It’s a hen party one. Annoyed my DSis

DSis is 7 years younger than me and I’ve agreed to go on her abroad hen weekend next month. Every detail has been planned by her MoH and there’s an in depth itinerary.

Last night, MoH put a message in the group to say for 2 of the events (a meal and a beach club) there will be consistent outfits required, one of these will be swimwear.

She is ordering the swimwear and put a poll in the group to ask people to record their size.

I take issue with this because 1. The swimwear in question is a thong bikini and 2. I find it embarrassing to share my size in front of the group (I am larger than them all, which is why I mentioned the age gap).

I privately messaged MoH to say I’ll bring my own swimwear which will also be white so it matches.

Dsis called me an hour later (she’s not in the group) - she said that I should just wear it for the photo at the start and then change straight out of it l, that she wants me to get involved and she’d be gutted if I’m not in any photos and not matching. I shared why I’m reluctant but she’s having none of it.

Am I being awkward here? I feel like it’s a lot to expect. Before anyone suggests it, I can’t cancel and I will be going on the hen, she’s my sister and it’s paid for.

This can't be real, surely no-one would force their friends to be photographed in a thong for some hen do photos. They are meant to be friends!

Just do it for the photo and then change or get a sarong on. Mumsnet will tell you absolutly not and a thong is disgusting etc but real life will tell you to do it for the sake of a photo, push yourself out of your comfort zone and get yourself some good karma

Bollocks.

Hen parties have become ridiculous. They’ve gone from being an enjoyable night out down the pub to an expensive ordeal for some people.

Oh lord, not the bum photo! It’s a bit of a thing isn’t it? All lined up from behind… really not fair to insist.

I seem to recall one of those seedy seaside potcards where a row of 'substantial' ladies are lined up peering over a rail into the sea and the wind causes their skirts to be blown up, displaying their huge Granny pants.

It’s her sister. Even worse.

Perhaps if everyone got bum implants for the hen do, they would look better? They could get matching implant sizes.

Matching implant sizes wouldn’t work. What they must do is decide on a consistent eventual bum size and take it from there, by each getting the appropriate implant size depending on their initial bum size.

Why am I scared some people would actually do that 😭😭😭

😭🤣

Just order size 6 and when it doesn’t fit say you thought you’d put 16 but luckily you have your own

seven201 · Yesterday 22:58

Good lord. That is mad! There is no way I’d wear a bikini, let alone a white thong one! I think you were very reasonable offering to bring your own white swimwear.

absolutely ridiculous request to make. Stand your ground.

Welshgal7 · Yesterday 22:59

Can you just change the bottoms to a different white pair? Would that be acceptable to you and her?

If not, fuck it. You’re a grown woman and can wear what you like!

Papster · Yesterday 23:08

Say you can’t wear a bikini as your hernia will stick out with no support.

babyproblems · Yesterday 23:08

Thong swimwear is gross even on a perfect figure. I’d say ‘I’ve thought it over and just am absolutely not comfortable with a thong swimsuit so it won’t be happening for me! I’ll deffo wear white of course and a style that’s similar.’ I’d probably also say something like ‘I’ll be honest and say a thong is quite a personal choice and there may be others who are also not comfortable.. just a thought. Thanks for all your organising, looking forward to it’ and keep it civil and polite.
You’re definitely not the only one who is reluctant on the thong and I think others would be relieved that someone speaks up!!!
No way would I wear a thong swimsuit just because someone I know is getting married..

lidlcheesetwist · Yesterday 23:10

You couldn’t pay me to wear a thong bikini in front of my husband, let alone my sister’s mates. All for a wanky Insta pic, probably. Fuck that!

But if you feel uncomfortable the photo is THE LAST place you want to be - that will be all over social media and who knows how often it will come back round

I'm with you all the way, it's too ridiculous for words. All this hen do stuff has got out of hand.

ChaToilLeam · Yesterday 23:59

If you ever see me in a thong bikini, please call the police, because it means someone has got a gun to my head.

What a ridiculous demand, tell your sister that your answer is NO, that you are very unhappy that she is putting her photo opportunity ahead of your personal comfort and boundaries, and that MoHzilla can get back in her fucking box. I bet you're not the only reluctant one.

Did you read my post, or just the title? 🙄

She's right though, the commenter you are replying to that is.

Anyway, obviously you don't have to flash your arse cheeks in public, or in private for anyone at all, not ever, and it's an absolutely insane demand.

Unless....you already knew this was an arse cheek flashing, tacky, chavvy holiday, that your arse was required to be on display, and you accepted the invitation anyway.

In which case, suck it up.
