Why can’t I report this horrible woman?

bs125 · 14/07/2026 18:27

Horrible woman who used to be my very good friend, made a malicious police report several years ago about me and my children. It was instantly confirmed by police it was malicious and no further action was taken. I know it was her, I am 100% on this. I have never confronted her as she would just deny it. She tried to ruin my life through jealousy (not jealous of me directly).

I Need to still see her daily and I am civil but inside I am reeling all these years later. I want to wipe the smug smile off her face. She claims to be living as a single person and receives benefits, whilst living the high life not single and not struggling in any way. I want to report her for benefit fraud, but I simply can’t do it. I don’t have it in me to do it.

why can’t I do it? I physically can’t bring myself to do it, my conscience won’t allow me to. When Everytime I see her I get so angry at how smug and smart she thinks she is. I can’t seem to let go of the anger towards her, if anyone has any tips on how to deal with the anger I feel please let me know. Aibu that I feel like this yet still can’t bring myself to report her?

@bs125
@LittlestBoho has pit it perfectly 👌

You need to make a choice.
Also invest in a punch bag also. I found this a good way to let out my anger, getting a stronger punch and really digging my cousin back was the happy side effect.

Edited to add
I'm a firm believer of she who stirs the pot eventually licks the spoon. You reporting is delivering the spoon

Edited

@itsmeitsyou - 'She who stirs the pot eventually licks the spoon'. I've never heard this before, and it is sublime. Thank you so much.

God, not another one. Go away and live your life ffs!

Lordofmyflies · 14/07/2026 19:26

Report her. She’s committing fraud. I can’t bear benefit fraud. It is taking money away from those who need it.

TheOccupier · 14/07/2026 19:27

PM me her details and I'll do it!

Hereforadviceee · 14/07/2026 19:31

It’s not worth posting threads like these. Too many people doing the same reading them. 🤣 and get their back up.

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 14/07/2026 19:36

my conscience won’t allow me to.

I dont get this.

Objectively even if she'd done nothing to you she's committing fraud.... I'd report her on that basis alone

An eye for an eye and the world is blind.

take the high road on this one.

MerryUmberHedgehog · 14/07/2026 19:40

You are the better person by the sound of it. Leave it and move on. Focus your feelings on yourself.

Didn’t you post about this yesterday op?

SunnyRedSnail · 14/07/2026 19:44

@bs125 why wouldn't you report her??

It's nothing to do with history. It is you reporting someone for claiming money they are not entitled to.

I really can't stand benefit cheats.

somanychristmaslights · 14/07/2026 19:47

Why do you see her daily?

Delphiniumandlupins · 14/07/2026 19:49

Owly11 · 14/07/2026 18:52

It's because if you report her you will lose your moral superiority and that's the bit that you cherish more. If you report her, in your mind you become as bad as her.

A malicious complaint with no action v committing fraud? There's a clear distinction here!!!!

Iheartlibrarians · 14/07/2026 19:54

Benefit fraud isn't a victimless crime, @bs125 - it's one thing to turn a blind eye when someone really needs it, but if she doesn't, I think that's a reason to report it regardless of anything to do with your history.

Strokethefurrywall · 14/07/2026 20:06

Just infuriates me that people get to try and ruin other people’s life’s through jealousy but nothing ever seems to happen to them.

Well something would happen if you reported her!!!

Just do it already, she’s claiming illegally and you won’t lose moral “high ground”.

She’s a cunt, get your revenge and you’ll feel better. No point being “the bigger person” if you’re carrying so much anger. Orchestrate her comeuppance and sit back and smile.

Of course there is but I am speculating that in op's mind she is equating them.

hourspassed · 14/07/2026 20:08

I agree with a pp who advised you do something - it's not healthy to lie with this level of anger - you do know that though.

I would report her. If she makes another malicious report about you then you have nothing to fear - same as last time.

XenoBitch · 14/07/2026 20:12

How do you know she made the report about you?

Do you know for sure she is committing benefit fraud? Do you know for certain that she has a partner living with her, and do you know she is not on a joint claim with them? People on benefits are not expected to look like they are struggling.

If you are certain she is committing fraud, then why did you not report when you were still friends? Maybe that is why your conscience is struggling with it... because it is basically revenge for something you can't prove anyway.

Being angry at someone is like drinking poison and expecting them to die.
Try to focus on the good people and things in your life. I am sure she is not giving you as much headspace as you are her.

@bs125 Report her regardless of what she's done to you. She's frauding all of us. You can be anonymous. If many years have passed she won't suspect you. She's probably in conflict with lots of people if she's malicious.

bs125 · 14/07/2026 20:43

Thanks all for the advice.

she made a malicious report about my children, well asked for a welfare check to be done on them. One thing I am is a great mum, not perfect but I’m a good mum who always puts my kids first. She made the report knowing that’s where it would hurt me most. Why not say I’m drug dealing, abusing my cats etc? She used the kids and I struggle to see how anyone could ever do that to someone just to be nasty.

She lives 2 doors away from me, moving isn’t an option unfortunately.

I know 100% it was her that made the malicious report.

I also know 100% she is claiming she is single when she isn’t and her partner works full time.

as I’ve said I stay in my own lane, mind my own business but I’m sure half of the people saying not to report her and insinuating I’m some sort of evil person wouldn’t be of the same mindset if they were in my position and it was their kids that had police officers at the door late at night due to someone’s jealousy.

Yes I need to work on my anger towards her but it’s hard when someone tried to ruin your life with a malicious report and they are sitting back and abusing the system when they aren’t desperate for money, they do infact live quite a decent lifestyle.

You’ve still not confirmed if her partner is living with her full time?

If you ‘100%’ no all this stuff about her personal universal credit claim and the address details of her partner then you are way too close to her and need to back off for both your sakes. Wether you report her or not, stop nosying at her life it’s not healthy
