AIBU to think parents chasing each other round Morrisons is odd?

I just saw a 30-something couple chasing each other around Morrisons whilst their young kids stood watching and giggling. AIBU to think this is mad?

I am currently growing a beard which I absolutely fucking hate but it annoys my wife.

We play jokes on each other. Constantly. I have mates who will start a wind up and it goes on for weeks.

My dad and his mates were the same. Knocking on one of the lads doors in shorts and caps and school ties and asking the guys wife "is Arthur coming out to play?"

Saw a young kid nearly get lost at a Morrisons (won't ask you which branch), so it's not funny if they're neglecting their kids. Or if they run into someone who is already in pain/has just had an op etc. Bet if they were in that situation they'd be the first to complain if they ended up in hospital-or if someone else's kid ran in to them (and it wouldn't be the kid's fault if their parents taught them it's ok).

Whatever it takes could include not taking the child to the shop in the first place if you know that's likely to happen.

What kind of shithole town only has a Morrisons? I seriously can't imagine such a place. How can you have a Morrisons and no Tesco or Asda?

There's a time and a place and running around a supermarket is just ridiculous. Reminds me of the 1980s comedian Duncan Norvelle whose catchphrase was 'Chase Me'.

What annoys me is when I'm trying to do grocery shopping and someone has brought their partner and kids like it's a family outing, and now there's too many people standing around in the aisles.

The week running up to Christmas is the worst - it's already stressful and chocker and stuffy and the queues are horrendous, then you add on families who are bringing their partner, kids, grandkids, pet fish, second uncle-in-law. Only one person needs to do the grocery shopping.

Adults acting like children is pathetic. Too many people go into supermarkets and turn into idiots and it turns shopping from what should be a simple process into an absolute living nightmare.

They sound fucking annoying, especially if it was busy and they were bashing into other shoppers and getting in everyone’s way. Supermarkets are no places for fun! 😉

My guess would be Horsforth. They do have some "express" supermarkets like Tesco express, but I believe Morrisons is their only actual supermarket - though I could be wrong as I've only visited once and I live a hundred or so miles away 😂

Well Morrisons layout is totally different from other well known supermarkets and I get lost in it. DH gets lost in all supermarkets even small ones (think Coop). He absolutely definitely cannot cope with Costco - if I wanted to lose him I would do it there 🤣

What was there to be puzzled about?

We love it.

It is fun to discover new spices or inspiration for new recipes. I also think it has helped our dc develop quite healthy palates, because we involve them in some choices too.

We don't chase each other though ...

Buying the food for the Christmas festive break is one the fun things about Christmas. Why would you stop families doing that together?

This!!! I cant fathom families that treat this as a day out. My friend always goes with her husband and 3 kids, never ever alone. I think its bizarre. Kids are 13 to 5 and all complain. We wouldnt have time in thos household to both do a job one could do!

Because the queues are massive, the kids are bored and whinging around Tesco, the parents are often stressed, there's people ramming trollies and trying to get past cos there's too many people standing in the aisles cos people are bringing their entire lineage into the supermarket. Don't know what your idea of a fun time is but it's very different to mine, clearly.

Well we do quite enjoy it, but your post did make me smile because the extreme frustration was palpable.

And I will now be more aware not to stand about in the aisles this year!

ETA maybe I'm just overtired but the expression "entire lineage" used in this context is making me laugh really hard!

Nelson has a Morrisons, no Asda, Tesco or Sainsbury's. Does have a Lidl. It is a shithole.
