Primary school asking parents to not change Nappies in the toilet

My 5 year old is sen in a mainstream until he transitions to specialist in September. He's toilet trained at home but requires nappies at school/outdoors due to anxiety over using the toilet.
He goes into school 5 mins after gates close as he's an escape risk. This past week just as we've entered the gates he's done a poop, so I've taken him into the reception "accessible" toilet, changed him, bagged the waste and placed it into the bin. I obviously don't want to hand him over full of poop!
Just received this pedantic email (attached in comments) which will have gone to all parents. I'm quite annoyed as my their suggestion of staff escorting parents to another toilet. My son cannot access the main school and is in a segregated area with full time 1-1. Plus I'd have to faff around getting a sign in badge. Reception are aware he's sen and only has one week left before moving schools after summer.
I spoke to his 1-1 about it and we're convinced it's aimed at us and one other parent who's baby goes on the school run.

AIBU to feel like emailing them suggesting they place a nappy bin in the toilet, buy some air fresheners and maybe get a better sealed door if the smell travels the much?

A better sealed door wouldn't stop the toilet smelling bad and air fresheners would just mingle with it. Could you take the waste home to your own bin?

I don’t understand though why you can’t use the other toilets that have the nappy bins? You talk about him escaping his 1-2-1 etc. but how is that relevant if you’re the one taking him to the toilet before he’s in class? How does the specific toilet matter?

Yes then he should address the lack of nappy bin and ask for the solution. And in the meantime dispose in the nappy they do have.

Flush the poo down the toilet bag up the nappy and take it with you …..poor school having to deal with this

Schools are overflowing with spare cash to provide all those things to satisfy your niche need OP. Go complain Hun, ofstead and guvnors first.

Sanitary bins are emptied by specialist contractors and definitely not daily, or possibly even weekly. So using them for nappies really isn’t appropriate.

Surely though, you can tip all of the poo into the loo and flush it, so taking the nappy with you to dispose of it somewhere else isn’t such a big deal. If you’re in a toilet cubicle there’s never any reason to actually wrap the poo up and take it with you!!

Sounds frustrating and I understand your reasons for not wanting to go the other toilet BUT you need to bag the nappy and take it home. We often go to baby groups and have to do this - the toilets have signs asking people to not use the sanitary bins for nappies.

Sani bins aren’t emptied daily!!! A special contractor service has to come out and empty them usually every few weeks or even every few months depending on the number of staff! So are school supposed to put up with your child’s dirty nappy rotting and stinking out the staff toilets for weeks on end??!! FFS!!!!

I think she doesn’t want to make him wait and do more walking about with poo in his nappy which is fair.

The school are being entirely reasonable.

The school have offered access to a toilet which has the right facilities. If you don't want to use the toilet with the right facilities then you need to make sure you take the waste away with you.

You sound incredibly entitled just dumping a literal bag of shit in a normal bin, especially during this hot weather. You clearly have no respect for others using that space.

You can literally buy nappy disposal bags for travelling. Get some.

An accessible toilet should have the correct facilities including disposing of nappies for disabled children.

They also could've just had a quick word with you at pick up/drop off where you could've discussed it. Sending out an email seems a bit OTT.

I think a sanitary bin will fill up quickly with nappies .Normal cleaners aren’t expected to empty them . They are normally swapped out on a schedule every two or four weeks for example. Even if it’s just a couple of people using them for nappies I’d expect it to be getting pretty whiffy in this heat.

In my DDs school the sanpro bins are emptied monthly. Can you imagine the smell from a nappy in this heat after for weeks?

How on earth do you fit a nappy full of poo into a sanibin? You must have to use some serious muscle to do so. Surely any sensible person would realise that is not what they are for?

If air fresheners remove the smell of crap so well, there's nothing stopping you popping one in a carrier bag with the soiled nappy, and disposing of it at home 🤷‍♂️

They do provide nappy bins. Just not in that toilet.
