful.

Thank you so much for the correct spelling of Allen key @thistimelastweek
