To think this is a step too far from the SNP?

The SNP have released a statement today saying they are “raising a glass” to Argentina.

Now I understand the whole football thing, anyone but England etc.

But Argentina killed Scottish troops in 1982. It’s too much.

To think this is a step too far from the SNP?

This has nothing to do with a war that these players weren't even born at it's a football game.

Of course it does. This is an incredibly political match.

SNP are a bunch of snivelling dicks who are no friend to Scottish women, child safeguarding, education, the economy, all the shite with the murrell scandal, on and on.

They can witter on about football and try and distract from their abysmal record in Scotland but I'm not buying it. England are a better football team than us, we didn't even get past the first round. Well done to them and fair dos if they win. The English media can be a bit wearing but otherwise I just roll my eyes at any SNP antics these days.

Disclaimer: I was an SNP campaigner, voted yes in 2014 and supported them for a long time until I saw what they were actually doing. Disappointed is an understatement. So I pretty much ignore any of their stunts.

UniquePinkSwan · 15/07/2026 14:02

It’s a football game, not a war

They’re vile. It’s a spit in the face to the soldiers who fought and died.

Did Scottish soldiers not kill anyone? I know for a fact they did as my BIL served there

Gingerkittykat · 15/07/2026 14:09

I've looked for this press release but can't find it, I just found an AOL article saying the SNP had made this statement.

I won't believe the SNP said this until I see the statement for myself, it looks to me like the newspapers are just shit stirring.

Will Scots back the Three Lions against Argentina - or is it 'anyone but England'? - AOL

As England progress, possibly to a final, some Scottish football fans are making tricky decisions about where their loyalties lie.

Are you aware of why we fought the Falklands war?

It's been reported in the Times as an official SNP press release. There was also someone from.the SNP on Times radio this morning talking to Hugo Rifkind about it.

Does that apply to the fact the England manager is German to the soldiers who died at the hands of Germans in the war then?

Is it? Why?

What will change politically if England win or lose?

It's exactly the same thing. The England have a German manager, a country who killed lots of British soldiers if you want to go down that route

Well it’s not.

Scotland are actively endorsing the Argentinian regime.

Ok, and the English FA appointing a man from a nation responsible for the deaths of thousands of Scots within living memory is what, precisely?

What because you say do? Aye right. Anything to justify your anti Scottish/SNP rhetoric . Aren't the English FA endorsing Germany? 🤔

The SNP have ruined Scotland and turned it in to a laughing stock on the world stage. Embarrassing.

Anti Scottish and anti SNP are not the same thing.

The SNP are a bunch of incompetents, they embarrass Scotland every time one of them opens their mouth.

Gloriia · 15/07/2026 14:34

The SNP are a laughing stock and this latest dick move is of no surprise.

They should try and follow the England team's example and show some class and dignity but no chance.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 15/07/2026 14:38

The SNP are the absolute worst of Scotland. Small minded, petty, Anglo phobic.

Gloriia · 15/07/2026 14:39

There was such good natured rivalry between Norway and England, it's how it should be.

The snp and many scots are choking on their own bitterness and resentment. If England lose they lose, they'll take it with good grace unlike some vitriolic scots who cannot handle the fact they fell at the first hurdle.

Raising a glass to the argies? Fgs.

And yet they've just been voted in again at the recent election, clearly the majority don't agree with you on that
