AIBU to think parents chasing each other round Morrisons is odd?

I just saw a 30-something couple chasing each other around Morrisons whilst their young kids stood watching and giggling. AIBU to think this is mad?

Who cares? It’s not like it’s a regular event or lots of people doing it.

Perfectly normal round our way. It's mostly amature parent chasers in a Morrisons though. Have you ever watched the professionals go through a Waitrose? Thrilling!

Interesting fact - over 80% of supermarket parent chasers have the mum chasing the dad. Very rare the other way around.

Chasing each other for fun, or chasing each other out of anger? Barging into people or being careful?

I guess this happens when there aren’t enough people for a flash mob.

I can confirm DH once chased me around Waitrose with a Waitrose Essentials Quail Egg.

I think it’s really odd when a couple go round a supermarket together (with or without children)

I mean, it’s a chore. Surely just one of you does it whilst the other does something equally domestically useful elsewhere.

God forbid some people have fun and make their children laugh

The only supermarket in our town is a Morrisons. It's pretty poor and I try and avoid going in there. So I couldn't tell you if adults chase each other round the shop or not. They certainly don't do it in Sainsbury's.

It’s really not that odd, not everyone finds it miserable and some couples like doing even boring things together.

Really? Grown adults run around supermarkets? How would getting out more help, exactly, as it's happening in a supermarket? Getting out more to, say, theatre, bars, restaurants and cinemas isn't going to help, is it?

There's a time and a place, and Morrisons on a busy Saturday is not it.
This would have really pissed me off.

Were you perhaps in an episode of Bluey and hadn't realised, OP? The quickest test is whether or not the parents were dogs.

I always go with DP to the supermarket. We like different foods and are interested in different offers/different items on the dead and dying shelf. God forbid we enjoy an activity together as a couple considering we both work a lot - so the supermarket is one of the only times we can be together

Probably they were playing a game? Or as a PP suggested, an under-attended flashmob. It IS disappointing, though, when there's just a run of the mill parent chase and no one bursts into a spontaneous chorus of "Ode to Joy" !!

You might be less fussed about other people having a bit of a laugh if you have a bit more fun of your own.

Ours is a Lidl.

We have fist fights, shop lifters being tackled, kids riding round on bikes.

How the other half live ‘eh.

Yup drives me mad when the “spare” person just stands there blocking the aisle with the trolley.

Team supermarket chase/tig/hide and seek/peekaboo. Some people like their husbands and there's no rule against adults demonstrating a little levity.

Really? The customers I see going in to the Aldi and the Lidl in our next town certainly don't look as though they up for fist fights - generally families and older couples.

I expect every supermarket gets shoplifters. Sainsbury's certainly does. And I have seen children in there with these shoes that have wheels in their heels, but not on bikes thank goodness
