Well into your 60s, at least. Sorry, you are not middle aged. Unless you look substantially older than you are. And I say that as someone who is not that far behind you agewise!

I suspect this has something to do with the recent question where the OP was horrified because her daughter (in her early 20s I think) was going out with a "middle-aged" man who was, I think, 30 or 32.

No, 30 is not middle.
Middle age is not even 40, although that would make the most sense. It's defined (Cambridge dictionary) as mid forties to early sixties. A time that bridges youth to old age.
30 is not middle aged and hasn't been for a few centuries.

Maybe the OP should ask herself what it is she doesn’t like about her daughter’s boyfriend. Is it that her daughter is becoming independent from her? Or is he an arsehole?

Or is the OP angry her daughter isn’t dating the nice boy her own age who behaves like a teenager?

When my ex husband left I was 28. I went and shagged a 65 year old. In Paris. It was terrific. He was definitely older than middle aged. And he’s probably dead now. Because I’m 57 and definitely middle aged.

If it so happens that OP is talking about middle-aged, I don't get the several people on here who gainsay that on the basis that most people live beyond 60. Middle-aged is a stage of life; not just one single year.

It would be like saying that, if a 7yo counts as a 'child', that must mean that a 3yo, or a 6yo, or an 11yo can't be as well.

Many people like to apply 'vanity sizing' to their age as well as their clothes size - and pretend that 'middle-aged' - and certainly 'old' are both somehow negative things to be AND by default can only possibly apply to other people but never me. Next thing, we'll be seeing exciting feature articles all about what David Attenborough hopes to be and do when he grows up!!

I have a friend who plays netball and tennis, goes cold water swimming, belongs to quite a few clubs and activities and is also a carer for an elderly family member. She loves fashion and enjoys visiting London for the shopping and theatre. She is in her 70's

I also know someone who seems to be quite old, is obsessed with her many health issues and dresses in quite an old-fashioned way. She has no interests at all and is in her 40's

Age is just one small factor that helps define who we are ~ in my opinion it's not the most important one!

I certainly don’t feel “old” as in elderly as I’m approaching my 60s.

Following another thread I was thinking about this. Perspective is different depending how old you are.

85+ - Elderly

If you’re talking about age then you’re talking out of your arse. Not least because medical advances will mean someone who is 30 today will probably live to be over 100 so mid life would be around 50.

I was 24 when I met dh. He was early 30s. I was living in my own and had a career. Early stages, but still. It never felt like a gap. It never felt like he had the power; we were equals from the start.

20+ years later, 24 seems so, so young. But I have to remind myself that I didn't feel very young at that age. Now, even early 30s seems really young!

That denial within society really is a killer. 😱

I hope not, because I'll be 52 later this year and I'd like to think that I've got at least a couple of decades left!
